Along the way, the boatyard confirms a haulout date for the following day, so we head straight to their moorings. The next morning, we attempt our first haulout using a trailer system, but challenging conditions and a trailer issue force us back to the mooring for another night. With approximately 400 square metres of usable space, unusually generous head heights and wide passageways, the UHV 100 has proportions that you would normally associate with a much larger vessel. The yacht is built using advanced composite materials, with an emphasis on durability, structural integrity and long-term reliability. Lazzara also manufactures most of its components in-house rather than relying heavily on subcontractors, allowing the shipyard to maintain close control over construction and finishing. Katia begins her tour on the foredeck, where a large lounging area and Jacuzzi take advantage of the yacht's elevated position above the water. The technical equipment is cleverly recessed, keeping the working areas separate from the spaces used by guests. The upper deck offers a particularly generous lounge, complete with a bar, cinema area and games table. Outside, there is another entertainment area with a concealed television, grill and retractable shade. The wheelhouse is equally impressive, with a striking curved staircase and a design that feels more like something you would find aboard a considerably larger yacht. Inside, the attention to detail becomes even more apparent. Different wood finishes distinguish the decks, while large windows, floating floors and carefully selected materials contribute to the feeling of space and quiet throughout the yacht. The full-beam owner's suite is located forward on the main deck, with panoramic views, two walk-in wardrobes and a marble bathroom. Four additional guest cabins are situated on the lower deck, bringing the total to five. She also explores the galley, which has been designed with family use and extended cruising in mind, before visiting the crew accommodation and engine room. And it is in the engine room that some of Lazzara's most interesting engineering decisions become clear. Redundant systems, a centralised seawater intake and extensive use of hard piping demonstrate the shipyard's approach to building yachts intended to remain dependable over many years. Having previously visited the smaller UHV 87, Katia is already familiar with Lazzara's construction philosophy. But the UHV 100 takes that approach further, combining the practicality of a long-range cruising yacht with the space and finish of a much larger superyacht. **60 Days in the Philippines — Searching for a Place to Call Home** It's been two months since I arrived in the Philippines, looking for a place where I might settle down and begin a new chapter of my life. I've spent much of that time exploring Negros Oriental, including Dumaguete, Dauin, and the beautiful island of Siquijor. There are three things about the Philippines that continue to impress me: the extraordinary natural beauty, the warmth and friendliness of the Filipino people, and the affordability of everyday life. From tropical beaches and colorful marine life to small towns and ordinary daily experiences, I'm getting a better feel for what living here might actually be like. At 68, starting over in another country is quite an adventure. I'm not in a hurry to make a permanent decision. For now, I'm enjoying the experience, discovering new places, meeting people, and seeing where this journey takes me. This episode begins with me sailing away from the Lockhart River in almost no wind, creeping along and hoping to reach Portland Road before sunset. Eventually the breeze arrives — all the way up to 23 knots on the beam — and ARGO lights up, pushing past 7 knots as I tick over a big milestone: 5,000 nautical miles sailed since buying the boat. Getting into Portland Road comes with a very real reminder of where I’m cruising. As I return to ARGO in the tender, I spot a large crocodile nearby. It’s incredible how vulnerable you feel in an inflatable tender when you lose sight of a croc… especially when the water is so shallow you have to row the first 30 metres before you can start the outboard. Later that night, I shine a light under the hull and see sharks prowling beneath the boat, adding to the wild atmosphere of Far North Queensland. My next stop is Forbes Island — a remote, rarely visited paradise that’s not easy to reach. But the reward is worth every mile: a white sandy beach, a few palm trees, and turquoise water that looks unreal. It’s the kind of place that reminds you exactly why living aboard a boat is worth the effort. A perfect spot to enjoy a cold beer and watch the sun go down. After so much time apart, catching up again out here in the Whitsundays makes the arrival even more special. We're soon joined by our other friends aboard Sea Dog, and the anchorage quickly becomes a gathering place for cruising friends, stories and good times. She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main ‘action’ cameras are an Insta Ace pro 2 and a DJI Action 4 while the ‘big camera is a Canon R50. All use Dji mini wireless mics or a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Back up is a Canon 200d. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. I also have two drones, a Magic mini2 and Mavic pro Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over several days. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea:I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage.
