Now in stock in Dunlaoghaire. Boasting an all-new hull, the Sun Odyssey 350 features a distinctive, contemporary silhouette. Her bow stands clear of the waterline, facilitating docking manoeuvres and handling in light wind. High-performance and responsive at the helm, she is distinguished from her predecessor by innovation to further improve quality of life in the cockpit. Walkaround sidedecks facilitate handling and ease of movement. With this clever layout, there are no obstacles to interrupt the flow of movement on board. The helmsperson benefits from enhanced comfort and better forward visibility due to off-centred aft helms with twin steering wheels. This video will change everything in how you prepare for your next long sail. I’m showing you the exact 'Master Prompt' I use to calculate Compass Deviation and Magnetic Variation in seconds, and even converting coordinates into degrees, minutes and seconds in the same go. Whether you're crossing the Atlantic or island hopping in Southeast Asia, this is the ultimate navigation hack to keep you on course when the screens go dark. Navigating without GPS is not that difficult, but you need to be prepared. And I will show you how to in this free video. Download the open-source prompt below! If you’re a cruiser—or planning to be—Subscribe to follow my journey and grab my free AI navigation prompts to keep your passage planning sharp, no matter where in the world you're sailing. Fair winds from the tropics! Copy from here: Role: Master Navigator Task: Generate a theoretical Rhumb Line navigation backup plan based on the provided GPX data. 1. Universal Waypoint Processing: Identify all entries in the provided GPX file. Assign a sequential Waypoint Number (WP 1, WP 2, etc.) to every point found. Data Integrity: Process every point in the sequence provided. Do not omit, truncate, or summarise any portion of the route. Every waypoint must have its own row. 2. Midpoint Logic: Calculate the distance between every sequential pair (WP n to WP n+1). If the distance between two points exceeds 100nm, insert a new row for the exact midpoint coordinates. Label this row 'WP [Number] MID'. Calculate the True Bearing and WMM 2025 Declination for these midpoints. 3. Navigational Calculations: Coordinates: Convert decimal degrees to Degrees, Minutes, Seconds (DMS). Dist: Nautical Miles (nm) to the next point. True Brg: Precise Rhumb Line bearing to the next point. Decl (2025): Use the latest World Magnetic Model for the specific coordinate. Mag C: True Bearing corrected for Declination (Variation). Dev (Variable): Apply deviation based on a simulated deviation card: For headings 000°–090°: Apply +2° For headings 091°–180°: Apply +1° For headings 181°–270°: Apply -1° For headings 271°–359°: Apply -2° Comp C: Magnetic Course corrected for Deviation. 4. ETAs: Create 4 separate columns for 4, 5, 6, and 7 knots (showing cumulative travel time from the start). 5. Output Format: Table Label: "Master Navigation Table" Columns: [WP #] | [Dist Next] | [Coordinates DMS] | [True Brg] | [Decl (2025)] | [Mag C] | [Dev] | [Comp C] | [ETA 4kt] | [ETA 5kt] | [ETA 6kt] | [ETA 7kt] CSV Section: Provide a raw, comma-separated code block (CSV) at the end containing all rows (Waypoints + Midpoints) that matches the table exactly for import into Excel or Numbers. "CRITICAL: This is for a professional maritime document. You are prohibited from using '...' or skipping any rows. If the output is too long for one message, stop at WP 15 and I will say 'Continue' for the rest." Mark's only wish for his 20-year work anniversary… was to be with me. But I've been solo sailing around the world for over 1,000 days. So his colleagues secretly flew me home as a surprise. No one knew — not even our son Sem. On the evening of his party, they played this song… and we were reunited. It felt like a real-life episode of 'All You Need Is Love' — with happy tears everywhere. I feel so blessed. Thank you, Xebia, for making this magic possible. ❤️ #SailingLoveworkx #CarryingMeHome #SoloSailing #Surprise #1000DaysAtSea

