Episode 433 : Hello Friends, On this episode I attempt to extend my visa and find that once again the Indonesian government has changed the rules and the immigration office refuses to extend my visa forcing me to have to clear out of the country early. Indonesia is known as the absolute worst country to deal with when it comes to paperwork for sailing through their country (as far as countries where people regularly cruise by sailboat). They constantly change the rules over night and make things even more complicated than they need to be. Many yachts clear out before the border because the harbor master at the final clear out office is known to be corrupt and rips off anyone who clears out there. 2025 BALBOA YC GOVERNOR'S CUP (Sun 3 Aug 2025) — End of Semi-Finals and Finals

The Bavaria 37 Cruiser (2007) offered here is an exceptional example of meticulous ownership and continuous upgrading. Owned by her second private owner, this boat has never been chartered and has spent each year since new in a strict summer sailing / winter dry storage cycle.  In 2023–2024, she was sailed from Finland to Greece as part of a sabbatical cruise and lived aboard full-time, making her comprehensively equipped for serious offshore cruising and extended liveaboard use. With extensive upgrades from 2021 to 2025 this Bavaria stands out as one of the best-kept and best-equipped examples available in Greece today. Mechanically, the boat features a reliable Volvo Penta D1-30 engine, a serviced saildrive with a new diaphragm, and a folding 3-blade propeller. Energy needs are fully supported by a 412Ah LiFePO4 battery bank, 470W of solar, and a Victron Multiplus inverter/charger system.  Electronic systems include a full Raymarine suite with radar, autopilot, AIS transceiver, NMEA2000 backbone, and a Starlink Mini and Glomex 4G system for internet connectivity. ‘Blacksmith’ is a 2013 X-Yachts Xp 50 listed exclusively with YOTI in Sydney. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/x-yachts-xp50-blacksmith This is a performance yacht designed to be sailed fast with confidence for both race and regatta sailing, and also speedy passage making. All new rod rigging was installed in July 2023. The sail wardrobe was largely updated new from 2022 – 2024 which included new in-boom furling main, #3, #4, and the A2. In addition, there is a #1, furling Code 0 and A3 with furler. All six winches are electric and these couple beautiful with the in-boom furler. This is a large, fast yacht which can be easily handled by a short-handed crew. There is a bow thruster for easy docking. Instrumentation is by Garmin and B&G. All Garmin 7 inch displays were installed new in 2022. There is auto-pilot, AIS and Iridium Go. Accommodation is beautifully finished and practical. The large owner’s cabin is forward with ensuite; the saloon is spacious and the nav station / control centre easily doubles for comfortable seating when it’s time to be below decks. The galley is impressive with front opening fridge and top opening fridge / freezer. There is a second large day head with shower plus two full size double aft cabins. There is a pipe bunk for additional storage or berth when needed. Importantly there is a Spectra water maker. ‘Blacksmith’ is an impressive performance sailing yacht with significant and recent updates. X-Yachts are simply one of the most highly respected manufacturers globally and the Xp 50 is a stunning model. ‘Blacksmith’ has been optimized for fast sailing while also covering those bases to be an extremely capable cruiser.
