From there, we head into Kuala Lumpur to explore some of the city’s highlights — the impressive Batu Caves, the iconic Petronas Towers, and the dazzling Symphony Lake Water Show. Back at the marina, life gets a little cheeky when a pesky monkey makes its way onto the boats, trying to steal fruit before climbing high into the rigging and leaving us all with a rather unpleasant surprise from above! 🐒🙈 Join us as we continue our Sail Malaysia Rally, blending incredible city adventures with the fun (and challenges) of life afloat aboard No Regrets II. 🌏⚓️ Timestamps if you like to Jump Right In: 00:00 Intro 00:28 Leaving Pangkor Island 03:24 Launching the spinnaker 05:09 Exploring a shipwreck 09:25 Royal Selangor Yacht Club, Port Klang 12:11 Batu Cave 16:42 Monkeys on the boat 19:26 Petronas Towers & WHO ARE WE? We continue our Sail Malaysia Rally with a passage from Langkawi to Penang, and this leg was full of surprises! 🐟⛵ Not long after setting sail, we hooked our first ever fish—but in the chaos of trying to bring it aboard, Chris ended up with a nasty cut on his foot and the fish got away. Thankfully, the ocean gave us a second chance with a beautiful Spanish mackerel, which made for an epic fresh dinner! We arrived into Straits Quay Marina and took time to explore the vibrant island of Penang—famous for its incredible street art, rich culture, and stunning views from Penang Hill, where we met some of the cutest locals: the adorable Dusky Leaf Monkeys. 🐒🎨 Join us as we sail, fish, explore, and discover another unforgettable part of Malaysia! We set sail for the stunning and remote Surin Islands, but the journey wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. As we made our way north, we had to dodge fishing boats dropping traps right across our path, keeping us constantly alert. ⛵⚠️ Once we reached this breathtaking marine park, we were rewarded with crystal-clear water and vibrant reefs—a diver’s paradise. 🐠🌴 This episode also marks an exciting milestone for us: we used our dive compressor for the very first time, running it entirely off our inverter aboard No Regrets 2. In this episode, we leave Phuket with zero preparation—no fuel, no food, and no anchorage stops planned. 😬 But we’re not alone. We’ve teamed up with another cruising boat and set sail together toward the remote Surin Islands, figuring things out as we go. The passage is completely unplanned, but that’s what makes it fun (and a little stressful). We’ve made it to Singapore! 🇸🇬 But this leg of the journey turned out to be far more of an adventure than we expected... A few days into our longest passage yet, we realised we didn’t have enough fuel to make it to Singapore. With no wind in the forecast, we stopped and anchored—waiting patiently for a breeze to return. When it finally did, we sailed to Desaru, Malaysia for an emergency refuel. ⛵😬 Fueled up, we motored the final stretch—straight into the intense, chaotic traffic of the Singapore Strait. Surrounded by giant cargo ships, fast ferries, and constant radio chatter, it was the most challenging navigation we’ve done to date. In 2020, we continued our exploration further north, and by 2021 and 2022, we circumnavigated Australia, discovering breath taking locations along the way. Having previously owned fishing and water-skiing boats, our passion for sailing deepened after crewing in South Australia, leading us to make the leap into full-time living at sea. We hope to inspire you, just as we were inspired by other YouTube channels, to chase your dreams and explore the wonders of this beautiful world.
