Since Wendy left, I decide to head to Dakar Senegal for boat maintenance. And it was a good decision, but one that required some Mc Gyver ingenuity to patch things up on the engine which had sprung a leak in the cooling system. No engine is not a problem with a sailboat, unless ther is little wind. To get around that problem, I hoisted my huge spinnaker sail. Fantastic until we got hit by a squall. His catamaran anchored next to mine shortly after I anchored in the beautiful bay on Boa Vista Island, Cabo Verde. I was happy he was there so I sent him a message. He will never see it. The next day local friends who had brought the boat there informed me that Bruno had disappeared since a week. This is not AI. It is the harsh reality of living aboard a sailboat. Is it OK to sail and drink? On my boat it is. We set sail for the island of Sal 130nm miles away in fantastic sailing conditions with a crew of three on a Jeanneau SunFizz 40. A Frenchman and sailing teacher, beautiful Wendy and myself, captain of the sailboat. Once the sails were adjusted and the boat straight on course, we celebrated being just the three of us on the ocean.
