We set out on a snorkelling adventure to track down the five hidden underwater sculptures scattered across three beautiful locations in the Whitsundays. It’s such a brilliant initiative – blending art, marine conservation and exploration – but don’t be fooled... these sculptures are not easy to find! From Manta Rays to Maori Wrasse, we finally uncovered each piece and in doing so, got to really soak in the surrounding coral gardens and marine life (just for admiring, not for eating!). If you’re up this way, this is such a unique and rewarding thing to do – part snorkelling trip, part treasure hunt. Thanks for watching. A quick taster of what we saw at John Brewer Reef and at the MOUA (Museum of Underwater Art) off Townsville today. (Much) more to come but it was a bit too wow to not share straight away. There’s something magic about Hook Reef off the Whitsundays – the aquamarine blues, the thriving coral, the feeling of being far from it all. In this episode, we snorkel crystal-clear waters with friends Jim, Gordo and Oatsey, share a few laughs, and take a moment to reflect on just how lucky we are. Our good mate Jim from Trim also gets a cameo talking about what this sailing life means to him. A day filled with colour, connection and coral, topped off with some very close by whale action. We hope it brings a little of that ocean joy your way. Thanks for watching. Weaving our catamaran into Hill Inlet for the first time was both breathtaking and nerve-wracking. This stunning channel near Whitehaven Beach is known for its beauty – and its shallow, winding approach. We threaded our way in with just 0.1m under the keel, holding our breath as we nudged ARGO through the twists and turns within the inlet. We’d hoped to beach the boat and scrub the hulls on the sand, but with murky water, a swift current, and the tide not in our favour, we changed plans and jumped in where we anchored. It wasn’t ideal, but she got a much-needed clean. Before heading back out, we reassessed everything. Jason walked the shallows at low tide and manually plotted a safe course into Navionics. With the next high tide approaching, we made our move – and slipped back out just before sunset, nerves intact and beers well deserved. ⛵️ In this episode: – First-time sail into Hill Inlet’s narrow, snake-like channel – A tense moment with 0.1m under our keel – Hull cleaning in less-than-ideal conditions – Plotting a manual track out – Escaping safely at sunset, with a beer to celebrate Thanks for watching. We finally did it – our first sail out to the reef off the Whitsundays! It was a little nerve-racking heading out into the deep blue with no land in sight, but we had our buddy boat Trim and our good mate Jim leading the way. And what an adventure it turned out to be. From catching monster squid and fish, to helping rescue a boat that lost its anchor line in the dark (scary stuff out there at night!), this trip had it all. We were so grateful for the fish he shared with us in return (thanks Harry) – and even prouder when we headed off to the next reef solo and made it with ease. Anchoring on the reef is something we’ll never forget. Just us, the ocean, that endless turquoise water… and a sky full of stars. One of the most surreal and beautiful moments of our journey so far. Thanks for watching. Who knew there’d be such a bounty of seafood hiding just behind what has been claimed as the world’s most beautiful beach? We took the tender up into the creek systems of Hill Inlet after hearing rumours of mud crabs lurking in the mangroves – and we weren’t disappointed. A few well-placed pots later and we had ourselves a decent haul. Special shout out to Kev & Kate from @BaittoPlate for the tips and sharing their chicken bait - legends. Then, while anchored in a stunning stretch of turquoise water, we threw in a line and landed some squid… one of which made a last-ditch attempt to escape by squirting ink all over Kym. (Classic squid move, 10/10 for drama.) We topped it off with a beach stop all to ourselves – just us, the sand, and the quiet hum of nature. It’s wild to think how much life is teeming just out of sight in places like this. Hill Inlet isn’t just beautiful above the water – it’s thriving beneath it too. It’s one of those pinch-yourself moments. Every day out here, this trip keeps surprising us. Thanks for watching. What happens when you step out of your comfort zone - on purpose? In this video, Jason takes the helm solo for the first time, sailing ARGO from Cid Harbour to Stonehaven Anchorage off Hook Island in the Whitsundays. It wasn’t about speed or showing off. It was about proving to himself that he could do it - alone. From setting up and raising the mainsail to navigating the passage and dropping anchor, every step was intentional and deliberate. Sailing solo is slower, but it sharpens your awareness, builds resilience, and brings a quiet kind of confidence that only comes through doing. This was more than a sail. It was a milestone. He reflects on: • The mindset behind solo sailing • Taking responsibility for every part of the journey • Why doing it alone matters - just in case, and just because Thanks for watching. We’ve finally made it to one of the most iconic spots in the Whitsundays - Whitehaven Beach. We hiked to the lookout for epic views over both Whitehaven and Chance Bay, then visited Betty’s Beach to take in the surreal beauty of Hill Inlet with its swirling white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water. We’re slowing things down here and taking our time to explore this stunning region and already, we’re completely hooked. There’s just something about the colours, the calm, and the wildness of it all that’s hard to walk away from. This episode follows our sailing journey from the Percy Islands to Mackay and up through the Whitsundays - with a few surprises along