Day 17 of our Atlantic crossing starts the best way possible: real, deep sleep. After days of exhaustion, the ocean finally gives us calmer conditions, long stretches of rest, and a sense that our bodies are catching up. We wake up hopeful for a fish, surrounded by sargassum, with clean solar panels after overnight rain — but power quickly becomes the theme of the day as we talk through the realities of running a high-demand boat entirely off-grid. We break down why even 1,800 watts of solar doesn’t always keep up on passage, how shading and boat motion affect production, and why cooking, water-making, Starlink, autopilot, and daily life add up fast. We also talk honestly about future power ideas, including why wind generation might make more sense for us than a hydrogenerator. Midday brings another mechanical curveball: our alternator fails. We walk through what that actually means — what still works, what doesn’t, and why the engine remains safe to run even without charging the house bank. Not ideal, but manageable. The rest of the day is slow and human in the best way: showers, checking on Dingo’s healing ear, clay Christmas crafts made from ethical natural pigments, homemade pizza, sourdough, and settling in for our annual tradition of watching Harry Potter — thankfully stored on a hard drive instead of locked behind streaming borders. Six hundred pounds. Inches of clearance. And absolutely no room for mistakes. Now that the engine is finally inside the cockpit, the next challenge is getting it the rest of the way into the boat — and this part might be even harder than the lift itself. In this episode, we’re faced with one of the tightest moves of the entire build: getting our diesel hybrid engine up and over the cockpit sill, across the bridge deck, and into the aft berth without damaging the boat — or ourselves. With limited clearance, no working trolley on the I-beam, and six hundred pounds hanging overhead, every decision matters. We spend the day protecting surfaces, building temporary platforms, removing components for extra clearance, and constantly reworking the plan as new problems appear. What started as a carefully thought-out approach quickly turns into real-time problem solving, improvisation, and a few moments where everything feels a little too close for comfort. Thanks to a mix of preparation, patience, and some great advice from viewers, we eventually find a way to make it work — but not without a few tense moments along the way. In this stage of the build, a major milestone is reached as all the temporary structural supports and moulds are released. With the main beams now in place and local stiffening completed where needed, the wet deck and hulls have been bonded together as a strong, solid platform. It’s the first moment where she really starts to look like a boat as you move around her. Looking down from above, the interior layout is beginning to reveal itself too. At this point it can feel a little untidy, an unavoidable and familiar phase in the build process, but the structure is doing exactly what it should, the form is emerging, and everything released just as it should. The yard is packed this December, and while we’re well protected from the recent run of strong gales, the relentless West Country rain has taken its toll. With flooding across the region, the ground is decidedly soggy, as you’ll see in the background. Still, progress continues, and we’re very much looking ahead to the next phases, when everything starts to come together for real.

In this episode, we enjoy some well-earned downtime while staying at Cap d'Agde Marina. It’s a vast marina surrounded by excellent chandleries, shops, cafés, and restaurants — and just a short distance from the famous Cap d’Agde nudist beaches. Unsurprisingly, there are a few interesting and unusual shops around town that make this stop a memorable one. After stocking up and enjoying marina life, it’s time to set sail once more. We depart Cap d’Agde and head west along the French Mediterranean coast to Canet-en-Roussillon, returning to where our sailing journey first began two and a half years ago. As is typical for this coastline, strong offshore winds provide an exciting and fast sail before we dock back in Canet — closing the loop on an incredible chapter of our sailing adventure. The final leg of our first trip on the cabin cruiser! In this third part, we leave the beautiful Egmont Key and try our luck heading out into the gulf waters... but the swells are too much! With conditions too rough to enjoy offshore, we make the decision to head back inside, navigating the famous Johns Pass