We set sail for the stunning and remote Surin Islands, but the journey wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. After leaving Port Klang, we aimed for Pangkor Island, but with the conditions against us, we had to adjust our plans. As night fell, we made a last-minute stop in the Bernam River—only to be surprised by how fast the river currents became when the tide turned. It was a tense night keeping watch over No Regrets 2 as the anchor strained against the rushing water. 🌊⚓ At first light, we resumed our sail north, weaving through busy shipping lanes, dodging thunderstorms, and pushing steadily toward Thailand. After the chaos of the Singapore Strait, we set sail for Port Klang, the gateway to Kuala Lumpur—but the challenges weren’t over yet. As we made our way up the Strait of Malacca, we found ourselves dodging countless fishing nets stretched across the water, often with little to no warning. It turned into a tense and tiring passage as we weaved our way through, trying to avoid getting tangled and risking damage to our gear. ⚓🛑 Despite the obstacles, we made it safely to Port Klang, marking another major milestone on our journey north. We’ve made it to Singapore! 🇸🇬 But this leg of the journey turned out to be far more of an adventure than we expected... A few days into our longest passage yet, we realised we didn’t have enough fuel to make it to Singapore. With no wind in the forecast, we stopped and anchored—waiting patiently for a breeze to return. When it finally did, we sailed to Desaru, Malaysia for an emergency refuel. ⛵😬 Fueled up, we motored the final stretch—straight into the intense, chaotic traffic of the Singapore Strait. Surrounded by giant cargo ships, fast ferries, and constant radio chatter, it was the most challenging navigation we’ve done to date.
