Genau hier beginnt unser Leben auf dem Segelboot. Der neue Bootsalltag startet ruhig. Wir putzen, räumen um und auf. Die Sonne scheint, wir erledigen die ersten Wege an Land. Über die Fähre geht es zum Waschsalon, Heizdecken und Lebensmittel kaufen. Während die Wäsche in fremden Maschinen läuft, wächst unser Einkaufskorb und mit ihm das Gefühl, wirklich angekommen zu sein. Zurück an Bord reißt mich plötzlich ein lauter Alarm auf dem Boot aus der Stille. Unsicherheit, Sorge um die Tiere. Ich betrete das Segelboot, suche panisch nach den Katzen und finde nur eine. Zum Glück kommt Hilfe. Tomas, der uns das Boot verkauft hat, ist sofort da. Schnell wird klar: ein Bilgenalarm. Erleichterung. Wieder einmal zeigt sich, wie unvorhersehbar und lehrreich das Leben an Bord ist. Trotz Kälte, Feuchtigkeit und Eiszapfen ist für uns klar: Ein Hotel oder Airbnb kommt nicht infrage. Das Bootsleben in Schweden fordert uns und schenkt uns gleichzeitig etwas ganz Besonderes. Wir essen zusammen, spazieren stundenlang, entdecken die Umgebung und genießen die gemeinsame Zeit. Nach vier Tagen heißt es Abschied nehmen. Als Marzena Schweden verlässt, wird es nicht mehr dunkel. Das Licht bleibt. Und mit ihm eine wundervolle Erinnerung. Tomas, der Vorbesitzer unseres Bootes stand immer mit Rat und Tat in dieser Anfangszeit bereit. Das er neben seiner Arbeit auch noch freiwillig viele Schichten beim schwedischen Seenotrettungsdienst absolviert, hat uns sehr beeindruckt. They are also back on record pace, 196 nautical miles ahead of the record pace set by Francis Joyon on IDEC Sport in 2017 of, 40 days 23 h 30 m 30 sec. And have a 10-hour and 59-minute lead over Francis Joyon’s crew.

Epic Navigator In this video, we analyze a real incident at Alimos Marina, where a monohull stops at the narrowest point of the entrance, blocking traffic under westerly wind conditions and creating immediate risk for surrounding vessels and the harbor entrance. This is not a discussion about infrastructure, marina design, or lack of assistance. It is a discussion about seamanship. Seamanship is not defined by equipment or facilities. It is defined by judgment, situational awareness, and responsibility toward others at sea. In this analysis, we break seamanship down into three fundamental principles: 1.Does the action help the skipper without putting others at risk? 2.Does it improve or obstruct the flow and safety of the surrounding environment? 3.Would the same action be acceptable if it were done to us? Using real footage from a Greek marina, we examine how individual decisions can escalate risk for everyone, especially in confined spaces and adverse wind conditions. As per the title, we have blisters all over the hull. Blisters are an osmosis issue where water gets inside of the hull material, forming water pockets which start to degrade the actual fiberglass. After nearly a year of planning and waiting, we finally begin building out the heart of our onboard electrical system ⚡⛵ In this episode, we tackle a major refit milestone by designing and installing the core power infrastructure for our catamaran. We’re building a native 24V and 48V electrical system, and the first big decision was relocating critical power equipment out of a deck locker that posed a serious water intrusion risk. Instead, we converted the forward captain’s berth/office into a dedicated utility room — safer, drier, and far more serviceable. To support the electrical gear, we built a custom structural wall using 1-inch Coosa board laminated with 1/4-inch fiberglass for strength and rigidity. As we mocked up the layout, we discovered that not everything would fit as planned — the large inverters had to be moved to an adjacent wall, forcing a rethink of the design before final installation. With the wall bonded in place using bolts and Sikaflex, we mounted a significant portion of our power system, including: Victron inverter and transformer Two battery chargers DC/DC charger 24V and 48V DC bus bars AC electrical panel(s) This Victron equipment has been stored away for nearly a year while other refit priorities took precedence, so finally getting everything mounted and positioned feels like a huge win. The system is coming together, and the next major step will be wiring and commissioning the power plant.
