GranOcean W72 Power Catamaran features review by BoatTEST The 2026 GranOcean W72 is not just another 72-footer. it's a semi-custom power catamaran engineered to live like a yacht twice its size. With a commanding 32'8" beam carried fully forward, the W72 delivers interior and exterior volume more commonly associated with vessels well over 100 feet. In this in-depth BoatTEST features review. The impressive, fully customizable GranOcean W72, with naval architecture by Howard Apollonio, engineering, advanced composites, and materials from Gurit SP, and custom interiors by Vripack, is a big, bold luxurious powercat offering massive exterior deck space combined with equally significant interior space, all this and more running on a stable platform designed to spend significant time away. Features include: 🔹 Five-Suite Layout — Three guest suites with private heads to port and two VIP suites with private heads to starboard. Semi-custom configurations allow the W72 to be tailored to each owner's lifestyle. 🔹 Salon & Galley — A Fisher & Paykel 36" panel-built-in French Door refrigerator, a Bosch Benchmark Series 30" black frameless induction cooktop, and a triple-leaf sliding Lewmar salon door with flip-up window that opens the entire main deck to the cockpit. 🔹 The Flybridge — Available in open or fully enclosed configurations. Helm to starboard, wet bar, two teak dining tables, hardtop mast, two helm chairs, and a private head. The main deck helm is available as an option. 🔹 Cockpit & Bow Living — Two teak cockpit dining tables, a port-side cockpit bar with stools, storage, and sink. The bow takes full advantage of the 32'8" beam carried fully forward — designed for seating, casual dining, and panoramic cruising views. But now, she’s moving again. The lines are off, the engine is purring, and we’re finally back where we belong, out here on the open ocean, with nothing but horizon ahead and miles disappearing beneath the keel. This is the beginning of a 7,000 plus, nautical mile journey across the Southern Atlantic, bound for the Caribbean. After not sailing for so long, it is A distance that feels almost too big to comprehend, unless we break it down, one passage at a time. And it all begins with this first step, 50 miles north to a small island off the coast of South Africa. - - - A successful drying-out operation requires anticipation, observation and a few essential precautions. In this video, Luc Jurien, CEO of Alubat shipyard, shares his practical advice for safely drying out an OVNI yacht. The nature of the seabed — sand or mud —, the possible presence of swell, and the boat’s position are all key factors to ensure a safe and stable grounding. Luc also reminds owners of the importance of closing all seawater inlet valves, especially on muddy bottoms, to prevent mud from clogging the pipework. The new generation of OVNI yachts, featuring a flat-bottom hull and twin rudders, makes drying out particularly easy. The sailboat settles naturally in a very stable position on its 10 mm aluminium hull plating. Even if the rudders sink slightly into the sand, they never carry the weight of the yacht. Thanks to their lifting keel configuration and all-aluminium construction, OVNI yachts are designed to explore the most remote anchorages, live in harmony with the tides, and also take advantage of drying out to inspect the hull or clean the bottom with complete peace of mind. A practical solution that often avoids the need for slings or a travel lift to check or maintain the hull. A useful insight for sailors looking for greater confidence, autonomy and freedom.

Before I officially take possession of my new yacht, we head out for some of the final sea trials to track down a strange noise coming from the electric drive system. The issue seems to be somewhere around the Python drive, CV joint, electric motor, and prop shaft. We try several different adjustments and manage to reduce the noise quite a bit, but we still can’t quite get it completely solved. After the sea trial, I also give a full rundown of the electric drive system, including the motor setup, drive batteries, house battery bank, and the components that make this electric catamaran work. This yacht is almost ready, but as with any new boat, there are still a few gremlins to track down before I can officially call her mine. Thanks for watching Sailing Doodles! They might have been involved in major grand prix offshore racers before, but getting Gitana 18 up onto her foils for the first time was a very big deal for the team. This is a project that is pushing at the boundaries at the most extreme end of the sport and could well define the next generation of deep ocean foiling machines. So when Gitana 18 lifted onto her foils, albeit just on port tack, heads turned. Here's what it looked like. Plus, we talk exclusively to one of the key players on the design team Sebastien Sainson about where the project is, what happens next and what the thinking was behind their very unusual interior.
