Can you really sail around the world in a small sailboat? For the data behind the video check out the link below: https://bit.ly/3TRfIib Well, we've hit the end of the year, and we're getting rocking and rolling into 2026. I wanted to share a quick video on the current state of the catamaran market and how those trends compare to the year before. 2025 was definitely a VERY interesting year, and we definitely saw pricing coming down for buyers. It will be interesting to see how the trend continues into 2026. I suspect we'll see a modest increase in sales price, a reduction in time on market, and less inventory. From the conversations I've had with buyers who have contracted boats in the last 30-45 days, we're definitely seeing a more positive buying mood due to interest rates coming down, and the US stock markets at all-time highs. Only time will tell. If you would like for us to generate a custom market report for a catamaran you are interested in buying, or if you own a catamaran and curious about the value of your boat don't heistiate to reach out. Prints available at http://art.alluringarctic.com until end of February 2026! This time we sail the super popular H-boat in Finland (and of course we visit a sauna!). If you're in North America there's a very good chance that you've never seen this boat, but they're extremely popular in Europe, especially in the Nordics and on the lakes in Central Europe. It's the second-most produced keelboat in the world (after J24! 💥 Want to support the creation of these videos? This episode marks the end of our Canary Islands chapter — for now. After sailing through the archipelago, we arrive on El Hierro, the westernmost island of the Canaries and our final destination before pressing pause. From the marina in La Estaca, we set out to explore two more places that feel important to share. We travel south to La Restinga, a small fishing village. A place where celebration, tradition, and global realities meet. We also visit El Julan in the Valle de El Julan, one of the island’s most important pre-Hispanic sites, offering a quiet glimpse into El Hierro’s deep history. Along the way, this episode reflects on perspective, privilege, and how traveling by sailboat can shift the way we see our own challenges. I am Nike, a former solo sailing woman who is currently sailing with my partner on his sailboat, a Hallberg Rassy. I document our journey as we continue sailing the Canary Islands and beyond. My videos share real sailing stories — the beauty, the doubts, the logistics, and the emotional side of sailing full time. Untie The Lines is for those who are curious about sailboat travel, the sailing lifestyle, and alternative ways of living that prioritize connection, simplicity, and presence over speed and certainty. Whether you dream of sailing the world one day, or simply enjoy thoughtful travel stories from the water, you’re very welcome here. Facing the challenges of solo sailing as a female sailor, I navigated the highs and lows of single-handed sailing while tackling DIY boat repair projects, from engine fixes to full boat refits on a budget. My life aboard was a mix of adventure and reflection, shaping an independent woman’s story of resilience, personal growth, and embracing the sailing lifestyle. Along the way, I became an ocean conservation activist with In Mocean, stumbled across my dog Boga, and discovered the joys and challenges of sailing with a dog. Now, I’m exploring a new chapter, having jumped aboard my partner’s Hallberg Rassy Rasmus with Boga and his Australian Kelpie, Jango. Together, we face the unique dynamics and challenges of sailing as a couple, balancing off-grid life, sustainable sailing, and the demands of long-term cruising. If you’re interested in remote sailing adventures, authentic sailing stories, and the realities of living on a sailboat, this channel offers a glimpse into the world of DIY projects, the sailing lifestyle, and life’s transformative moments on the water. In this episode, we finally replace our Spade anchor with a brand-new setup, visiting the excellent chandleries in Canet-en-Roussillon to get Helios ready for the next stage of our journey. Being back in Canet is surprisingly emotional. This is where we first laid eyes on Helios and where our sailing adventure began. Three years later, after more than 6,000 nautical miles sailing around the Mediterranean, it’s a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come and the incredible friends we’ve made along the way. Along with the new anchor, we also picked up a Grippy Anchor Buoy to improve visibility when we’re at anchor — something we’ve been meaning to do for a long time. With bad weather forecast, we decided to wait one more day before heading south into Spain. When the window opens, we enjoy a beautiful sail to Roses, where we finally put our new anchor and buoy to the test. A practical upgrade, a bit of nostalgia, and another memorable sail aboard Helios. Paddleboarding past limestone caves and coral heads in water so clear every fish shows up. Then a sweet nurse shark circles the boat looking for attention, before we climb the mast for the new radar dome and fire up the chart plotter to see if it works. In this episode of Sailing Dark Angel I take out my paddleboard to explore the caves and stunning features of the limestone shoreline at Big Majors in the Exumas. The crystal-clear water reveals vibrant coral and schools of fish gliding below. After we spend time with the shark circling our boat begging for attention, we finally install our new Raymarine radar dome. ⚠️ The lightning strike changed everything on Dark Angel, and we’re still rebuilding piece by piece. This is a look back at our sailing year 2025: from Crete through the Cyclades to Athens. Through the Corinth Canal to the Ionian Sea and back again. Along the Sporades islands and the three peninsulas to Chalkidiki, on our way to Turkey, where we celebrated Christmas. Sailing through the Bosphorus in Istanbul and watching the fireworks on New Year’s Eve!

We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. Two ongoing jobs are preparing for our electric motor installation and creating a cockpit enclosure for our wheelhouse. When we bought Vida in August 2019 she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working).

