Hauling out Freelance for the Wisconsin winter is always a sad, sad day for us. It's also a time to reflect on the past season. One of the summer's most memorable experiences was the incredible amount of heavy Canadian smoke that lingered in the Apostle Islands for weeks. We have seen forest fire smoke on Lake Superior before, but never anything like this.

We have never hunted for lobster before but Minerva Reef is the place to do it, and the South atoll in particular is an incredible place with abundant life. We had heard that if you walk out to the breaking waves at low tide, you can jump in the holes in the reef and look underwater to try your luck and catching them with your bare hand.