Follow these three simple steps to avoid the diesel bugs to live and grow in your fuel. In this video I show you what I do to keep the fuel bugs away. We got the diesel bugs some years ago, and we do not want to get them back. To reduce the risk of bacteria growth in our fuel, we follow these simple steps: 1. Keep the tank full all the time. 2. Use fuel additives. We use this stuff from Alron: https://www.garasjetid.no/alron/a10/alron-dieseltilseting-0-5l-smører-og-vedlikeholder-din-motor 3. Drain a little bit of fuel from you tank two times a year. This will help you to win the battle over the fuel bugs. --- Boost your YouTube audience with vidIQ. The Storm Bay 45 sits in a very different part of the boating market to many of the high-performance yachts we feature on this channel. This is not about speed, excess or burning huge amounts of fuel to get from marina to marina. Instead, the Storm Bay 45 focuses on something many boat owners eventually start prioritising: efficient long-range cruising, predictable operating costs and the ability to genuinely live aboard for extended periods of time. For many self-funded retirees, that balance becomes incredibly important. In this series, we take a proper look at what makes the Storm Bay 45 such an interesting platform for couples looking to explore the coastline at displacement speeds while remaining comfortable, practical and financially sustainable to own. We also discuss anchoring, shore access by tender, onboard power solutions, solar possibilities and the realities of long-term cruising on a fixed budget because that’s the part brochures rarely explain properly. Can cruising actually be affordable? This might be one of the strongest arguments for displacement boating we’ve tested so far. The final stretch to Colombia… and after everything this passage threw at us, the wind completely disappears. After battling storms, big seas, a shredded headsail, and days offshore, we spend the entire night drifting slowly toward Cartagena at just 2–3 knots. If we’d had enough fuel, we could have arrived the night before — but instead we’re left floating offshore, eager to finally complete the passage and make landfall. Luckily, our amazing friends come to the rescue, bringing fuel out to the entrance of the port so we can safely motor the final miles into the marina, step onto land for the first time in days, and finally celebrate making it to Colombia together. From a Captain’s Perspective | Episode Two For captains, buying the part is often the easy part. The real value is knowing who to call when something goes wrong. In this next instalment of From a Captain’s Perspective, Captain Bobby shares why technical support and after-sales service matter just as much as the product itself. From gyros and pumps to electrical systems, having a trusted supplier who can help troubleshoot, solve problems quickly and support the long-term performance of your vessel makes all the difference. Ein Plan B muss her.

Day 46-47 of the 75 Hard Challenge and it's another combined update video. Yesterday was a busy one as I had a consultation with an orthopaedic surgeon regarding my ongoing knee problems. What amazed me was the speed of the healthcare system here in Greece. Within 30 minutes of my appointment, I had already been sent for both an X-ray and an MRI scan. If this had happened back in the UK, I'd probably still be waiting for the initial appointment! I've already received copies of the X-rays and next Wednesday I'll be returning to collect the MRI report before heading back to the surgeon to discuss the results and the best course of action moving forward. The surgeon's initial thoughts are that I may have ruptured my meniscus, which would certainly explain some of the issues I've been experiencing over the past few months. The frustrating part is that I was starting to feel like my running was getting easier and the knee was improving. However, I've been given strict instructions not to run until the MRI results are reviewed, so for now it's back to lower-impact exercise and following professional advice. Aside from the knee situation, everything else is going well with the challenge. The workouts are getting done, the water intake is on target, the reading is completed, progress photos are taken, and the diet remains clean. Another couple of days closer to the finish line. Thanks for following the journey and for all the support. I'll keep you updated once I have the MRI results and hopefully a clear plan for getting this knee sorted once and for all. #75Hard #WeightLossJourney #FitnessChallenge #MensHealth #MRI #KneeInjury #MeniscusTear #RunningJourney #Discipline #Motivation #Transformation #FitnessOver50 #HealthJourney #NeverQuit #VirolisProject ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ***** CONNECT WITH US ***** Don’t forget to Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/carlandjenny // Like for daily pictures and stories from us both See our latest pictures on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/CarlandJennysailing // Follow for great pictures from Carl and Jenny Get our latest updates on Twitter https://www.twitter.com/carlandjenny // Follow to get our real-time updates ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ***** CAMERAS ***** Interested in what gear we use? Day 2. Adrenaline. And Determination. Sea Trial Day 2 aboard the all-new Sabre 38 with Volvo Penta DPI propulsion. With all systems confirmed from Day 1, this is where we begin gathering the real performance data. Throughout the day, the team records RPM, trim angle, speed, fuel burn, and handling characteristics across a range of operating conditions to help determine optimal cruising performance and top-end speed. Beyond the official numbers, we also conduct additional in-house testing including sound readings, joystick maneuverability, and hardover turns to better understand how the Sabre 38 performs in real-world conditions. Sea trials like these are an important part of refining the overall experience before delivery and ensuring the boat performs the way a Sabre should. Sea Trial Day 1 for the all-new Sabre 38 with Volvo Penta DPI propulsion begins in Raymond, Maine. Before we can gather real-world performance data, the boat first needs to be transported from the factory to the marina and put through a full systems check on the water. This stage is all about validation. Testing the new Volvo Penta DPI system, confirming prop selection, checking engine data, and making sure every system onboard is operating exactly as intended. These first runs give the team a chance to make adjustments before official performance testing begins. Once everything is confirmed and running properly, we can move into Day 2 and begin collecting the true performance numbers for the new Sabre 38. In this video I share 7 sailboats that might actually outlive their owners. In this short clip you can see how we like to change jibs as we go through a tack. By doing a jib change in this way, it makes it easier on the bow team to both raise the new jib and lower the old jib in an organized way. If you can plan ahead so that your jib change can be done through a tack, it saves a lot of hassle.
This is a great entry level boat! The Mercruiser 4.3 TKS is a great power plant and has been recently serviced and has a new impeller. 190Hp at the prop and 405 hours. Snap out carpets are a great option and easy to keep clean. There is cockpit and bow covers but no bimini top for the wakeboard tower. There is a Kenwood CD stereo (no Bluetooth, but easy to add). The interior is in good shape and clean. The captains chair is bolstered and the wheel is a tilt steering wheel. Comes on the single axle trailer with brakes and swing tongue. Summerized and ready to go! Drop by @shuswapmarina today to check it out! This is a consignment sale, no trades, thanks! Check out our friends at www.sascu.ca for financing options!
