Welcome back to another episode of WE|Sail. EPISODE 336 Last week, we dove with black tip reef sharks - curious, peaceful, harmless. This week? Bull sharks. One of the most aggressive and dangerous shark species on the planet. We sailed to a new island in Fiji specifically for this: to dive with bull sharks for the first time. They're territorial, unpredictable, and capable of thriving in both saltwater and freshwater, which makes them one of the few sharks that venture into rivers and shallow coastal areas where humans are. They're in the top three for unprovoked attacks on humans. And today, we're getting in the water with them. This isn't something we're doing casually. We're diving with Kuata Barefoot Resort, one of the only places in Fiji where you can experience bull sharks in a controlled, professional environment. The dive masters know these sharks individually—they've named them, studied their behavior, and created a safe way for people to witness these apex predators up close. But here's the thing: this operation feeds the sharks. And when we found out, we had mixed feelings. Feeding changes their behavior, conditions them to associate humans with food. It's not how we prefer to see wild animals. But this team does it with extreme caution, respect, and years of experience. And honestly? The experience was unforgettable. Getting in the water, my nerves were through the roof. But once we were positioned and watching these powerful animals move through their environment, a calm washed over me. They're beautiful, commanding, effortless. You feel the respect immediately—you're in their world. We survived. The swim started with a steady pace, gradually building through the middle kilometres before finishing strong in the final 1,000m. José, um indígena guna aqui de San Blas, veio até nosso barco com uma canoa feita de um só tronco de árvore e o remo de madeira.  Ele se ofereceu para limpar o casco, como não precisávamos, ele nos perguntou se queríamos comprar lagosta para colaborar com ele, dissemos que sim, então do veleiro o vi, ele foi até os corais aqui pertinho, mergulhou, pegou algumas coisas e voltou.  Ao chegar, vimos que ele tinha um caranguejo enorme e três lagostas.  Uma parecia uma barata gigante e não nos animamos a comer essa. Haha. Ele disse que essa lagosta é boa para as mulheres comerem quando estão deprimidas.  Quando dissemos a ele que queríamos a lagosta, vimos uma alegria e motivação enormes nele, que havia conseguido um novo cliente, algo que também nos deixou felizes em ver a alegria dele.  Nos cobrou  pelas duas lagostas e o caranguejo 20 dólares, demos duas cervejas para ele e com isso nosso novo amigo  José se foi super contente. #sanblas #guna #panama #vidaabordo #mar

In this video I'm performing a three pass shave, using the above shaving products. First of all I wet my whiskers with warm water. Then I wet the brush and load it up with the shaving soap. Simply by rotating the brush in the soap tub. Then I face lather the soap by taking the brush to the face and using the brush to work in small amounts of water, until a nice lather is formed. In this episode, we finally make our move north from Nieuwpoort, Belgium aiming for the start of the Standing Mast Route in the Netherlands. The plan was simple enough: take advantage of a rare winter weather window, ride the favourable tide, and push on toward Holland… or, if the North Sea had other ideas, tuck into one of the safe harbours along the Belgian coast. As it turned out, the weather won this round. With snow, storms, shifting channels, and a tight tidal gate, we diverted into Blankenberge — a stop we’d already marked as a smart fallback. That “quick stop” turned into nearly a week of exploring the town, wandering the seafront, riding the world’s longest tram line, and settling into marina life in the middle of winter. Magnus also takes you through his full passage‑planning system for this leg: tides, currents, weather windows, fallback ports, VHF channels, lock timings, and all the decision points that go into moving a boat safely up this wild stretch of coast. One hundred and twenty-four years ago, the RMS Titanic was lost, and over 1,500 people died in the North Atlantic. It’s a date that’s stayed with me for most of my life. As a child, I remember trying to understand it—how something so large, so advanced, and so full of confidence could simply disappear. It didn’t quite fit into my understanding of how the world worked. Later, as a young professional sailor, the story took on a different weight. Cold water became real. Not theoretical—real. The idea of entering it, surviving in it, and what that actually means in practice… that changes how you see the ocean. Now, after years at sea—this being my 37th transatlantic and over 340,000 miles sailed, including two circumnavigations—I still mark the position of the Titanic on my chart every time I cross the Atlantic. Not out of sentiment. Out of respect. Because the lesson is simple, and it hasn’t changed: The sea doesn’t change. The responsibility stays the same.
