It can feel lonely, left out & down right depressing just going through our daily routines & catching any spare time the kids would have for us. Well, we decided to do something about that, we set off on a journey around Australia in our RV until karma had other plans. Our lives took a different direction after this, which allowed us to grab a lifetime dream that we didn’t think was ever possible but in reality, it was. Please join two boomers as we embark on our new chapter & how we manage life & family from our MacIntosh 47’ sailboat heading home to Australia.

The folding bikes prove themselves once again as we explore Campbeltown harbour by bike and enjoy the crystal clear waters at Davaar island. Enticed by a shop in the the town we buy some local produce to sample at our leisure on board, and plan our next journey to Tarbet marina. A storm blows through and we set off to Carradale Bay to anchor overnight. The scenery is exceptional, the wildlife fascinating and the weather very changeable. #liveaboardlife #anchorage #scotland Happy Life by FREDJI https://soundcloud.com/fredjimusic https://www.facebook.com/fredjimusic/ Music promoted by Audio Library https://youtu.be/u4PI5p5bI9k

It’s a challenging time for everyone these days and what better way to shake off the daily stresses than to hit the ocean and set sail. I was lucky enough have the opportunity to help new owner Paris on her maiden coastal voyage aboard this fun little Contessa 26. Who needs a big yacht when everything is so much simpler and more manageable on a small, well constructed yacht - like a Contessa 26, made famous many years ago by fellow female solo circumnavigator Tania Aebi. Crazy Love is quite a well known Contessa 26 and she’s off again to discover new horizons after recently crossing the Pacific. She left Mexico with two crew aboard and covered several thousand miles before changing hands in Fiji to Connor - a solo sailor who took part in the Go Easy Rally, arriving in Ozzie waters in Nov 2019. In the early 'Covid days' I assisted Connor by acting as Broker to sell Crazy Love. I introduced Paris to the boat when virtual tours and inspections were kind of ‘vogue’. Despite the distance between boat and buyer, nothing was stopping her from buying the yacht sight unseen. Her drive and determination to take on the challenge intrigued me and inspired me. This was definitely her perfect yacht although she’d never even step foot aboard! I couldn’t wait to sail Crazy Love out Sydney heads for some grass roots sailing, tiller in hand and with a fresh breeze to put us through our paces! It didn’t take long to awaken the senses. With a sweet tender helm, she exposed her agility driving effortlessly upwind slicing through the gentle swell like a hot knife through butter. If I were to compare her to a race horse I’d say, she’s as flighty as a filly, well mannered although never a bore, with a real spring in her step.. and she goes the distance. I can’t wait to read / watch the next chapter of this awesome little yachts’ life with Paris, who is clocking up the coastal miles as she heads north with Crazy Love. If you like this video and want more let us know in the comments below. Sailing is our passion. Safe and fun - no egos, no competition or comparisons on boat size or gagetry. In this small park, literally dozens of 150-200 year old shipwrecks lie at the bottom of the lake. In some cases, they are almost stacked on top of each other, a testament to the storms of November that were immortalized by Gordon Lightfoot as he sang about the Edmund Fitzergerald. But this wreck, the Sweepstakes, has been visited by more people than perhaps any other Great Lakes Shipwreck. It lies in only 20 feet of water in Big Tub Harbor. Today, people snorkel over the ship and visit by glass-bottom boat. The structure has been shored up with steel rebar to keep the vessel intact. The ice in winter damages her hull each year. Scuba divers can no longer penetrate her hull, but when I was a young diver, we used the site for wreck diving classes, teaching young initiates how to run reels and carefully go inside an overhead environment. I recall an advanced wreck class that I took one winter. The ice had not firmed up, so we did a night dive on the shallow wreck. That would give us almost unlimited time to practice skills. In the pitch blackness of a moonless night, we ran spools of guideline into the vessel and then groped our way out by feel in the blackness. On one particular penetration of the ship, I rested for a moment, hovering just off the bottom. As I continued to swim forward, I was stuck. I could not move forward or back. What could be the issue? While my heart began to race, I thought things through. When I had stopped for a moment and dropped slightly, somehow, I manage to skewer a D-Ring on me harness right over a long rusty nail, sticking up six inches from the large wooden beams. If I had been trying to toss the ring over the spike in a game, I would never have been successful, but here, underwater inside a ship, I had managed to hit the bullseye. Once I realized what had happen, I was able to carefully rise up and detach myself from the wreck. It was a good lesson learned. This shot was taken a few years ago when I reunited with some old friends. Stu Seldon and his wife Kelly Rizzo went out to the shallow wreck on a summer Sunday afternoon. We’re all eager technical divers, but we wanted to take a few minutes to enjoy an old classic wreck. The wreck was a Canadian schooner built in Burlington, Ontario, in 1867. It was damaged off Cove Island, then towed to Big Tub Harbour in Georgian Bay where it sank in September 1885. We are just pulling into Puerto Rico after two days of sailing. I have gone through the comments from the previous video to try to answer a few more questions! My service is still in and out so I may have missed a few but I will do my best to cover those in the upcoming videos.... I just wanted to get this video recorded and start posting as we were getting close to land because it will be hecticly busy once we are doing check-in’s and starting to physically collect items to do the salvage. i’m so excited about this new adventure and will be very busy in the next few days doing the final organizations to make this happen but I will put up another update with information and video about the boat to be salvaged once we are on the scene. Thank you so very much to everyone who has made contributions to help make this happen and to those of you who had questions about where to find the link to donate you can go to paypal.me/SVAnotherAdventure
ZEPHYR, Little Harbor 53 S/Y Check out the beautiful ZEPHYR, Little Harbor 53, as she sails Narragansett Bay in Newport, RI. Tour above and belowdecks with a narrated walkthrough to learn more about this exceptional shoal-draft Hood design built to high standards: Unique cockpit layout, providing easy, unmatched side access, and all sail functions at helm. One of only three built with centerline queen berths forward and aft. Newer engine, generator and sails, with many other recent upgrades. Owner motivated to move up to larger yacht.
