We finish sailing across the Atlantic after 28 days at sea and arrive at Horta on the island of Faial, Azores. We had to sail very conservatively to protect the rigging so the journey ended up taking much longer than we had hoped. Getting into port with the rig still up was our priority, so we took the win 😁 We are very pleased to have made the crossing back to the Azores from the Caribbean. Nova Vita performed brilliantly the whole way. The rigging was repaired whilst we were here. We ordered 2 new inners which came from the mainland and which we fitted ourselves (a simple task). Horta is a great place to spend some time and it was good to relax here after the crossing.

MOIN! Es geht früh aus der Koje. Der Watt'n Segler liegt Wangerooge Ost vor Anker. Mit dem ersten Morgenlicht geht der Anker auf und es geht durch das Wangerooge-Wattfahrwasser zur Salinenbucht. Hier fällt erneut der Anker in Watt und wir fallen hier mit dem Boot trocken. Zu Fuss geht es dann durch das Salinenwatt zur Insel-Bäcker. Il ne fait pas très chaud, évidemment, mais le vent établi à 15/16 nœuds et le plan d’eau juste un peu clapoteux garantissent d’excellentes conditions d’essais... ► Malgré ses 20 tonnes, le remplaçant du 4.8 et du 5.4 parvient à tenir les 7 nœuds de moyenne au près bon plein et grimpe même à 10 nœuds avec le Code 0. ► A bord, on retrouve toutes les caractéristiques du 5.8 – porte arrière basculante, porte avant, pontage intégral et immense flybridge. La coque #1 que nous avons essayée était une 1 + 3 cabines, mais le 5.2 se décline en 3 cabines, en 4 cabines 2 + 2 ou encore en 5 voire 6 cabines (plus d’éventuelles pointes avant). With a touch of Christmas spirit in the air, the crew donned festive Santa caps, adding warmth and humour to the occasion. The Royal Varuna Yacht Club in Thailand is a hidden gem, with a stunning view towards Ko Lan, a small island in the Gulf of Thailand. The club also hosts World Championships for major dinghy classes. There is also a thriving catamaran section with large fleets of Formula 18s, Dart 18s and Hobie 16s. For foiling sailors the incredible Switch dinghy is built nearby at Element 6 Evolution, and it's an ideal place to learn to fly. Royal Varuna Yacht Club organises the world-famous King's Cup Regatta, held in December every year, which is well established for keelboats and has a growing dinghy fleet.
