Dann erwischen wir den falschen Weg, stehen bei Sonnenuntergang auf dem Gipfel und müssen im Dunkeln 400 m steil bergab zurück zum Boot. ⛵ DAS ERWARTET EUCH IM VIDEO – unser Experiment: Schafft es die Crew ohne Papas Hilfe zur nächsten Insel? – Panarea, die kleinste bewohnte Äolische Insel – ein falscher Abzweig, und aus 20 versprochenen Höhenmetern wird der Gipfel – Sonnenuntergang über den Äolischen Inseln – der Abstieg im Dunkeln, nur mit Handytaschenlampen – eine Stille, wie wir sie selten gehört haben 🧭 DAS EXPERIMENT Normalerweise bringt uns Chris sicher von Insel zu Insel. Aber was, wenn er mal krank ist? Also übernehmen Brigitte und die Jungs: Felix steht am Steuer, Samuel kümmert sich um die Segel. 11 Seemeilen von Lipari nach Panarea. 🌄 DIE NACHTWANDERUNG Eigentlich wollten wir nur eine kleine Runde laufen. Geworden ist es der Gipfel, Sonnenuntergang inklusive, und ein Abstieg über steile, zugewachsene Pfade mit wackeligen Steinen. Now her we are, in French guinea of all places, up a river in the Amazon jungle. After being on a Rolly boat at sea only stopping in Rolly anchorage’s, it feels like we haven’t slept on a calm surface for months. Now safely moored in a river, away form the presence of waves and ground swell, our last couple of nights sleep has been nothing short of a hibernation! Wer beispielsweise einen Inverter braucht, der Strom von 12 auf 220 Volt pushen soll, der ist jenseits der Grenzen der EU vollkommen verloren. Wer aus Europa ordert, wählt oft den Umweg über die USA und nutzt sogenannte Shipping Agenten, die die Ersatzteile dann zum Boot liefern. Aber das gleicht in Zeiten der Trump'schen Strafzölle einem Himmelfahrtskommando. Die USA halten die Hand auf, das Empfängerland auch. Wir haben von Fällen gehört, wo sich für einen Warenwert von 199 USD die Gebühren, Zölle und Versandkosten auf 1400 USD summiert haben. Das muss doch auch anders, vor allem günstiger, gehen! Das Zauberwort heißt "Yacht in Transit". In manchen Ländern ist es gängige Praxis, in anderen ein gewagtes Unterfangen. Denn in manchen Republiken giert der Zoll - oder deren Beamte - nach Geld. Welcome to Episode 11! In Part 3 of Jinnie’s Apron & Stem restoration, we join boatbuilder Alan and our apprentices at Pioneer Sailing Trust as they take a closer look at one of the more challenging stages of the whole boat restoration process. It’s a careful, steady process that requires patience, precision and plenty of problem-solving! The team begins by locating the end of the existing apron and using a plywood bridle to help position the stem. With multiple angles and bevels to consider, getting everything to line up correctly is no easy task. The stem and apron are bolted together, so accuracy is essential. After gluing many thin pieces of timber together to create the new components, it’s time to see whether the patterns match the original apron and stem before work begins on the new pieces. The apron and stem prove more complex than the transom, with their multiple shapes and bevels adding an extra layer of difficulty. The original apron itself is made in two parts, meaning the team must take great care to preserve its shape and avoid any breakages. Apprentice Leon gets hands-on, measuring the widths of the old apron and transferring them onto the new timber to establish the beading and ghostline. Every measurement matters, every angle counts, and every stage offers another opportunity to learn. In this episode Saoirse is stuck in Genova for almost a month, while we ensure the mast is structurally sound following the impact damage from the cargo ship. Boat projects include: - Replacing the icemaker and drink fridge..their location by the stern exposes them to damaging salt water - Replacing the starter batteries. After 3 years they are not cranking like they should - Continuing our Starlink installation, with the mounting of the dish on the flybridge roof - Polishing away some oily slime that coated the yacht while in transit - Ultrasonic inspection of the mast - Replacement of the Echopilot forward-facing transducer in the hull, also damage during shipping - Addressing problems with the black water tank level sensors....grinding the problem away - Receiving and installing the new (warranty replacement) jib sail - Receiving and hoisting the new (warranty replacement) mainsail. **Una barca veloce è davvero una buona barca?** La velocità massima non è tutto! In questa nuova puntata di *Nautica in Pillole* scopriamo perché comfort di navigazione, qualità della carena e sicurezza sono spesso più importanti delle prestazioni pure. **Velocità massima e qualità di una barca: cosa conta davvero?** Quando si valuta una barca a motore, la velocità massima è uno dei parametri più considerati. Una barca molto veloce può indicare un buon rapporto peso-potenza e una motorizzazione adeguata. Ma questo non significa necessariamente che sia una buona barca per navigare in ogni condizione. Uno degli aspetti fondamentali è il **comfort sull'onda**. Una carena ben progettata deve riuscire ad affrontare le onde, tagliandole e limitando rimbalzi, colpi e impatti che possono rendere la navigazione faticosa e poco piacevole. **Carena veloce o carena confortevole?** Le barche progettate principalmente per raggiungere velocità elevate non sempre garantiscono il massimo comfort con mare formato. In alcuni casi, ridurre la velocità non basta per ottenere una navigazione piacevole, perché il comportamento dipende anche dalla geometria e dalle caratteristiche della carena. Una buona carena dovrebbe garantire prestazioni equilibrate sia alla massima velocità sia alle velocità intermedie, soprattutto durante la normale navigazione da crociera. **Velocità di crociera: perché 21-23 nodi sono così importanti?** Molti diportisti utilizzano la propria barca a motore a velocità di crociera comprese tra 21 e 23 nodi. Per numerose barche plananti, questo intervallo rappresenta un buon compromesso tra velocità, consumi e comfort. È proprio alla velocità di crociera che trascorriamo gran parte del tempo durante una navigazione. Per questo una barca deve offrire stabilità, comfort e un comportamento prevedibile, senza affaticare eccessivamente chi è a bordo. **Sicurezza in navigazione: il comportamento della carena sulle onde** Un altro elemento essenziale nella scelta di una barca è la sicurezza. Una carena deve mantenere un comportamento controllabile anche quando incontra onde irregolari o condizioni di navigazione difficili. Durante le prove in acqua può capitare di incontrare imbarcazioni che, affrontando onde di appena 50-70 centimetri a velocità sostenuta, reagiscono con bruschi rallentamenti e improvvisi cambiamenti di assetto. Situazioni di questo tipo possono diventare pericolose, soprattutto navigando a 25-30 nodi. **Come riconoscere una buona barca a motore?** La vera qualità di un'imbarcazione non si misura soltanto dai nodi raggiunti, ma dall'equilibrio tra prestazioni, comfort, consumi e sicurezza.
