After a warm farewell from fellow sailors in Mauritius, it's time for S/Y Loveworkx to head towards Réunion. I leave late in the afternoon, but the passage starts with a challenge: my sail feeder is sitting too far out from the mast, making it difficult to hoist the sails. And once underway, I discover that my windvane isn't cooperating either. The pendulum keeps lifting out of the water, leaving me without my usual self-steering system and using the tiller pilot. Fortunately, the passage itself goes smoothly, and I reach Réunion that same evening. With an arrival after dark, I decide to heave to and wait for daylight before entering the marina. The next morning, Angélique from the marina is there to welcome me. She has everything prepared: the gate and shower keys, copies of the paperwork for clearance, and all the practical details I need. Within just 15 minutes, customs and immigration arrive at the quay, and I can take down my yellow quarantine flag. What a welcome! After so much time at anchor and long stretches of sailing, it feels wonderful to be back in a marina, surrounded by other sailors. There is something special about arriving in a new place and being met with such warmth and kindness. Another passage completed, another island discovered, and another chapter in my solo circumnavigation. Back in 2003 or 2004, I was just 24 years old and had landed my first real job flying private jets out of Van Nuys, California. One of my very first assignments? Flying rock legend Sammy Hagar @SammyHagar and his band around the country on tour! For the next month or two, I got a behind-the-scenes look at life on the road with a rock star. We had all-access backstage passes, hung out with the band, drank margaritas beside the stage, and even spent time partying with Sammy at a beach house. But somewhere along the way, the band's bass player, Mona, gave me a nickname that stuck with me for years: "Silvertoes." And the story of how I got that name is pretty hilarious. Join us aboard Indara, our Najad 380, as we sail north through the beautiful Aegean Sea on our journey from Samos to Skyros! We leave Ormos Marina in Samos and set off towards Ikaria, motor sailing and experimenting with our jib, sheeting it in tight as we try to make the best progress into the wind. We arrive in Evdilos, Ikaria, where we explore the lovely town before setting off again the following morning. Next stop is Andros, where we enjoy some beautiful motor sailing before dropping the anchor in Achiles Bay. We show you our anchoring setup and spend a peaceful night at anchor. The next morning, we leave in the dark. As the sun rises over the calm Aegean, we open the mainsail and enjoy one of those special sailing moments that make this life so rewarding. Finally, we arrive in Skyros - and discover that finding a parking spot for Indara isn't quite as simple as it looks! Watch as we manoeuvre into a tight berth, with fantastic assistance from Sakis, the port master, who helps us get safely alongside. Hoy nos hemos venido al puerto de Vilanova de Arousa a Inspeccionar la jarcia de un precioso Jeanneau Sun Odissey 32. El armador lo compró hace un año y tiene la inquietud de saber si tiene los componentes de la jarcia en buen estado. Ya sabéis que por un componente en mal estado la jarcia puede colapsar y hacer que el mástil parta. Lo peor de todo es que le puede caer encima a un miembro de la tripulación. Económicamente te metes en un buen lío, ya que con frecuencia tenemos que comprar un palo nuevo o al menos de segunda mano. Para ello es mejor hacer inspecciones periódicas y sustituir obenques y estays cuando toca.

There are places in the world that make you stop talking. Anchoring my sailboat *Mirage* just beneath the Statue of Liberty was one of those moments. As someone born in Russia, I've always carried the stories of those who lost everything after the Revolution of 1917. Millions were forced to leave their homeland, scattering across Europe and beyond. Their hopes, heartbreak, and longing found their way into songs that, over time, have largely been forgotten. This video is my own English adaptation of one of those songs. It's the story of a young woman whose privileged life vanished overnight, whose father was executed, and who found herself surviving among fellow refugees in Paris. More than anything, it's a song about exile, dignity, and the price people pay when history changes their lives forever. Standing beneath the Statue of Liberty - a symbol of hope for generations of immigrants - I couldn't imagine a more meaningful place to sing it. Things escalated quickly on the free 1989 Yamaha 70ETLF 70HP outboard teardown! When the powerhead wouldn't separate from the intermediate housing, I tried dropping the lower unit. Thinking a previous owner's access hole was meant for the driveshaft, I brought out the Sawzall... only to realize I just cut straight through the copper water pump tube instead! To top it all off, we found a hidden 5th bolt under the anode that was holding the lower unit all along, plus some broken casting bosses.
