Use code ATTICUS at the link below and get 60% off an annual plan: https://incogni.com/atticus After months of hard work, the finish line is finally in sight. In this episode, Jordan tackles the last of the electrical work that will bring power to our mountain property — wiring sub-panels, connecting the meter base, and fixing a few painful mistakes along the way. This is the final piece of a three-part series documenting our push to get the property ready so our family can finally move up the mountain and start living here full-time. It’s been a long road filled with trench-digging, wiring, and a few battle scars — but by the end of this episode, the power’s on, the water’s flowing, and the land finally feels alive. In this video, Boat Builder Bob Emser walks us through the process of painting the hull of a Wood Duck 12 kayak for a durable, professional finish. Starting with surface prep and masking, he apply smooth, even coats of marine grade paint to bring out the kayak’s elegant lines and protect the wood from the elements. We also tackle a key interior detail adding texture to the cockpit Bilge paint from TotalBoat, for improved grip and safety. You’ll see how to mix and apply non skid additive to create a subtle, functional texture that complements the kayak’s natural beauty. Whether you’re finishing your first boat or refining your technique, this step-by-step guide offers tips on: Proper sanding and surface prep before painting, choosing and applying marine paints for wood kayaks, masking for crisp paint lines and creating a textured bilge surface with non-skid paint additive. Watch through for practical tips, close-up shots of the process, and a few lessons learned along the way to help your kayak shine on the water! “If you’re going to make it, make it beautiful.” Bob Emser As an advocate for backyard boat builders I offer a free 30 minute chat about your project. ⛵✨ In this week’s episode of The Reeva Project, we’re gearing up for one of our most exciting adventures yet — sailing from Tioman Island, Malaysia to the Anambas Islands in Indonesia, a 130 NM passage across the South China Sea! 🌊 But before setting sail, we take you behind the scenes into what marina life looks like when preparing a sailboat for a long passage. From cleaning the decks to fixing a leaking freshwater pipe, it’s all hands on deck! Vaidehi also preps homemade Indian masalas to make cooking easy during the long sail — because nothing beats good food at sea 🍛. Just when things seemed ready, our bilge pump stopped working, only two days before our Malaysian visa expired! Thanks to our amazing sailing community in Tioman Marina, we managed to get spares and fix it in time. This episode is a true slice of boat life reality — where you’re the owner, plumber, electrician, and chef — all in one! Come aboard as we fix, prep, and get ready to sail towards Indonesia’s hidden paradise — the Anambas Islands. ⚓ 🛥️ Follow the Adventure: 🚨 Don’t forget to subscribe, hit the bell icon, and join us on this epic sailing journey to one of the most remote and breathtaking islands in Indonesia. In this episode, we explore the evolving anchoring rules in several French Polynesian islands, specifically Fakarava, Tahiti, and Moorea. The local government has recently attempted to implement a system limiting both the number of boats and the designated anchoring zones. Perhaps they are trying to replicate Bora Bora's model, but they lack the established infrastructure that makes it work. Bora Bora is unique in French Polynesia as the only place where boats are required to use a paid mooring ball. The cost is $60 for one night, $40 per night for a multi-night stay, or a flat rate of $600 per month. A ranger collects fees daily and picks up garbage twice a week. Moorings are available in four areas: the Yacht Club, the SW corner, near Bloody Mary’s, and the SE corner. While there are two locations where you can anchor for up to 36 hours, they are in very deep or bommie-filled waters and do not offer easy access to the main town. To learn more about these changes and the amazing marine life in this special lagoon, be sure to check out our video! #anchoring #dpam #frenchpolynesia #toopua #borabora NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? ► Full test in Multihulls World N°205. ► McConaghy stole the show at Cannes with this first MC68 in a Flybridge version. Designed for making long passages in complete comfort with a crew, this model is capable of reaching double-digit averages, as evidenced by the numerous carbon elements incorporated into the construction and the deep daggerboards. ► At Port Canto, the MC68 set our mouths watering with its ultra-modern coachroof and its lines kept tight thanks to a continuous chine. You can see that the step in the deck - a McConaghy hallmark - is there, but it’s much more discreet than on the “smaller” models. Also noteworthy: the double front doors, access to the nacelle from the side-deck, and the twin helm stations set as far aft as possible on the flybridge. The luxurious interior of the MC68 that we tested offers three guest cabins and one crew cabin as standard, with a four or even five double cabin layout also available. ► Technical specifications: Builder: McConaghy Architects: Ker Yacht Design Length: 67’11” (20.7 m) Beam: 30’2” (9.2 m) Draft: 4’7”/12’4” (1.4/3.75 m) Upwind sail area: 2,766 sq ft (257 m²) Water: 264 US gal (1,000 l) Fuel: 422 US gal (1,600 l) Engines: 2 x 80 HP ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! Innovation meets design in the all-new Ranieri International Cayman 50.0 Hard Top. The hard top is built entirely in carbon fiber, while the hull construction uses vinylester resin — a choice that ensures strength, durability, and top-level performance.Sustainability also plays a role: recyclable materials highlight the shipyard’s commitment to the future. With its 14.4 meters in length and a constant 4.3-meter beam, the Cayman 50.0 offers impressive stability and comfort. The outboards are mounted on a hydrodynamic bracket that also integrates the retractable gangway — part of the hull itself. On deck: space, safety, and freedom of movement. And thanks to the home automation system, every onboard function is managed from the main displays — even from the steering wheel paddles. A refined balance of technology, comfort, and Italian craftsmanship. @mauriziobulleri @ranieriinternational . #TheBoatShow #RanieriInternational #Cayman50 #YachtingInnovation #MadeInItaly #LuxuryBoats #CarbonFiber #SmartYachting #SustainableDesign

And the closer we came to the “exit” of the Gulf of Corinth on the west side, the more we saw the bridge near the city of Patras appear. It is the longest cable-stayed bridge in the world, about 2,880 metres long, connecting the Peloponnese peninsula with mainland Greece. There were quite a few challenges in building the bridge, as the foundation had to be placed in deep water with a loose seabed, and there is seismic activity and tectonic movement in this area because the Gulf of Corinth is slowly expanding. The bridge was opened shortly before the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. The vertical clearance under the bridge deck is approximately 52 metres in the widest central section. In the side sections (less central), the height is considerably lower, around 32 metres, and at the very edges about 15 metres.

