I spent much time and a few hundred dollars to find out my design is now Copy Writed in Admiral BS's book.... MMMM this fact pisses me off, due to the fact that I spent money creating a design that Admiral BS steals, copy-writes and puts in his book.... I gave this information to the Amel Owners for FREE! This is a video for Super Maramu and Amel 54 owners that have purchased the new Silicone Seals for the Bow Thruster. Please leave your questions below. I will not be loading this information on The Amel Forum because the owner of the Forum deleted my access. You can do screen shots off this video to obtain instructions. My Thoughts..... They are too expensive, unless you have a problem with water intrusion. Instructions: First, Put the Lip Seal into place with Silicone Sealant on the bottom and around the sides. You might use silicone adhesive on the Lip Seal especially if you’re not going to machine a BT CAP from styrene or teflon. 2nd…. Put the Wiper Seal into place with a little Silicone Sealant. NOW if you are not going have a BT Cap machined, you will probably need to use a lot of Silicone Adhesive, which will end up looking something like THIS… Place your newly machined BT Cap on the top, drill 4 holes holes and screw it into place. Wala. When you push the Bow Thruster shaft through the seals, you should use the IN-Water Amel Bow Thruster removal tool. Put some moly cote (or a non-petroleum based lubricant) on the wood tool and fiberglass shaft and push it up through the hole. I have not completed the installation of the bow thruster seals on Aquarius because Aquarius is in Thailand, and I am in Lithuania. The bow thruster cap should hold the seals in place. I may have to adjust the stop on the lower end of the bow thruster movement a few mm, but I don’t think so…. Here is the design of the bow thruster cap, you will have to adjust this design for your boat, place the both of the seals into the hole like this. Measure the height, and change this measurement accordingly. You might find that THIS design will work for the SM’s and THIS design will work for the Amel 54. This is one that I had machined in Thailand before I received the seals. As you can see the depth of the groove for the seals is not deep enough, this one was about 2.5 mm, and will get another one made after I do the measurements on board Aquarius. I believe the groove depth should be between 5.85 and 6mm deep. And the material I will use is Styrene. Would you buy these again? Probably not, 1) I believe these seals too are expensive unless you already have problems with water intrusion through the Bow Thruster Seals. At a cost of $75 per set, plus shipping, plus taxes etc.… that is a lot of money to fix a problem I don’t currently have 2) the original seals are $5-10 and again they have never leaked. and finally 3) Machining of the BT Cap will add an additional $40. One more note, I personally spoke to two two Super Maramu Owners that installed these seals, both installed the seals only to have them fail. They simply ripped out because the Wiper seal was only held in place by the Silicon Adhesive, and has no connection with the hole. But, if you use a cap, these seals should give me excellent protection against water intrusion, and they should last at least 4 or more years. How to care for your Bow Thruster seals. First, (and this has nothing to do with the seals) always put plenty of Grease or Corrosion X where the motor connects with the shaft. This is a must. I have heard of too many Amel Owners with a shaft that rusted together with the motor. Some Super Maramu owners have taken several days to get them apart, and one that was discussing cutting the shaft to remove it. Don’t be one of these owners!! Lube this connection with Corrosion X and or Lithium grease every year or so. Now, let us look at the material of these seals. They are a silicone, and I found another vender in Australia that shows, what I think to be the identical material used to manufacture these silicone seals. According to this documentation the silicone material does not like Petroleum based Oils and/or Grease. After each use, take a paper towel and wipe down the shaft, then use some Moly Coat on Bow Thruster Shaft. And, I would like to thank to Steve on Aloha for this suggestion! This should keep the shaft clean and smooth and thus should ensure your EXPENSIVE Bow Thruster Seals will last a VERY VERY long time! Thanks so much for watching 🙏 Stay tuned as next Friday 12PM EST we release a new video 🎥