before settling into the calm Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). It's a long cruise back home, but we make time for a well-deserved dockside lunch at a fantastic Mexican restaurant, right on the water. We finally make it back to the home marina, officially completing an epic 118-mile journey! After spending three beautiful weeks exploring the Tioman Islands, Malaysia, we finally set sail towards Terempa, Anambas Islands, Indonesia. This episode captures our 140 nautical mile passage across the South China Sea, with a planned stop at Jemaja Island, one of the larger islands in the Anambas archipelago. As we sailed, Vee took the night watch under a stunning full moon — one of those magical sailing moments that the camera simply can’t do justice to. The first 24 hours were calm and comfortable, and it felt special sailing just the two of us together after a long time. By mid-day, we entered Indonesian waters, greeted by unreal shades of blue — sky and sea blending into one. We anchored at Jemaja, an island that also has an airport, and soon realized how quickly weather can change in the South China Sea. With rough weather forecasted, we were grateful to have taken shelter. We also discovered that our bilge pump setup hadn’t worked as planned (from the previous episode), so we stayed aboard to fix things and ended the day with a refreshing sea swim. After 2–3 days, once the weather improved, we sailed onward to Terempa, Anambas, where things got interesting again — rough weather, and then we realized a pin from our mainsail had come loose mid-sail. Gaurav also shares a valuable tip on how to prepare for bad weather at sea, stressing the importance of timely action and closely monitoring weather apps. After an eventful sail, we finally arrived at Terempa, where officials from Customs, Immigration, Health, and Port Authority came onboard to officially check us into Indonesia. The Anambas Islands are a remote and pristine archipelago in Indonesia, known for crystal-clear waters, untouched reefs, and their off-the-beaten-path beauty — a true sailor’s paradise. We’re excited to begin exploring Anambas, Indonesia in the coming episodes! 👉 Follow our journey: 📸 Instagram: @the_reeva_project 📘 Facebook: The Reeva Project ---------------------------------------------------------------------- मलेशिया के तिओमन आइलैंड्स में लगभग तीन हफ़्ते बिताने के बाद, हमने अब अपना सफ़र शुरू किया इंडोनेशिया के अनाम्बास आइलैंड्स की ओर। यह लगभग 140 नौटिकल मील की यात्रा थी, जिसमें हमारा पहला पड़ाव था जेमाजा (Jemaja) — अनाम्बास का एक बड़ा द्वीप, जहाँ एक एयरपोर्ट भी मौजूद है। इस सफ़र के दौरान वी (वैदेही) ने रात की वॉच संभाली। ऊपर पूरा चाँद, चारों तरफ़ समंदर — एक बेहद खूबसूरत रात, जिसे कैमरा पूरी तरह कैद नहीं कर पाया। पहले 24 घंटे काफ़ी आरामदेह रहे। काफ़ी समय बाद हम दोनों ही अकेले साथ में नौकायन कर रहे थे और मौसम भी उम्मीद से बेहतर रहा। दोपहर तक हम इंडोनेशियन पानी में दाख़िल हो चुके थे — नीला आसमान और उतना ही नीला समंदर, नज़ारा वाक़ई कमाल का था। हमने जेमाजा में लंगर डाला। साउथ चाइना सी की सबसे दिलचस्प बात है — यहाँ मौसम अचानक बदल सकता है। मौसम के बिगड़ने की संभावना को देखते हुए हम समय पर सुरक्षित जगह पहुँच पाए, इसके लिए हम काफ़ी शुक्रगुज़ार थे। यहीं हमें यह भी समझ आया कि हमारी बिल्ज पंप की व्यवस्था ठीक से काम नहीं कर रही थी (पिछला एपिसोड ज़रूर देखें)। इसलिए हमने नाव पर ही रुककर ज़रूरी काम पूरे किए और शाम को समंदर में तैरकर थोड़ी राहत ली। 2–3 दिनों बाद, मौसम साफ़ होते ही हमने अगला सफ़र शुरू किया तेरेंपा (Terempa), अनाम्बास की ओर, जहाँ हमें इंडोनेशिया में आधिकारिक रूप से चेक-इन करना था। लेकिन रास्ते में एक बार फिर खराब मौसम का सामना करना पड़ा और तभी हमें पता चला कि मेनसेल का एक पिन निकल गया है। इस दौरान गौरव यह भी बताते हैं कि खराब मौसम के लिए तैयारी कैसे करनी चाहिए — जैसे समय पर सही फ़ैसले लेना और वेदर ऐप्स पर लगातार नज़र रखना। कई उतार-चढ़ाव भरे इस सफ़र के बाद हम आख़िरकार तेरेंपा पहुँचे, जहाँ कस्टम्स, इमिग्रेशन, हेल्थ और पोर्ट अथॉरिटी के अधिकारी नाव पर आए और हमारी एंट्री पूरी की। अनाम्बास आइलैंड्स, इंडोनेशिया का एक बेहद दूरस्थ और ख़ूबसूरत द्वीप समूह है, जो अपने साफ़ पानी, शांत वातावरण और अनछुए नेचर के लिए जाना जाता है — नाविकों के लिए किसी स्वर्ग से कम नहीं। अब हम पूरी तरह तैयार हैं अनाम्बास, इंडोनेशिया को एक्सप्लोर करने के लिए। आगे की यात्रा के लिए जुड़े रहिए! ⛵🌊 Sailing to Indonesia Anambas Islands Indonesia Tioman to Anambas sail South China Sea sailing Liveaboard sailing couple Full moon sailing Boat life reality Sailing vlog India The Reeva Project Sailing Malaysia to Indonesia #TheReevaProject #SailingIndonesia #AnambasIslands #SouthChinaSea #BoatLife #LiveaboardLife #SailingCouple #FullMoonSailing #OceanAdventure #SailboatLife #CruisingLife #IndianSailors #LifeAtSea #SVReeva
