Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 25 We’ve landed in Lombok ✨ Picked up the car and pointed it north, heading straight for the heart of the island. This leg of our journey takes us through Lombok’s remote centre — winding roads, lush rainforest, quiet villages, and landscapes that feel beautifully untouched. Our first stop was Tetebatu, where friendly locals welcomed us with warm smiles and not great English. We explored the Monkey Forest, wandered through emerald rice terraces, and discovered a magical hidden waterfall tucked deep in the jungle. Some of the roads we travelled definitely didn’t feel like they were made for a car… but we trusted Google Maps anyway 😅 With plenty of wrong turns and getting lost more than once, the adventure only got better. Along the way, we stumbled across a stunning blue lake that stopped us in our tracks. After days of rain, we continued on to Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu waterfalls. The power of the water was incredible — thundering, alive, and absolutely beautiful. Nature at its wildest. With memories full and the road still calling, we set our sights west, ready for the next chapter of our Lombok journey. Come along for the highs and lows of life at sea – the joy of community, the challenge of sailing, and all the fun we get up too !!! Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 20 In this episode, we say goodbye to the beautiful island of Scawfell and continue our journey further south to Percy Island, a place rich in sailing history and unforgettable memories. We visit the legendary Percy Island Yacht Club (the Percy Hilton) and leave a little piece of Moor R & R behind in the hut — adding our memorabilia to the countless boats that have passed through before us. It’s a special moment and a reminder of how connected the sailing community truly is. Behind the beach, we discover something completely unexpected — a network of quiet creeks that lead us deep into the mangroves. Exploring by paddle board, we stumble upon a breathtaking tree system that feels just like a Secret Everglades. Still, wild, and incredibly special, it’s one of those places that stops you in your tracks. We then head toward Island Head Creek to try our luck crabbing… but the ocean has other plans, and our pots are raided before we get a chance 😅. After the adventure, we move on to Port Clinton for a couple of days to rest and recharge before setting our sights on Great Keppel Island, where we’ll be spending Christmas. Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 19 We’ve finally left Mackay behind and pointed Moor R & R toward the stunning Scawfell Island — a destination we’ve been eager to reach for a long time. The sail across the bay definitely kept us on our toes. What we expected to be a calm, easy crossing turned into a lively ride with stronger winds and bigger waves than we planned for. But that’s sailing life… unpredictable, humbling, and always rewarding in the end. As soon as Scawfell Island came into view, every bump, splash, and gust felt worth it. The island rises out of the water like its own untouched world, and we could instantly see why so many sailors speak about it with such appreciation. It’s an absolute unspoiled treasure — wild, peaceful, and beautifully secluded. Once we dropped anchor, we headed off to explore and were blown away by how many hidden creeks and passages reveal themselves at high tide. Each one felt like stepping into a quiet, secret pocket of nature. Calm waters winding beneath thick green bush, bird calls echoing in the stillness, and the kind of tranquility you can only find on an island that remains largely untouched. Scawfell has that rare ability to make you breathe a little deeper and move a little slower. It’s the kind of place that resets you without you even realising it. kicknbakfloats.com.au Discount Code - MOOR15 for a 15% discount Come on board with us as we wander its shoreline, discover its tucked-away gems, and soak up everything this gorgeous island has to offer. We start in the heart of Mackay at Fifth Lane, wandering through vibrant street art and colourful murals — the talent here is incredible! Then it’s off to the Sandfly Creek Environmental Reserve, where we ride through changing landscapes of mangroves, saltmarsh, wetlands, and open pathways. Such a hidden gem! Next, we hire a car and drive 70km west into the lush rainforest of Eungella National Park. Our goal: the two breathtaking waterfalls and rock pools of Finch Hatton Gorge. Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 16 Set sail with us as we leave Rabbit Island and enjoy an absolutely fantastic sail across the bay with just the Code Zero out. The winds lined up beautifully, and before long we were dropping anchor in stunning Victor Bay — honestly, in my opinion, this bay might even rival Whitehaven Beach. It’s that beautiful! We explore Keswick Island by water and land, discovering a gorgeous little pebbly beach and then tackling the island’s walking tracks… and yes, those hills are STEEP (did I mention steep?). Basil and Arthur Beaches are both picture-perfect and well worth the hike. Later we meet up with fellow sailors for afternoon sundowners, unwind in our Kick N Bak FLOATS water hammocks, and soak up that magical island atmosphere one last time. Then it’s time to say goodbye to Keswick as we make our way back to Mackay to leave the boat for a couple of weeks. Thanks for joining us on this journey. Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 15 This week, we sail into the Newry Island Group — a place we’d never even heard of before — and what a hidden gem it turned out to be! 🏝️ Newry Island was actually the first resort built in the Whitsundays, dating all the way back to the 1920s through to 2001. The place is full of untold stories and a quiet charm that time seems to have forgotten. We hiked both Outer Newry and Newry Islands, each with its own character and beauty, then tried our luck crabbingagain — and finally had success! 🦀 Three in total this time! Hunting and gathering life isn’t easy, but it sure is rewarding. We also explored Mausoleum and Rocky Islands — both absolutely stunning and surprisingly untouched for somewhere so close to the coast. Most people just pass them by, but trust me, they’re worth the stop. To wrap up the week, we tucked into Rabbit Island to hide from the northerly winds and enjoy some calm days in nature. Join us for another slice of Whitsunday paradise — history, crabbing, and peaceful island life aboard Moor R & R. 💙⛵️ Come along for the highs and lows of life at sea – the joy of community, the challenge of sailing, and all the fun we get up too !!! Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 14. Wow — this week’s adventure was one I’ll never forget! We travelled to some of the most remote and untouched islands in the Whitsundays — places few ever get the chance to explore! Our journey begins at Goldsmith Island, where we explored the bay and spotted so many turtles gliding through the clear blue water. Gary even caught a few sharks — what a moment! 🦈 Next, we set sail for Cockermouth Island, an absolute paradise that left me speechless. From its crystal-clear waters and rocky islets to a little cheeky skinny dip, this place had it all! I could have stayed much longer, but the winds had other plans. Then it was off to Brampton Island, which completely surprised us! From hiking Brampton Peak for incredible views, to walking the sandbar between Carlisle and Brampton, and even exploring the peaceful Pelican Island, there was so much to love about this spot. It’s been an unforgettable week of adventure, nature, and island magic — so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s episode aboard Moor R & R. 💙⛵️ Come along for the highs and lows of life at sea – the joy of community, the challenge of sailing, and all the fun we get up too !!! Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 13. This week we’re off exploring Shaw Island and Thomas Island, and what an adventure it turned out to be! We took the tender out to Maya Cave, an incredible natural formation — definitely one of those wow moments. The best time to visit is around mid to high tide, when you can glide right in and really take in its beauty. Next, we explored the creek system near Saba Bay and walked across to the other side of Shaw Island — such a peaceful and scenic spot. As the winds picked up, we moved around to Burning Point for a bit of shelter before heading over to Thomas Island. Thomas absolutely blew us away — from hiking the rock on Little Tom Island to walking across the main island and looking out over those crystal-clear blue waters, every moment was breathtaking. And to top it all off, we stopped at the beautiful Naked Lady Beach on our way home — the perfect ending to another amazing week in the Whitsundays. 🌴💙 Come along for the highs and lows of life at sea – the joy of community, the challenge of sailing, and all the fun we get up too !!! This week aboard Moor R & R, Episode 12 we’re back in Airlie Beach to restock the boat, give her a good clean, and pick up a few essentials (including our usual stop at Bunnings, of course!). Next, we haul out at Shute Harbour for some maintenance — but it’s definitely not the kind of haul out we’re used to! Boat life throws us another little challenge when our tender battery goes flat, sending us back to Airlie Beach for a quick fix. Once everything’s sorted, it’s time to get back to the good stuff — exploring! We spend a few incredible days at South Molle Island, hiking and biking the 14 km of trails with absolutely stunning views. The water was crystal clear and full of life — an underwater paradise! 🐠💙 Next, we set sail for Sid Harbour, where we spent a few unforgettable days exploring this breathtaking part of the Whitsundays. We hiked to the Whitsunday Peak, the tallest point in the islands at 437 metres. It was a tough 3-hour return trek (with a well-earned rest at the top!) but absolutely worth every step for those jaw-dropping views. ⛰️✨ During our stay, we explored Lady Island and the surrounding beaches — each one more beautiful than the last. Finally, we made our way to Gulnare Inlet to try our luck crabbing again.
