Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 17 This episode is packed with adventures as we explore the many surprises Mackay has to offer before heading off on our next sail. We start in the heart of Mackay at Fifth Lane, wandering through vibrant street art and colourful murals — the talent here is incredible! Then it’s off to the Sandfly Creek Environmental Reserve, where we ride through changing landscapes of mangroves, saltmarsh, wetlands, and open pathways. Such a hidden gem! Next, we hire a car and drive 70km west into the lush rainforest of Eungella National Park. Our goal: the two breathtaking waterfalls and rock pools of Finch Hatton Gorge. The hikes are beautiful, the scenery is lush, and the swim at the end is absolutely worth every step — crystal-clear, refreshing, and surrounded by towering rainforest. From there, we fly down to Sydney for four big days at the Sydney Boat Show in Darling Harbour, showcasing our Kick N Bak FLOATS. After a busy weekend, we’re back on the boat to restock, reset, and tick off a few jobs before setting sail on our next adventure. Thanks for joining us each week — your support means the world! Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 16 Set sail with us as we leave Rabbit Island and enjoy an absolutely fantastic sail across the bay with just the Code Zero out. The winds lined up beautifully, and before long we were dropping anchor in stunning Victor Bay — honestly, in my opinion, this bay might even rival Whitehaven Beach. It’s that beautiful! We explore Keswick Island by water and land, discovering a gorgeous little pebbly beach and then tackling the island’s walking tracks… and yes, those hills are STEEP (did I mention steep?). Basil and Arthur Beaches are both picture-perfect and well worth the hike. Later we meet up with fellow sailors for afternoon sundowners, unwind in our Kick N Bak FLOATS water hammocks, and soak up that magical island atmosphere one last time. Then it’s time to say goodbye to Keswick as we make our way back to Mackay to leave the boat for a couple of weeks. Thanks for joining us on this journey. Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 15 This week, we sail into the Newry Island Group — a place we’d never even heard of before — and what a hidden gem it turned out to be! 🏝️ Newry Island was actually the first resort built in the Whitsundays, dating all the way back to the 1920s through to 2001. The place is full of untold stories and a quiet charm that time seems to have forgotten. We hiked both Outer Newry and Newry Islands, each with its own character and beauty, then tried our luck crabbingagain — and finally had success! 🦀 Three in total this time! Hunting and gathering life isn’t easy, but it sure is rewarding. We also explored Mausoleum and Rocky Islands — both absolutely stunning and surprisingly untouched for somewhere so close to the coast. Most people just pass them by, but trust me, they’re worth the stop. To wrap up the week, we tucked into Rabbit Island to hide from the northerly winds and enjoy some calm days in nature. Join us for another slice of Whitsunday paradise — history, crabbing, and peaceful island life aboard Moor R & R. 💙⛵️ Come along for the highs and lows of life at sea – the joy of community, the challenge of sailing, and all the fun we get up too !!! Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 14. Wow — this week’s adventure was one I’ll never forget! We travelled to some of the most remote and untouched islands in the Whitsundays — places few ever get the chance to explore! Our journey begins at Goldsmith Island, where we explored the bay and spotted so many turtles gliding through the clear blue water. Gary even caught a few sharks — what a moment! 🦈 Next, we set sail for Cockermouth Island, an absolute paradise that left me speechless. From its crystal-clear waters and rocky islets to a little cheeky skinny dip, this place had it all! I could have stayed much longer, but the winds had other plans. Then it was off to Brampton Island, which completely surprised us! From hiking Brampton Peak for incredible views, to walking the sandbar between Carlisle and Brampton, and even exploring the peaceful Pelican Island, there was so much to love about this spot. It’s been an unforgettable week of adventure, nature, and island magic — so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s episode aboard Moor R & R. 💙⛵️ Come along for the highs and lows of life at sea – the joy of community, the challenge of sailing, and all the fun we get up too !!! Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 13. This week we’re off exploring Shaw Island and Thomas Island, and what an adventure it turned out to be! We took the tender out to Maya Cave, an incredible natural formation — definitely one of those wow moments. The best time to visit is around mid to high tide, when you can glide right in and really take in its beauty. Next, we explored the creek system near Saba Bay and walked across to the other side of Shaw Island — such a peaceful and scenic spot. As the winds picked up, we moved around to Burning Point for a bit of shelter before heading over to Thomas Island. Thomas absolutely blew us away — from hiking the rock on Little Tom Island to walking across the main island and looking out over those crystal-clear blue waters, every moment was breathtaking. And to top it all off, we stopped at the beautiful Naked Lady Beach on our way home — the perfect ending to another amazing week in the Whitsundays. 🌴💙 Come along for the highs and lows of life at sea – the joy of community, the challenge of sailing, and all the fun we get up too !!! This week aboard Moor R & R, Episode 12 we’re back in Airlie Beach to restock the boat, give her a good clean, and pick up a few essentials (including our usual stop at Bunnings, of course!). Next, we haul out at Shute Harbour for some maintenance — but it’s definitely not the kind of haul out we’re used to! Boat life throws us another little challenge when our tender battery goes flat, sending us back to Airlie Beach for a quick fix. Once everything’s sorted, it’s time to get back to the good stuff — exploring! We spend a few incredible days at South Molle Island, hiking and biking the 14 km of trails with absolutely stunning views. Then we find our own little piece of paradise — a quiet bay all to ourselves — before heading to Lindeman Island, where we stumble across something truly special: two turtles mating right beside the boat. 🐢💙 It’s been a week full of surprises, challenges, and magical moments — just another chapter in our sailing adventure aboard Moor R & R! Along the way, we catch up with our friends Hugh and Maggie and enjoy a hike around Long Island, soaking in those unforgettable island views. 🌴 Then, we set sail to a place I’ve always dreamed of visiting — Bait & Hook Reef. And wow… it did not disappoint! The coral was unbelievable, the water impossibly clear and blue, and the feeling of being out there on the edge of the reef was pure magic. 🐠💙 After a few incredible days exploring paradise, we begin our journey back to Airlie Beach to spend a few days cleaning, restocking, and preparing Moor R & R for her next adventure. 🌊 Sailing the Whitsundays | Snorkelling Manta Bay, Hiking Whitsunday Peak & Fishing Adventures! In this episode, we look the tender to Manta Bay to snorkel among the stunning coral gardens and the incredible underwater manta ray sculptures. The water was crystal clear and full of life — an underwater paradise! 🐠💙 Next, we set sail for Sid Harbour, where we spent a few unforgettable days exploring this breathtaking part of the Whitsundays. We hiked to the Whitsunday Peak, the tallest point in the islands at 437 metres. It was a tough 3-hour return trek (with a well-earned rest at the top!) but absolutely worth every step for those jaw-dropping views. ⛰️✨ During our stay, we explored Lady Island and the surrounding beaches — each one more beautiful than the last. Finally, we made our way to Gulnare Inlet to try our luck crabbing again. While the crabs weren’t biting, we still managed to catch two fish, so dinner was served! 🎣🐟 Join us on this journey through the Whitsunday Islands — full of adventure, beauty, and a few surprises along the way. Join us as we leave Airlie Beach and make our way over to Hook Island in search of the most amazing slice of paradise. From hidden beaches to stunning bays and peaceful inlets, the beauty out here is even more than we imagined. Along the way, we make some awesome stops for snorkeling — the coral was bright and colourful, though surprisingly quiet on the fish front. That changed when we reached Manta Bay, where the water came alive with fish all around us. This journey through the Whitsundays is packed with incredible views, underwater adventures, and the kind of moments that remind us why we love life on the ocean. Join us as we set sail from Airlie Beach to Cape Gloucester, where we catch up with fellow lagoon owners at the annual Lagoon Esplanade gathering – always a time for laughs, good company, and fun on the water. From there, we make our way to Sinclair Bay for a spot of crabbing (with not much success this time!). This episode also brings one of the hardest moments we’ve faced on our journey. We had to say goodbye to our beloved little crew member Layla, whose health had sadly declined. Our boat feels emptier without her, but her spirit will always be with us on our adventures. Come along for the highs and lows of life at sea – the joy of community, the challenge of crabbing, and the love we’ll always hold for our four-legged mate. What a moment! Today I landed my very first fish — a 1.3m Spanish mackerel! 🐟✨ The excitement on deck was unreal as we brought this beauty in. A catch like this is something I’ll never forget. Fresh fish is on the menu tonight, and I have to say… this is one proud first catch! 🙌
