SOLO SAILING THE BRAZIL COAST Welcome back aboard our floating home. After an unforgettable family reunion in Lucerne, Switzerland, where Finn and and Ben brought home silver for New Zealand at the rowing World Cup, Rob returns to Brazil for a solo sailing mission aboard our boat in the stunning marina of Sao Miguel. While the boys and I stay behind in England for some long, overdue family time, Rob takes on life at sea alone, tackling boat maintenance, navigating Brazilian waters, and settling back into the rhythms of cruising life. This episode captures the ever shifting tides of full-time sailing life, the calm, the chaos, and the constant adventure that comes with living aboard a catamaran. SAILING BRAZIL to SWITZERLAND FOR SURPRISE FAMILY REUNION in LUCERNE Welcome back aboard, but this week we're not at sea...we're in Switzerland. After a challenging sail up the coast of Brazil and a nerve-racking night entry into Sao Miguel, Rob, Declan and Ivan swap sails for a flight to Europe, thanks to the generosity of our amazing patron Andre. Three worlds collide in Lucerne, Switzerland, at the Rowing World Cup, for a family reunion at one of the most famous rowing courses in the world, Lake Rotsee. This episode is about more than travel and adventure, it's about the magic of reunion, the gift of shared moments, and the reminder that life is always better with the people you love the most. BATTLING BRAZIL'S COASTLINE - ROUGH SEAS & NIGHTIME HARBOUR DRAMA Sailing Brazil's coastline turned out to be one of our most challenging passages yet. What started off for Rob and the boys as a straightforward trip north quickly became a test of grit, seamanship, and determination. With squalls rolling through and confused seas building, two boats in our group made the tough decision to turn back. They pushed on. And as night fell, we faced a harbour entrance that rivalled Knysna, South Africa for difficulty. Guided in under darkness, with breaking waves around us, this arrival will be etched in Rob's sailing memory forever. EXCEPTIONAL BRAZIL - Amazing Country Amazing People For seven years, we've been sailing the world as a family, through sunshine and storms, chaos and calm. This week, our journey takes us from Brazil to England, with one theme running through it all: Life is better shared. The places we visit are incredible, but it's the people we share them with that make the memories unforgettable and keep us sailing happy. SAILING BRAZIL is it REALLY DANGEROUS? We've been warned by countless sailors and travellers: "Brazil is dangerous. Don't walk anywhere at night. Don't take your phone. Be careful in Salvador." But is it really that bad? In this episode, after crossing the Southern Atlantic, we explore the historic heart of the city, ride the famous Elevator Lacerda and wander the colourful streets of Pelourinho. But the biggest surprise? Sailing across the bay to Bom Jesus Island, the locals welcomed us with open arms, inviting us into their homes and sharing food with us. Brazil showed us warmth, generosity, and kindness. We also say farewell to Declan and Ivan , as they travel south the Rio. HEARTBREAK AT SEA - FORCED TO LEAVE BRAZIL This was one of the hardest episodes we've ever had to share. We lost our beautiful Mocha overboard, unseen and unnoticed until it was too late. She was part of our crew, and many of you who have followed us for years know how much she meant to us. As if that isn't enough, our Aussie crew Clint and Ollie faced a visa nightmare. Despite pying a small fortune for expedited processing, their visas still weren't approved on arrival in Brazil. After initially being grant temporary approval, this was revoked and they were ordered to leave immediately. SAILING INTO ADULTHOOD - MID ATLANTIC BIRTHDAY Seven days into our South Atlantic crossing, the wide ocean became our home. With the trade winds filling our sails, life aboard slows into a rhythm of watches, meals, and moments of connection. Out here it's the little things that matter most. But this week also brought something big, an 18th birthday mid -Atlantic. No crowds, no giant party, just six souls celebrating life, friendship, and chocolate cake in the middle of nowhere. A birthday like no other, one that will be remembered forever. This is more than just sailing, it's about the beauty of simple living, milestones at sea, and the bonds forged when the horizon is endless. BLUE MARLIN SHADOWED US ON 1800 MILE ATLANTIC CROSSING TO BRAZIL From one of the worlds most remote inhabited islands to the endless blue of the South Atlantic, this episode takes you from or final adventures on St Helena to the start of our 3000 mile blue water passage to Brazil. With just days left on the island, we take on the famous Jacob'e ladder, (699 steps of leg burning glory), scuba dive the crystal clear waters, and welcome new crew aboard to the journey ahead. But 16 hours after setting sail, we witness something extraordinary, a powerful 3 metre blue marlin relentlessly chasing a shoal of fish that had taken refuge alongside our boat. For over half an hour, we were front row spectators to one of nature's most thrilling hunts. From island charm to ocean to ocean drama, this episode captures why we love this life at sea. 11 DAYS SAILING TO THE WORLD'S MOST REMOTE INHABITED ISLAND - EXPLORING ST HELENA After the excitement of Henley Royal Regatta, this week we return to our sailing adventures and one of the world's most remote inhabited islands in the world, St Helena. Perched in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean. With just 4000 residents, this volcanic outpost is 1,200 miles from Africa and 1,800 miles from South America. In this episode, we explore what makes St Helena so unique, from it's friendly locals, it's windy roads and scenic walks, to