What better way to live and explore than aboard this legendary 1986 Passport 40, a Robert Perry design revered as one of the most capable and sought-after sailboats ever built? This iconic sloop blends exceptional seaworthiness with impressive speed, thanks to its modified fin keel and skeg-hung rudder. Equipped for adventure, it features a fully battened mainsail, three jibs, and a spinnaker, with all lines led aft for short-handed sailing. This Passport 40 boasts oversized rigging for enhanced strength and reliability, and the removal of teak decking eliminates the need for sanding or patching leaks, while the stunning teak cockpit retains its classic charm. Free from the gel-coat blistering common in boats of this era, this vessel is a testament to quality craftsmanship. Whether you’re sailing into the bay among the whales or chasing the horizon south, this Passport 40 is an exceptional find for serious cruisers seeking new adventures. Imagine yourself in a tropical paradise, where humpback whales give birth just outside the marina, teaching their young to breach, soaring airborne before crashing back into the sea with enormous splashes. You untie the dock lines and sail among them, propelled by the wind in the sheltered bay, with the faint sound of mariachi music drifting across the water. This is the allure of international cruising, and with Mexico’s proximity to the USA, you’re never far from home.
Howdy folks — Mark here from Nomad Boatbuilding! Today I’m tackling one of the hardest jobs in wooden boatbuilding: fiberglassing a glued-lapstrake hull. Using WEST SYSTEM epoxy, fiberglass tape, and peel ply, I test a new approach to strengthen the bottom of a lapstrake boat destined for rocky beaches and mooring wear. You’ll see how I: Apply fiberglass tape plank by plank Use peel ply for a smoother, faster finish Mix, roll, and trim epoxy cleanly Learn a few lessons along the way (including a late-night mistake!) It’s all about problem-solving and experimenting to make traditional boatbuilding stronger and more efficient. ⚓ Like, Subscribe & Comment if you enjoy wooden boats and epoxy work! #Boatbuilding #Lapstrake #WoodenBoats #Epoxy #Fiberglass #NomadBoatbuilding #WestSystem #MaritimeCraftsmanship #DIYBoatbuilding
Join us as we continue our sailing adventure in Brazil aboard SV Excelsior! We settle into the stunning Stella Marina Marina at Barra de São Miguel, the perfect base to explore the breathtaking Praia do Gunga — one of the most beautiful beaches in the Alagoas region. We swap sails for wheels and get our adrenaline fix on an epic quad bike tour along this famous stretch of coastline, with massive dunes and incredible ocean views all around. Back on board, it’s another day in the life of cruisers — the fridge needs fixing (again!) before we can set sail. But the ocean has a surprise for us… During our final swim, we have an unforgettable encounter with a gentle manatee and her calf. Just when it’s time to say goodbye to our new friends at Stella Marina, things take a turn — Excelsior’s keel gets caught on a neighbouring boat’s floating anchor line. Will we escape this one and continue our journey north? At first glance, they look like any other boat. But look closer, and you'll see the grime, the sun-baked lines, and the unmistakable signs of neglect. No one ever comes. The owners have disappeared, leaving behind a financial and legal time bomb. This isn't just a few forgotten boats; it's a "ghost boat" epidemic. Fueled by the pandemic buying boom, easy credit, and a market that has now collapsed, new owners are finding themselves trapped. When the dream of boat ownership turns into a financial black hole, many just... walk away. But the boats, and their costs, don't disappear. We investigate the crisis, exploring why marinas are legally powerless, who really pays the bill for these abandoned vessels, and how the entire industry saw this coming. ⏱️ CHAPTERS: 00:00 The Ghost Boat Epidemic 01:01 The Real Cost of Boat Ownership 02:33 Why Marinas Can’t Remove Ghost Boats 03:54 Who Pays for Abandoned Boats? 05:17 How the Boat Market Blew Up — Then Collapsed 06:59 Dockmasters on Ghost Boats 08:34 When Boats Become Financial Traps 09:57 Are You Headed for Boat Trouble? 11:14 The Industry Saw It Coming 13:16 What Happens to Abandoned Boats 15:21 Can We Fix the Ghost Boat Crisis? 17:57 The Final Warning 🔔 Subscribe for more deep dives into the topics that matter. 💬 What do you think? We’re in the Wrangell, Alaska shipyards with Alaskan Gypsy, our 80-foot steel motor-sailer under full restoration. The weather’s cold, the fairing compound won’t cure without heat, and my big diesel furnace rental quit—so I pulled this new Vevor portable diesel heater straight out of the box and put it to work. This isn’t a studio review; it’s a real-world torture test. I run the heater nonstop for a full week in a drafty paint tent, measure temps, fuel burn, and reliability, and share what I actually think of it after living with it. Full disclosure - Vevor sent me this heater at no charge, but I have purchased quite a variety of their products before including an earlier model portable diesel heater that I intended to install on our first steel motor-sailer. I haven't installed it yet because I started using it as portable heat on my job sites warming things like the tool shed and the sauna I was building... I didn't want to leave it on the boat it worked so good. Vevor has set up some links for the heater, and other options and a 5% off code. If you have any questions about the heater please comment below.
