Dans l’air du temps, ce catamaran de croisière est proposé, en option, avec une propulsion électrique hybride Joool. L’hydrogénération, combinée à un parc de 1’600 W de panneaux solaires, permet de recharger efficacement des batteries lithium de dernière génération. Côté propulsion vélique, le Leopard 52 prend également un coup de fouet : son mât gagne un mètre et la grand-voile est désormais à corne. Résultat : 17 % de surface de voilure supplémentaire. Le travail d’optimisation s’est aussi porté sur le poids, avec un gain d’environ 100 kg par rapport au Leopard 50 (cela peut certes paraître anecdotique mais gardons à l’esprit que ce bateau fait deux pieds de plus). Spain’s Karol Krupski moved into the overall lead in the men’s ILCA 7 fleet after four races and one discard. Despite a 13th-place finish in the first race of the day, Krupski bounced back with a second place to sit on four net points. Short-period waves, gust fronts and uneven pressure define the session. These are not beginner conditions. The boat is configured for high wind, using a 7.5 m storm mainsail on the 8.5 m mast. The reduced sail area limits aerodynamic load while maintaining balance and foil efficiency as wind strength and surface disturbance increase.