As the authorized partner for Privilège Marine in the United States, The Multihull Company is proud to present the final chapter of our three-part sailing documentary. We’ve followed the brand-new Privilège Signature 510, Sea Warden, from the shipyard in France to the rugged coast of Portugal—and now, to her final destination in the Canary Islands. The Final Test The journey began in Les Sables-d’Olonne, followed by a demanding crossing of the Bay of Biscay. After finding refuge in Porto, Portugal, just ahead of a powerful Atlantic storm, the crew faced several unexpected days in port waiting for the massive swells to subside. Once the gates of the marina reopened, Sea Warden set her sights south. With the wind shifting in her favor, the catamaran showcased her legendary blue-water stability as she hugged the Portuguese coast toward Lanzarote. 45 Knots & 6-Meter Seas The Atlantic always has the final word. During the last night of the passage, a fierce storm caught up with the crew, bringing: Winds exceeding 45 knots Waves towering over six meters * The most demanding conditions of the entire delivery Witness how the Privilège Signature 510 handles the extreme elements, proving why it is the premier choice for offshore sailors. By morning, the reward finally appeared on the horizon: the volcanic peaks of Lanzarote and the safe harbor of Marina Rubicón. The Adventure Continues This concludes the first chapter of Sea Warden’s story. After a well-deserved rest in the Canary Islands, she will soon begin her next great challenge: crossing the Atlantic toward the Caribbean. This is the introduction and first chapter of the Be The Captain audiobook, read by the author. Chapter 1 is called Think Like a Captain. It's not about sailing techniques or gear. It's about command, and the mindset that separates people who make good decisions offshore from people who don't. If you want to know what the book is about before you commit, this is the best place to start. 📖 Get the full audiobook + hardcover: https://bethecaptain.com

____ Where manual daggerboards require anticipation and slowing down, CATANA introduces electrically assisted daggerboards, controlled directly from the helm. Smooth, precise, friction-free movement. Enhanced maneuverability in all sea and wind conditions. Here, the daggerboard becomes more than a performance tool — it’s a true asset for safety and comfort at sea. #CatanaCatamarans #CatanaWayOfSail #ElectricDaggerboards #SailingInnovation #OffshorePerformance #BlueWaterSailing

Ready to master anchoring check out the NauticEd anchoring course - https://www.nauticed.org/sailing-courses/view/anchoring-a-sailboat?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=MKEBAitNjbo Check out IMTRA for all your windlass needs (they are the experts) - https://www.imtra.com Knowing how much anchor chain you have deployed is critical to safe anchoring - and how you mark that chain determines whether your method survives the chain wheel or makes a mess of your anchor locker. This video covers every common chain marking method, the real-world problems with each, and why rubber chain markers are the best solution for most sailors. What this video covers: - Why spray paint flakes off inside the anchor locker and creates a significant mess over time - Why colored zip ties are a popular choice but get stripped by the chain wheel and introduce plastic into the sea - What rubber chain markers are, how they work, and why they are the preferred option - The difference between pressure fit and mechanically fastened rubber chain markers - How to cluster markers at set intervals so you always know exactly how much ground tackle is deployed Marking your chain every 20 to 25 feet with a reliable, visible method is one of the simplest upgrades you can make to your anchoring system. Rubber chain markers are reusable, clean, and designed to run through the chain wheel without causing damage. CHAPTERS: 00:00 - Intro 00:10 - Method 1: Spray Paint 00:23 - Method 2: Zip Ties 00:49 - Method 3: Rubber Chain Markers Explained 01:11 - Pressure Fit Chain Markers

INSIDE GREAT LAKES SAILING SEASON SEVEN SHOW NO. 154 - The landscape has softened a bit after the last IGLS show featuring America's Cup veteran John Sweeney, who is suing the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron over the Deed Of Gift, so we thought about pushing on with some information about cruising and a great announcement for our old friend from Spectrum Sailing Scott Herman. who just worked a deal with Sail GP to provide assistance for his program that works with autistic youngsters. The Great Lakes Cruising Club Commodore Joe McKeown stops by to chat about his organization's dedication to leisure cruising , while Dave Monk, of ILYA fame, chats about combining racers and sailors on the same Put-In-Bay dock during Bay Week at the end of July, which will be quite a feat, but let's listen and see if it can work so please stay tuned and let's see what happens.

