Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 30 As we continue our journey through the breathtaking Great Barrier Reef! This week, Mother Nature keeps us on our toes as forecasts of up to 30 knots of wind force us to carefully plan our movements and make the most of the weather windows available. Life on the water is never predictable, and that's all part of the adventure. As we explore these incredible reef systems, we encounter a few challenges along the way. Our water maker decides to test our patience, and a couple of mooring buoys create more headaches than expected. But living aboard full-time means adapting to whatever comes our way and finding solutions as we go. Despite the setbacks, the Great Barrier Reef continues to amaze us with its stunning scenery, crystal-clear waters, and abundant marine life. We spend our days exploring beautiful anchorages, enjoying life at sea, and appreciating the privilege of cruising through one of the most spectacular natural wonders in the world. The highlight of the week? After a run of disappointing fishing trips, our luck finally starts to change. The reef rewards our persistence, and we begin to see the results we've been hoping for. Sometimes it's the simple moments that make cruising life so rewarding. Join us for another week of sailing, problem-solving, fishing, and adventure as we share the highs and lows of living full-time aboard our sailboat, Moor R & R. If you enjoy coming along on our journey, please give the video a thumbs up, leave us a comment, and subscribe to follow our adventures around Australia and beyond. OKYANUSTA 18 GÜN. FIRTINADAN SAKLANACAK YER YOK. ............... We drove back home so Toni could have her surgery and begin recovery, leaving Moments in Time secured in Charleston, SC. But the marina deadline was looming — we had to be out by the end of the month, and suddenly we were down to just four days. We kept a close eye on a developing weather window and, right after the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show, we flew south to meet the boat. With only a single day to prepare for a coastal passage, we hustled through the checklist — including a trip up the mast to remove the lightning rod so we’d have the option to duck into the ICW if the forecast fell apart. At first light we slipped out of Charleston on the slack tide and spent the day sailing, motor‑sailing, and motoring up the South and North Carolina coast. By the time we rounded Cape Fear, it was clear the weather window wasn’t going to hold. We diverted into Beaufort Inlet and accepted that the rest of the journey to the Chesapeake Bay would have to be via the ICW. No usable offshore window around Cape Lookout or Cape Hatteras was shaping up anytime soon. Subscribe and share in our adventure! We head north from Boyne Island to the tip of Curtis Island, chasing shelter at Cape Capricorn – but not before a bit of unexpected drama to kick things off. Before we could even leave, we had to drop the anchor back down and let out most of the chain to sort a messy tangle wrapped up in it – likely picked up at Pancake Creek after all that swinging around. A quick reset over by the public jetty did the trick, and with that sorted, we were finally free to go. What followed was a proper sporty sail. With winds peaking at 26 knots, we hit 9.4 knots and took the chance to throw in a genoa gybe – ARGO absolutely loving it. Once safely tucked in at Cape Capricorn, it was time to make the most of it. With a delivery from our legend mate Ros (thanks again! xx), we ticked off a few boat jobs – replacing worn press studs and bungee loops on our clears and screens. Easier than expected… always a win. Next episode – the wind sticks around, so we slip into Yellow Patch… and wow, what a place. You won’t want to miss that one. Thanks for watching. ⚓ Sailing Truth Show — live every Saturday @ 3:00PM EST⚓ 📘 Get Be The Captain → https://bethecaptain.com📘 90,000 miles offshore. An award-finalist sailing book. And a frankly embarrassing number of times I should not have made it home. Tonight I'm putting myself on the chopping block: the dumbest, scariest, "what was I thinking" moments of my sailing life. Grounding at full speed and punching a chunk of lead out of the keel. Climbing the mast with no harness. Swimming half a mile from the boat in the middle of the ocean. And the night I came feet from losing her on the rocks in Panama. Every one of these left a scar and a lesson. I put the lessons in the book so you can skip the scars. 📘 Get Be The Captain → https://bethecaptain.com📘 The offshore decision-making playbook 8,000+ sailors are using to go cruising with confidence. A severe gale is on its way towards us, we need to seek out shelter, a storm anchorage in the mountains where we can stern tie to the shore for protection. We’ve just arrived by sailboat in Tasmania’s southwest corner, Port Davey. A large pocket of pristine wilderness that is completely inaccessible by road. Enjoying the episodes? I've been using the Airlock One since February and recently added the Airlock Voyage for those times I'm away from the boat or anchored out and not running A/C. The Airlock One connects to your A/C power source, while the Voyage is portable and works on either 12V DC or 120V power. Together they help keep my boat fresh whether I'm at the dock or out on the hook. 💨 Musty boat smells? When sailing south off of the coast of Portugal, do we deal with Orcas or shipping lanes with the largest of cargo ships? Our choice: ships. We thought it might be easier to call a ship on the VHF than negotiate with an attacking Orca. Of course, to get to the relative safety near the shipping lanes, we must first push through coastal waters where boats have been attacked mere days before we left. Will we make it? _________________________________ *** Help support our channel by making purchases through our DrakeParagon affiliate links: * Cybertake S2 Pro Portable Air Conditioner: https://cybertake.com/products/s2-pro?sca_ref=10723314.xfHurLjlQ43&sca_source=%22S2%20Pro%20For%20US%22 * Fogstar LiFePO4 batteries: https://www.fogstar-drift.co.uk/?ref=DrakeParagon * Bodega electric coolers: https://www.bodegacooler.com/?click_id=DrakeParagon * BLUETTI LiFePO4 power stations EU: https://bluettieu.pxf.io/jrP9Aa * BLUETTI LiFePO4 power stations US: https://bluettius.sjv.io/jrPv4Z *Navily cruising guide app: Get 30% OFF Navily Premium with code: "DRAKE30" - Important: The discount only works if you sign up on the WEBSITE: https://www.navily.com/navily-premium.