the way. We stop at Curlew Island, explore the haunting remains of the old Brampton Island resort (closed since a cyclone hit years ago), and discover both beauty and heartbreak in a place nature is reclaiming. But just when we thought the surprises were over, our blackwater tank exploded — yep, literal 💩 everywhere. A nasty job to fix, but one of those realities of boat life that no one talks about... until now! From wild island beauty to the stinkiest of surprises, this leg of the journey had it all. There’s a lot to consider when you live on a boat full-time, but these five systems have made a big difference to how we manage life afloat. From maintenance to log books, to task and tide tracking, these are the systems we’ve found ourselves relying on the most during our first months living aboard. We’re sharing what works for us not because we’ve got it all figured out - far from it - but in the hope it might help someone else at the beginning of their sailing journey. When we first started out, it all felt a bit daunting. So seeing what other cruisers used (and why) gave us something to hold on to. These systems have been reassuring and grounding for us in these early stages, and hopefully they’ll help someone else feel a little more prepared too. Thanks for watching. We’d been wanting to visit Middle Percy Island for years - Jason to return, and Kym to have her first visit - and it didn’t disappoint. This remote Coral Sea gem is a favourite among cruising yachties, and for good reason. Anchored at West Bay, we stepped ashore to visit the legendary A-frame hut, where boaties from around the world leave their mark and share stories over drinks and wood-fired pizzas. Built in 1979, this rustic meeting place is packed with history and the spirit of camaraderie. We also tackled the one-hour hike up to the old Homestead to learn about the island’s unusual past, meet the local caretaker, and soak in the views. Another unique part of Percy life? The Percy Island Yacht Club. Formed to help with the island’s upkeep, it’s run by cruisers for cruisers, keeping this special place open for all who follow. This island was absolutely stunning and we hope to return one day. For now, we're sharing the magic with you. Thanks for watching. Removing and cleaning the Airmar DST810 transducer can be a nerve-wracking job – especially when water starts pouring in! In this how-to video, Jason takes you step-by-step through the process of safely removing the DST810 from the hull, inserting the plug to prevent water ingress, and giving the unit a proper clean. Even if you don’t have one, watching how this is removed without sinking the boat is surprisingly interesting. Thanks for watching. Planning a sailing passage from Great Keppel Island to the Percy Islands is no small feat—especially for new cruisers like us! From checking tide times and weather windows to choosing the best anchorages, we tackled each leg of the journey with caution, curiosity and a fair bit of research. We split the trip into five legs: - GKI to Corio Bay - Corio to Freshwater Bay - Freshwater to Pearl Bay - Pearl Bay to Hunter Island - And finally, onto the magical Percy Islands It wasn't all smooth sailing though - we had a bit of an 'oops moment' exiting Corio Bay and grazed a rock. No real damage done (except to our pride and my nerves), and it definitely sharpened our focus for the rest of the journey. We also had some of the best sails we’ve had so far on ARGO. It was a trip full of learning, growing confidence, and enjoying the moments that make this sailing life so worth it. In this episode we share • Our route from Great Keppel to the Percy Islands, broken into 5 legs • What we considered when planning a coastal passage • Lessons learned, great sailing, and a minor rock ‘kiss’ Thanks for watching. We set sail for Great Keppel Island – one of our favourite parts of the Queensland’s coast – and it’s every bit as magical as we remembered. Just off the shore from Yeppoon, this island still has all its natural charm, crystal-clear waters, and secluded beaches. After scrambling up some rickety steps and following a winding track through the scrub, we stumbled upon a slice of paradise. Then, with fresh oysters plucked straight from the rocks and a sundowner in hand, it was the perfect end to a perfect couple of days. Next up: we're bunny-hopping our way north toward the Percy Isles with a few coastal stops along the way. Come aboard and sail with us! Thanks for watching. Strong winds up to 32 knots forced us to seek shelter in Pancake Creek, a well-protected anchorage that became our safe haven for 12 days. With some successful fishing and calm-ish waters, it was the perfect spot to wait out the weather. Once conditions eased, we made our way north, stopping at Rodd’s Peninsula before reaching Boyne Creek for some much-needed supplies and a catch-up with good friends. Next stop – the Keppels! We spent a few days in the incredible turquoise waters off Wathumba Creek at K'gari - just breathtaking how pretty it is there. But on our way down the coastline of the bay, found ourselves anchored up in what has become our worst night at anchor yet! The swell forecast didn't sound like it would be too bad, but we ended up feeling like we were in a washing machine - massive bridge deck slaps, rolling up and down like we were on the heavy load cycle of the washer, and no sleep for anyone. Clearly this won't be the last time we have a rough night (no doubt passage crossings will give us another new benchmark) but for newbies, this made us really stop and think about how we are managing and understanding the forecast. Live and learn they say! Stay Connected: Watch more our sailing journey in Playlist 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13ZiSOLxIgE&list=PLD88yS026CBFhZ3tBm0qr20Fm5BWHtOB5&pp=gAQB Thanks for watching.