► On the second-hand market for boats under 40 feet, the Lagoon 380 has become the must-have. Admittedly, this bestseller, which saw more than 900 examples built, has aged pretty well and offers remarkable comfort for its size... but for budgets just over €100,000, there are other models to consider, such as the Athena 38 by Fountaine Pajot, which offers two advantages: it is more affordable than the Lagoon and is faster under sail! ► Launched at the La Rochelle boat show in September 1994, the Athena 38 was positioned between the Tobago 35 and the Venezia 42. All the models in this second generation, designed by Joubert/Nivelt, are characterized by their blunt bows, very rounded shapes on the inside (the miracle that polyester GRP must have been for naval architects long familiar with wood, steel, aluminum, and chined bilges!) and finally the overhanging coachroof cap, which is the one feature that would be retained and still remains today. ► Lightweight and well-canvased, the Athena 38 is lively and fun to sail from the single helm station – positioned on the aft face of the coachroof, on the starboard side. Obviously, the relatively short length and skeg keels reduced do it no favors when close-hauled in bigger seas, but in all other conditions, this little catamaran will surprise more than one helmsman with its performance - which can be boosted by decent sails and the installation of folding propellers. ► The model Graham presents to us is from 2001 and is a three-cabin version - the entire starboard hull is dedicated to the owner. The nacelle offers a rounded saloon that can easily accommodate six people, a chart table/desk, and a U-shaped galley. Logically, there is only one bathroom per hull. On the starboard side, Graham has a fully equipped workshop. Admittedly, the comfort is somewhat rustic, the sill at the entrance to the nacelle is a higher than we see today, the sugarscoops are not particularly wide and the paneling is a little worn in places... but for a nearly 25-year-old multihull purchased for €115,000, the Athena 38 still has a lot to offer and, above all, can take you anywhere: An excellent base for refit! ► Technical specifications: Builder: Fountaine Pajot Architect: Joubert/Nivelt Interior design: Olivier Flahault Length: 38’ (11.6 m) Beam: 20’8” (6.3 m) Draft: 3’1” (0.95 m) Air draft: 59’ (17.85 m) Light displacement: 12,125 lbs (5.5 t) Sail area: 947 sq ft (88 m²) Motors: 2 x 20 HP Fuel: 180 l Water: 360 l Second-hand price: from €100,000 ex-tax ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! In this episode, we learn firsthand why it's essential to listen to a local's "request", cycle around Huahine Nui, move the boat to a new spot, and bid farewell to Everett before heading to what many say is the best anchorage in the Societies—the southern tip of Huahine. NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? If you wish to support our video efforts, all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, SHARE our videos with your friends, AND COMMENT! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TO KNOW US MORE DEEPLY? Reading the Telltales on Your Sails - https://www.practical-sailor.com/sails-rigging-deckgear/reading-the-telltales-on-your-sails If your headsail never seems to set quite right — the top luffs first, the foot is strapped tight, the boat won’t quite point, or everything just feels a little “off” — the issue isn’t your sail. It’s your sheeting geometry. In this Practical Sailor video, we break down why adjustable jib and genoa tracks are one of the most effective performance upgrades you can make to any cruising sailboat. We look at how jib car tracks actually work, why they make such a dramatic difference to sail shape, twist control, pointing ability, and comfort, and how they compare to fixed toe-rail sheeting or improvised “floating” leads. We’ll also cover real-world hardware costs, track options, installation considerations, and what to expect if you’re retrofitting a boat that never had proper tracks in the first place. Whether you sail a coastal cruiser or a performance-oriented masthead rig, adjustable leads let you finally use the full shape your sailmaker built into your headsail — increasing efficiency in light air, improving control in heavy air, and reducing flogging, heeling, and crew effort across the entire wind range. Keywords: jib tracks, genoa tracks, jib cars, sail trim, headsail twist, toe-rail sheeting, sail control systems, Practical Sailor, cruising upgrades, sailing performance, genoa lead angle, how to trim a jib, sailboat retrofits, cruising sailboat upgrades, headsail efficiency, upwind performance. After last week’s episode, where you saw us sailing through a sudden squall in the South China Sea, we finally arrived at Tarempa, the capital of the Anambas Islands, Indonesia, aboard our sailboat SV Reeva. One of the most common questions we receive as a liveaboard sailing family is: How do sailboats check into another country? In this episode, we explain how to enter Indonesia by sailboat, covering the full Indonesia immigration process for yachts, especially in a remote cruising destination like Anambas Islands. To make the international boat clearance smooth, we took the help of a local Indonesia sailing agent. In Indonesia, the customs and immigration clearance for sailboats happens onboard. Government officials visit the yacht, including Port Control / Harbour Master (who checks boat registration and safety documents), the Health Inspector, Customs, and Immigration officials. Once all boat papers and passports are verified, our passports are taken ashore and returned with official Indonesian entry stamps. With clearance complete, we are legally checked into Indonesia and ready to continue our sailing adventure in Southeast Asia. The Anambas Islands are one of Indonesia’s hidden sailing paradises, known for crystal-clear waters, untouched coral reefs, quiet anchorages, and pristine island life. This episode marks the true beginning of our Indonesia sailing journey. Join us as we share the real side of boat life, cross-border sailing, and life on a sailboat, as we continue exploring Indonesia aboard SV Reeva. 👉 Follow our journey: 📸 Instagram: @the_reeva_project 📘 Facebook: The Reeva Project -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- पिछले हफ्ते के एपिसोड में आपने देखा था कि कैसे हम एक तेज़ स्क्वॉल से गुज़रते हुए आगे बढ़े, और अब हम पहुँच चुके हैं तेरेंपा, जो अनाम्बास आइलैंड्स, इंडोनेशिया की राजधानी है। ⛵🌊 Sailing into Indonesia Anambas Islands Indonesia Terempa Anambas Sailboat immigration process How to check into Indonesia by boat South China Sea sailing Liveaboard sailing couple Sailing vlog India The Reeva Project SV Reeva #thereevaproject #sailingindonesia #anambasislands #boatlife #liveaboardlife #indiansailors #svreeva #southchinasea #indiansailingfamily #CruisingLife #thereevaproject #lifeatsea