After years of adventures aboard Aquarius, our journey takes a bittersweet turn. We leave Georgetown, pushing straight for Chesapeake Bay — 380 nautical miles in just over two days. Along the way, we battle two storms, dodge lightning, and even alter course for a distress signal… only to find out it’s a military exercise. Sailing the U.S. East Coast has proven more challenging than we imagined — fewer anchorages, tricky tides, and storms almost every day. But reaching Chesapeake Bay feels like crossing a final milestone. This could be our last overnight sail on Aquarius before hauling her out in Deltaville. It’s not just the end of a passage… it’s the end of an era. 💙 ⛵ Join us as we share the raw reality, shifting plans, and reflections on a life lived at sea. We made a bold decision to skip the typical coastal stops and sail straight to the Chesapeake Bay—two overnight passages, hundreds of miles, and one unforgettable storm later... things didn’t exactly go as planned. 🌩️ In this episode, we leave Georgetown, South Carolina, aiming for better anchorages and sailing conditions. But Mother Nature had other plans—within seconds, the wind jumps from 19 to 45 knots, catching us off guard with full sails up. From managing muddy chains to dodging wrecks and navigating rivers with currents, we share our unfiltered experience of what it’s really like sailing the US East Coast with a 6.5 ft draft. We also run into old cruising friends, spot mysterious flares at sea, and discuss why we upgraded our Starlink plan on the go (spoiler: safety first). If you’ve ever wondered what a storm surge really feels like offshore—this is the one to watch. 📍Route: Georgetown → Cape Hatteras → Chesapeake Bay 🌀 Conditions: Thunderstorms, river currents, tight anchorages 💬 Featuring: Real-time decisions, gear management, and lessons from the frontlines of bluewater cruising 👍 Like | 💬 Comment | 🔔 Subscribe to follow our journey around the world. #SailingAquarius #OffshoreSailing #ChesapeakeBay #SailingUSA #SailingLife #SailingStorm #SailingAdventure #AmelSuperMaramu #BluewaterSailing #SailingCouple #SailingYouTube #StarlinkAtSea #CruisingLife #LiveaboardLife And thanks so much for watching 🙏 Stay tuned as next Friday & Tuesday 1PM EST we release a new video 🎥 We do our best to keep you entertained and informed and if you find it fun, enjoyable or informative, consider becoming part of our team and ➡️ join us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/svaquarius ➡️ want to support us, but not sure about long term commitment? After 8 years of sailing around the world, we made landfall in the U.S. and headed to Charleston, South Carolina—with excitement and concern. Cruising Charleston wasn’t easy: $1000 for a 4-day marina stay, sketchy anchorages, and a long dinghy ride through fast boat traffic. Still, with a good friend visiting, we set out to explore this iconic Southern city. We joined a carriage tour through historic downtown, wandered Rainbow Row, and took a nature-filled day at Magnolia plantation with its Lego safari, riverboat ride, and even a charming train. We moved anchorages for better shelter and ended up next to the USS Yorktown under the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge—a whole new view of Charleston. As we count down our last days aboard Aquarius, the emotions run high. This might be goodbye to the boat… but not to the adventure. ⛵ If you're outfitting your boat or need help getting started, reach out—we’ve been there. Previously on Sailing Aquarius… After snorkeling at the eerie and iconic Pablo Escobar plane wreck, we faced strong currents and a sleepless night at anchor. That pushed us to prepare for one of our most nerve-wracking challenges yet: navigating the super shallow passage to Nassau. With hurricane season approaching, we had to move quickly. But thanks to advice from fellow cruisers and seeing a 190-footer breeze through the same waters, we found the confidence to go for it — and we made it! In this episode, we: ⚓️ Take on the shallow passage to Nassau 🏝️ Explore the flashy Vegas-like vibes of Atlantis 🌬️ Fly our ballooner sails for the first time on our new to Aquarius masts 🚤 Dock at Grand Bahama Yacht Club — with a tight entrance, strong currents & solar panel obstacles! Our Bahamas journey has been unforgettable — from iguana beaches to coconut bars — but now it’s time to sail on toward the U.S. mainland. As we slowly cruising in the Bahamas currently in Exuma, we exploring and enjoying every single day. Yet sailing is a bit challenging, especially for our male super Mario with a draft of 2.1 m or 6.5 feet as many places are so shallow, and these strong currents and narrow passages are not adding confidence either. But yet we love every single day and every single island visited: Black Cay, Pig beach, Exumas, Bahamas Iguana Beach, Leaf Cay, Bahamas and Black Point on Great Guana Cay in the Exuma Cays - and that's where Captain Ken shows proper way to board Aquarius! :) Join us! As we leave Turks and Caicos, we sail to the Bahamas—first to Crooked Island, then to Long Island and the beautiful Calabash Bay in between. We check out George town and discover our favorite spot: the Coconut Club, where we end up staying for a full five days. We also explore the nearby Chat 'n' Chill, and while we're having a great time, there's one not-so-fun task we have to face—removing stitches from Zivile's recent oral surgery. We had an empty beach all to ourselves… until two cruise ships arrived the next day and the place filled to the brim. Next - our most beautiful but also one of the most stressful sailing / motoring in extrmely shallow waters towards the Providenciales. What a sail!