it's rich maritime history as a vital stop for ships rounding the Cape of Good Hope before Suez Canal opened. We also welcome back some familiar faces from past voyages, Clint and his five year old son Ollie, who will be joining us for our next blue water cruising, from St Helena to Salvador, Brazil, but first they get a taste of island life in one of the most isolated places on the planet. If you enjoy offshore sailing adventures, rare travel destinations and life at sea you'll love this episode. OFF THE WATER AND INTO THE FIGHT : A RACE THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING This episode is different, but it's one we had to share. It's not about sailing, but it's about boats, and every bit about the spirit of adventure, family and defying the odds. Our eldest son Finn raced at Henley Royal Regatta, the Wimbledon of rowing, against Olympic medalist. What happened next still gives us the chills. SAILING to St HELENA mid-ATLANTIC 28 YEARS AFTER ROWING the OCEAN We're crossing the Atlantic Ocean, but for Rob, this isn't his first time. 28 years ago, he won the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race, rowing 3000 miles from the Canary Islands to Barbados. Now, he's trading oars for sails as we leave Namibia behind and begin our Sailing journey across the South Atlantic, heading for the remote island St Helena - one of the most isolated islands on Earth. This episode has it all, crossing of the Prime Meridian, and reflections on a past oceanic adventure that changed Rob's life forever. Leaving Africa for a remote mid-Atlantic rock aka St Helena In this episode, we leave the shores of Namibia behind and set off on the first leg of our biggest ocean adventure yet - a 1240 mile sail to the remote island of St Helena. This tiny volcanic outpost in the middle of the most isolated inhabited islands on earth, and we're aiming to reach it in about two weeks at sea. But before we dive into life on passage, we learn the hard way way no one visits Dune 7 sandhill in the middle of the day and take you back inland, to Spitzkoppe, the stunning granite peaks often dubbed the "Matterhorn of Namibia." Thanks to the rare rains , the barren landscape had been transformed into a lush, green oasis, unlike anything we expected to see in the Namib desert. Join us for the start of this epic journey, full of shifting sands, Atlantic swells, and the excitement and nerves of heading out into the open ocean once again, just as Finn, our eldest son, continues living his dream on the water, at the NZ national beach sprints rowing championships. NEAR COLLISION SAILING BLIND in FOG This week, we continue our journey up Namibia's Skeleton Coast, navigating 50 fog-filled miles to Wallis Bay, our final anchorage in Africa before crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Sailing this coast is never easy but sailing in dense fog is no joke. With no radar and an unreliable AIS signal, we're left relying on sharp eyes, gut instinct and a little help from our buddy boat @sailingexcelsior , when a fishing trawler appeared (and disappeared!) on a collision course that raises the anxiety levels. Join us for some tense navigation and ghostly landscapes, as we grow closer to saying farewell to the incredible African continent. OFF GRID SAILING THE REMOTE SKELETON COAST - And then it rained in the driest place on earth! This week, we sail north along Namibia's Skeleton Coast, One of the most remote and unforgiving stretches of Africa's Atlantic coastline. There's no cell signal, no wifi, and no safety net - just us, the sea, the desert, and a coastline known more for its shipwrecks than shelter. But nature had a surprise waiting, a rare, once in a decade rainstorm. For 24 hours, it rained non-stop in one of the driest regions on Earth. And we were there, anchored in the middle of it - in the off grid anchorage of Sandwich Bay. From fog and cold Benguela currents to miracle rainfall in the desert, this leg of our journey proves that Namibia's Skeleton Coast is full of wild surprises. Come aboard for a truly off-the-map adventure. Complete with broken gear, muddy decks, and the magic of desert rain. Love remote sailing, rare weather events, and the raw beauty of Africa? SAILING AFRICA'S DIAMOND COAST - NAMIBIA, VAST, DRY & FULL OF DIAMONDS Set sail with us along Namibia's mysterious and rugged Diamond coast - a place where ghost towns rise from the desert sands, seals outnumber people, and boat jobs never end. This week's adventure begins aboard as Rob is crowned the undisputed king of plumbing after saving our water system. But we soon head ashore to explore Kolmanskop, once a glittering hub of diamond dreams, now an eerie ghost town half buried in sand. We also join the friendly folks of Luderitz for their hilariously chaotic fundraiser, the Barrel run. It's beer, wheelbarrows, and a cherry pip that wasn't a cherry pip... After the lush coasts of South Africa, Namibia feels like another planet, vast, dry, and full of surprises. Thanks for joining us on this unforgettable leg of our sailing journey. SAILING AFRICA'S FORGOTTEN COAST with OUR SUPERYACHT CREW We are sailing into the unknown - again. From Cape Town to Luderitz, Namibia. This weeks passage takes us through the eerie fog and icy stillness of Africa's Skeleton Coast, a stretch so remote early sailors called it the Gates of Hell. But even in the middle of nowhere, we have reasons to celebrate: our sons, Declan and Ivan, just graduated from their super yacht training course. Now certified and ready for ocean work, they are chasing their own dreams - and we couldn't be prouder. Join is for this milestone moment, as we brave ghostly seas, cold nights, and slow sailing to the edge of Namibia - with no wind, too much wind, no internet and one unforgettable memory.
