This is the LARGEST fish I've ever spearfished. A brutal 3hr total mission all solo, while freediving, with only a polespear. The meat from this fish fed around 100 people over the course of that week, and then for a community lunch that benefitted the island's school. Welcome onboard the sailing vessel "Onward". A 2002 Feeling 39 that I enjoyed cruising with throughout the Bahamas this past season in 2025. Owned and easily sailed by Jason & Ashley, this boat offers a perfect balance of performance and livability. The stand out feature of this unique sailboat though, it's it modern swing keel. Capable of extending down to 6.5' for upwind ocean sailing. Or retracting back into the hull to a minimum draft of 2'5" for down wind sailing or the ULTIMATE shallow water anchoring! To me the most important lesson I've learned in my 6.5 years of sailing and cruising, much throughout the Bahamas. To this updated 2025 full in-depth tour of my beautiful 1984 Beneteau Idylle 11.5m or 38' long sloop rigged monohull sailboat. My humble home upon the sea. Six and a half years ago, I went up and down the East coast of the USA looking for a sailboat to buy. With a considerable amount of help and advice from my sailing mentor Don. I purchased this sailboat in Cape Cod Massachusetts for $23,000.00. At that time the boat was on the hard with it's mast down in an old boatyard miles and miles from the ocean. It was hard to imagine that it would be the boat for me. But after about a month of working with the seller and his broker. We splashed the boat, stepped the mast and sea trialed her. After that, I was confident this sailboat was what I was looking for. But it would take several years and a couple major refits of improvements and upgrades to make the boat what it is now. A boat that's value is far greater than when I started. As is it's practical usability which you can see though my online channels. From this boat I love to explore and go on adventures wherever my anchor rests. The boats name perfectly explains what it represents: -Adventure: (An unusual and exciting or daring experience. Or to engage in daring or risky activity.) -Borne: (Carried or transported by the thing specified.) -Adventureborne = "What brings me to the adventure." This is a humble sailboat. But that's an upside. Because unlike most catamarans and other larger vessels. This sailboat is highly affordable and has an extremely low cost to maintain. Allowing me to be able to sail and cruise full time. Without worry of breaking the bank. On top of that, my main expense out here in the Bahamas would be food. But more than a decade of spearfishing around the world has given me the capability to consistently harvest from the ocean around my sailboat through freedive spearfishing. Further extending my time at sea and away from the hustle and bustle of civilizations. While feasting and sharing it's bounties with my fellow sailors. This boat has been a dream to sail & live on.
