Good lighting isn’t just about brightness. It’s about putting light exactly where it’s needed. Onboard the new Saxdor 340 GTWA, PG demonstrates one of Gineico Marine’s cleverest lighting solutions, the Secret Pop Up Table Lamp. Integrated directly into the wet bar and preparation area, the retractable fitting provides 360° illumination exactly where it is needed, helping avoid the shadows and glare that can come from overhead lighting in open cockpit spaces. When not in use, the Secret retracts almost flush with the surface, preserving valuable bench space and maintaining a clean, streamlined finish. When raised, it provides both practical task lighting and a beautiful ambient glow for entertaining after dark. Made from mirror-polished marine-grade 316 stainless steel and rated IP66, Secret is designed for both interior and exterior marine applications. It is available in two sizes, with different output and light colour options to suit the application. A small detail that can completely change how a space looks and functions onboard. @saxdoryachts @quickgroup_official https://zurl.co/nV2Z0 #GineicoMarine #Saxdor #Saxdor340GTWA #MarineLighting #YachtLighting #BoatLighting #MarineDesign #MarineEquipment #YachtDesign #BoatDesign #MarineInteriors #EuropeanBoats

Alexander Marine Australia are pleased to present the 2002/2018 Kanter Marine 70 Raised Pilothouse 'Mad Macs' to the market as worldwide central agents. Constructed in Canada, 'Mad Macs' is a robust and capable Kanter 70 aluminium raised pilothouse long-range motor yacht, purpose-built for serious offshore cruising and extended liveaboard comfort. Designed by renowned naval architect Chuck Paine and built in 2002, she underwent a comprehensive refit in 2017 and 2018, which included the extension of her fishing cockpit and extensive paintwork, and has since logged more than 32,000 ocean miles. Combining the inherent strength and durability of aluminium construction with the proven design characteristics of a raised pilothouse long-range motor yacht, 'Mad Macs' offers an impressive platform for extended passagemaking, coastal exploration or full-time living aboard. For more than 50 years, McConaghy has been driven by a simple pursuit: building lighter, stronger and faster boats through advanced composite construction and a relentless focus on performance. From Sydney to Hobart race winners and America's Cup campaigns to high-performance racing yachts, superyachts and some of the world's most technically demanding composite projects, McConaghy has continually pushed the boundaries of what is possible. Our experience extends well beyond sailing, including the construction of the Deepsea Challenger submersible used by filmmaker and explorer James Cameron, as well as advanced composite structures for a range of demanding applications. Today, that same experience in carbon construction, engineering and precision manufacturing underpins the McConaghy range of performance sailing yachts, including the Cure, Panther and MC catamarans. This film looks back at the people, projects and engineering achievements that have shaped McConaghy — and the experience that continues to influence what we build today. In Episode 31 of UK Sailmakers' Lessons Learned, host Buttons Padin catches up with Tripp Brower, executive director of Apparent Winds, aboard the 75 foot aluminum ketch Resilience in Mo'orea, French Polynesia, just in from Fakarava in the Tuamotus. Tripp explains how Apparent Winds grew from a planned two year circumnavigation into a 10 year expedition focused on collecting and sharing stories of community led environmental and cultural preservation, and on making "affordable science" possible by offering researchers low cost access to a capable sailing platform and accessible tools like a 6,000 meter drop camera. He traces the route from Maine to Grenada, across the Caribbean to Panama, out through French Polynesia, the Cook Islands, Samoa and Tonga to New Zealand, and back north this season through the Marquesas and the Tuamotus, with relationship building as the foundation for the work. Tripp covers the partnership behind the 12.5 million square kilometre Moananui Sanctuary, a NOAA research charter in American Samoa this October focused on coral, and introduces the crew. He also gets into how the ketch rig is handled shorthanded, his passage making advice ("don't sink" and "leave the dock"), and what is next: a refit in Whangarei, New Zealand, and a separate Chile to Antarctica expedition.

One year ago, we started living aboard Alaskan Gypsy full time in Alaska. At almost exactly the same time, we started sharing that life here on YouTube. We had no idea what either one would become. In our first year aboard our 80-foot steel schooner, we've worked to bring Gypsy back to life, spent an Alaska winter living aboard, found work in remote communities, tackled unusual rescue and repair projects, crossed the Gulf of Alaska, explored forgotten places and met some incredible people along the way. And somehow, we made 155 videos while doing it. For our one-year anniversary, we're looking back at 10 videos that defined our first year. These aren't necessarily our 10 biggest videos. They're the ones that changed something for us, surprised us, opened a new door or helped us understand what we want The Alaskan Gypsy Life to become. We go back to our first time aboard Gypsy and the months spent working on her in the Wrangell shipyard. Then Port Protection changed everything. We began figuring out how living and working from the boat could actually become a sustainable life, and some of the projects we stumbled into became stories we never could have planned. From a remote cabin rescue and a broken excavator to Alaska treasure hunting, crossing the Gulf of Alaska and meeting Nikki, who has lived aboard alone in Alaska for more than four decades, each of these videos represents a piece of what this life has become. Looking back, maybe that's the biggest thing we've discovered: we're not living our lives for YouTube. We're living this strange, beautiful Alaskan life and sharing the stories we find along the way. Now we're heading into Year Two with more remote Alaska, more work and problem solving, more exploring, more life aboard Gypsy and more stories about the interesting people we meet along the way. If you've been with us this year, what was your favorite video? And what would you like to see more of in Year Two? Thanks for being part of our first year.
