Throwback Thursday: Back in 2015 we competed at the Formula 18 World Championship in Kiel. Looking at this old footage there's so much I want to say to my older me. So much I know now what would have been very helpful back then. The thing is, back then I thought we where decent sailors and a few month ago on the foiling Nacra 17 I thought we are very bad sailors. Sometimes it is necessary to travel back in time to see how much has changed and how much you have learned. Anyway, here are a few tipps to my older me: 1. You need more speed! Let the boat run. First speed and then slowly start to point up. You will sail the same angles but much faster. 2. Improve your standing position. 3. After a wake up call of what it's like to sail in these Cape Verdean waters by breaking something, we sail into a favorite bay of ours to make repairs. Our man Peixe begins by fishing for dinner. Then cooking a fried fish dinner under an orange sky. And in the morning he's up on the mast fixing the broken pulley bracket. Later the dinghy goes flipping upside down during a powerful gust. I have lots of repairs going back in Mindelo but take time to go way up on the hills to a party in a house made of flattened oil barrels and a fish BBQ on a classic Scandinavia vessel. This video is about when Anders, Erik and I sailed with Fridá af Wisby to Visby and we show and tell you a little of the old city and the botanic garden. The sailing in our home water the Baltic Sea is part of our preparation to sail to the Mediterranean Sea. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Kayak has been a common interest for Gitte, Erik and Anna since 2013 and Anna also compete at national level. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea.

After 4 days of being off shore, we finally had arrived into St. Vincent. Due to the rules and regulations to get cleared into St. Vincent and the Grenadines we have to take a covid test and then wait in quarantine until the test results come back negative. Once we have the results we are free to move about anywhere in the SVGs. This weekend just happens to be a holiday, which means PARTY TIME! We are not allowed to move from the mooring field until we are cleared, so we have to sit and can’t really escape to a quieter spot. We finally get cleared in and moved over to Blue Lagoon, to a much quieter anchorage. We take advantage of being in St. Vincent and ride up to one of the most magnificent gardens we have ever been to and NEVER expected to find in the Caribbean. The Montreal Gardens is a seven and a half acre garden created by Timothy Vaughan. It is MAGICAL place nestled high up in the Mesopotamia region of St. Vincent. We were in complete awe of Timothy's masterpiece. The next day we move to Bequia, the island of the clouds. We take the opportunity to test out the newly mended autopilot. Lightning storms are one of a sailors worst fears. On a night sail from Italy to Croatia we get caught in the middle of a monster storm. For forty minutes we were stuck in the eye of the storm with lightning strikes all around. The timing was bad. We were approaching land, and the raging storm to the South and West of us meant we had no choice but to navigate a narrow channel with close to zero visibility. Limping into Dubrovnik we managed to check in, sailing on to enjoy the stunning Croatian coast. During his time away from work, Jamie lived on board and cruised South East Asia. One of his life dreams is to sail around the world. His plans came together at the end of 2018 when he met a Filipina lounge singer in China. Princess was yearning for a vacation since she had been working many years to support her family. Finally, her siblings got their own jobs and she decided to join Jamie on Jupiter² and go sailing. It was a wild decision for her because she had never sailed before. For the first time, they sail for two weeks around Phuket, Thailand. She began to see what Jamie love about the sea. They both resigned from their jobs in early 2019 and began cruising full time.
