We relieve each other from watch, trying to find our rhythm and slowly adjust to life offshore. Resetting our body clocks to match our new watch schedule, is one of the most important parts early on of a long passage. The calm conditions are helping for now, but in reality, only time at sea can truly make the routine feel natural. The nerves need to settle and we need to get sleep At 32 degrees south, we are still a long way from where we need to be. Thousands of miles of open ocean lie ahead, before we reach our first landfall — the remote island of St Helena at 15 degrees south. This opening stretch of the Atlantic crossing we expect to be the most challenging, whilst calm now, we need to work our way north out of the shifting high and low pressure systems to reach the more settled and predictable trade winds. And this is only the beginning… By the time we arrive in the Caribbean, we will have sailed more than 7000 nautical miles, crossing from 32 degrees south all the way to 12 degrees north. Day three of our shakedown cruise on my new yacht started anchored off Koh Larn, but we decided to sail about 15 miles west to the uninhabited island of Koh Phai. This turned out to be exactly the kind of place I dreamed about when buying this boat — white sand beaches, beautiful clear water, the dogs running around on shore, and a peaceful anchorage all to ourselves. After taking the pups to the beach, we headed back to the boat and inflated a huge floating island off the stern. The dogs, Olivia, and I spent the afternoon lounging in the water before taking the Highfield dinghy around the island to explore. We found a few makeshift beach lounge areas that looked like spots where tour operators bring guests during the day, but by the time we were there, the island felt completely empty. To finish off the day, I cooked Olivia a steak dinner onboard — not a bad way to spend day three on the new yacht. Thanks for watching Sailing Doodles! Beim Start (hier nicht im Bild) war überraschend viel Wind, was viele der Teilnehmer auch zum Reffen ihrer Segel veranlasste. Der Wind ließ auf der Kreuz schnell nach, was dann insb. die großen Yachten für sich nutzen konnten. Allen voran SY Intoxicated - sonst nicht unbedingt ein Anwärter auf den Tagessieg. So kommt doch mal etwas Spannung in die arg gebeutelte Gesamtwertung, schließlich sind 3 der bislang 5 Wettfahrten ausgefallen. Wir hoffen auf noch bessere Bedingungen kommenden Mittwoch, noch 2 Wettfahrten bis zur Sommerpause ...

Corrida mixada com caminhada de exploração inicial da trilha Santa Luzia x Bombinhas em Santa Catarina, em 06/06/2026, tendo cerca de 16 Km. Eu disse exploração inicial devido ao fato de ter iniciado a mesma por volta das 12:30 horas e com ameaça de chuva e também devido ao fato da bateria do celular ter arriado após ter chegado na praia do Cardoso, antes da praia de Zombros, achei por bem não fazer a devida exploração das inumeras praias nessa rota. Em vários trechos eu fiz caminhada para poder registrar nas fotos e vídeos, e em trechos de aclives e em outros trechos sem grandes atrativos eu fiz corrida leve para adiantar a chegada em Bombinhas, antes que caísse chuva. Destaques para a praia vermelha, praia de Morrinhos com seus barcos piratas com passeios de baixo custo na baixa temporada, e no Canto Grande em Bombinhas onde na chegada ao entardecer fiz um lanche maravilhoso na Baiuca du Canto, na rua Jequitibá, com pastel de camarão e açai com banana a um preço módico.

Wir laufen leer! Seit vier Monaten sind wir auf Kuba und langsam geht unser Dieselvorrat zur Neige. Dabei haben wir noch einige hundert Seemeilen bis in die Dominikanische Republik vor un, wo wir den Rest der Hurrikansaison verbringen wollen. Gegen den Wind, Welle und Strömung. Ohne Diesel ein kleines Himmelfahrtskommando. Also bleibt uns nur eine Möglichkeit: Wir müssen einen Abstecher nach Jamaika wagen - hin und zurück sind das etwa 270 Seemeilen. Einchecken können wir dort nicht, denn auf Kuba müssten wir dazu erstmal auschecken. Aber der nächste Port-of-Entry liegt ganz im Osten der Insel.