Sailing vessel Tapatya This is the story of SV Tapatya, a self-built, Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of our adventures as I live aboard, sail and strive to find out just what such a self-built, low-budget vessel is capable of. These videos take a lot of time and effort to make, in what is already a time-intensive project. Your support in watching, subscribing and sharing these videos is very much appreciated. When you start your outboard engine, you should see a stream of water coming from it, which is called a telltale. This tell tale lets you know that the engine is cooling properly. If your outboard isn't peeing, it's usually a sign of a problem, which could be a blocked outlet or your outboard water pump needs replacing. BoatUS Magazine's Lenny Rudow shows you what to look for if there's no tell-tale and steps you should take before you call it a day on the water -- or burn up your engine. 🚩Enjoy this video? Most people say “just get on the water and figure it out.” That sounds simple… but it’s exactly why so many beginners struggle. This video breaks down the step-by-step checklist I’m using to learn sailing before I even step on a boat. Not to overcomplicate things, but to avoid the mistakes that actually matter. I’m not an expert. I don’t own a boat (yet). But I’ve spent months researching, planning, and preparing for liveaboard life and this is the system that finally made everything click. If you’re trying to learn sailing without feeling overwhelmed, this might help you skip months of confusion. ⏱️ Timestamps: 00:00 Why “just start” is bad advice 00:49 The real learning shortcut nobody talks about 01:50 Step 1: Understand what the boat is doing 02:15 Step 2: Control the boat slowly 02:40 Step 3: Know what makes things worse 03:16 Step 4: Fix mistakes calmly 03:36 Step 5: Teach someone else 03:52 What real progress actually looks like 04:23 The truth about learning sailing ⚓ If you're learning sailing too, subscribe for the real journey. I’ll be testing all of this in real life soon. #sailing #learntosail #sailinglife #beginnertips #sailingadvice #howtosail #boatinglife #sailingtips #liveaboardlife #boatlife #sailingjourney #sailingbeginners #learnsomethingnew #selfimprovement #checklist

...but I think it was worth it, simply for these moments. Disclaimer: do not do as I do. Always listen to the weather people, because they know best. I suffered greatly at the hands of my crew for forcing this crossing on them (or they suffered and made me suffer...I'm not sure who suffered more, just that there was suffering). But we'd have never made it to Staniel had we left 8 hours later.

2 months until we’re kicking off and out of the marina - 2 months to get this boat semi-liveable and off-grid. Power, water, head. But first, we have to plan where all of these systems will fit!? It’s a big boat that needs a big system, but navigating the weight displacement for a catamaran is an entirely new concept for us. This week we’re building the mounts for our off-grid house system, finishing the mounting of the handrails…and laughing as we have another man overboard (it’s the same man, just again). _____________________________________________________________________________ Copyrighted music licensed from Lickd. https://lickd.co My Favorite Things by Julie Andrews, https://t.lickd.co/l/p7NgGJpkNd0 Copyrighted music licensed from Lickd. https://lickd.co The Sound Of Music by Charmian Carr, Heather Menzies, Nicholas Hammond, Duane Chase, Angela Cartwright, Debbie Turner, Kym Karath, Bill Lee, https://t.lickd.co/l/n7VYgAAdWjA PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/TheNewKidsOnTheDock PAYPAL: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=KNLJDGDXPAYAU WISHLIST: https://www.myregistry.com/wishlist/josh-and-phoebe-coomera-queensland/5046646 _____________________________________________________________________________ We would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land and seas which we work, play and live on: the Kombumerri peoples.