Welcome aboard. Today we encounter very different weather: moderate rain during approach and landing at Nuremberg airport, but later in Palma we experienced one of the most stunning approaches ever. Check it out!
What a night...join me on this breathtaking flight from Palma to Leipzig and back. First sector was still quite relaxed. We refueled the aircraft to cover both sectors. It turned out to be a good idea. Get ready when we encounter thunderstorms all around Mallorca and our approach and to be postponed...
The city center of historic merchant city Leeuwarden is full of historic sailboats. We encounter Dutch Barges, Skûtsjes, Aaken, Schouwen, and many more interesting and beautiful historic sailing ships. I'll also show you a little of Leeuwarden, which is a beautiful city in its own right. It's a Hanzestad, a merchant harbor from before Hollands golden age. Leeuwarden is the capital of Friesland, the Netherlands. Friesland is considered the sailing province of the Netherlands (and perhaps the world).
Earlier this year in Episode 3 we went to see Spirit Yachts on the east coast of the UK. While we were there we took a look at the stunning Spirit 111 as she slipped into the water and said we’d report back once she was sailing. Well, now she’s up and running and I was lucky enough to be invited aboard to have her all to myself for the day…Oh yes! So, what is this remarkable, innovative and striking eco-friendly superyacht like and why is comparing her to a classic J Class from the 1930s is so relevant? Watch here to find out.
A short history of my engine work. BMC 1500.
As time winds down to departure for the 2019 ARC, boat crews frantically try to finish last minute projects. The ARC opening ceremonies, complete with parade and huge party, drive home the fact that time is running out. Luckily for us, our early arrival meant that a lot of the big tasks, such as installing our new watermaker, are already complete. But not everything is done. We still have to install new sink faucets and clear a clogged blackwater hose (yuck). There is also still the mast-mounted spinnaker pole that we have to prepare for use. This is something that requires extra lines and blocks, and it’s new for us. We also opt to replace our wire-rope/cable topping lift with a new version made of ultra-strong Dynema. Our new crewmember Luis Oliviera constructs two fantastic “soft shackles” made of 5mm Dynema, while almost simultaneously we have a failure that almost costs us one of our halyards. As if this isn’t enough, looking forward we see that an oil and filter change for our Suzuki 20hp 4-stroke outboard is due. No time like the present, especially when you have free slave-labor. Wendy and I attend ARC seminars on weather, provisioning, and rigging, but the big event is the Rol Nautic (marine supplies) party. It’s a huge event, with crews dressed up in costume and live music. Wow, what an experience! sailing videos; sailing, cruising, monohull, oyster, oyster yachts, tiny house, van life, dyneema, sailing blog, sailing vblog, sailing vlog, rolnautic
As we approach the biggest challenge of our sailing adventure so far (Portland Bill) we have more boat repairs to get through to make sure that we're as ready as we can be to face this beast. We get help from two really awesome people who we met through Instagram originally (once again the powers of social media working their magic). We can't thank them enough, but will try again, so Mark & Pippa, thank you for being awesome! We're going to need the tide, weather, sails and engine, everything on our side to ensure we have a smooth transit around Portland Bill and on to Devon, to continue our exploration of the Great British West Country. Vlog#19 We had to move from Mission Bay to wait a couple more days in San Diego for our packages to arrive. We had ordered a bunch of fishing gear off the internet. We couldn't wait to catch tuna!! Checking out of America was the craziest nonsense ever, you can't stay at the police/customs dock...but they also don't come down to your boat. You have to go downtown to check out. So we didn't really have a choice except to leave it there anyway and risk getting a ticket. At this point we were so annoyed and didn't care anymore, we were so ready to leave. We had to uuber downtown since there wasn't even a bus near where we were. We wouldve had to walk like 40 minutes just to get to a bus. We finally got to customs and handed our paper and got the hell out of there. Great Sailing, tons of dolphins, and a little bit of beach play time. On this episode of WE|Sail, we enjoy some well deserved beach time on a remote secluded island off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. We have solid winds for a great 2 day sail towards the northernmost bay in Costa Rica. Along the way, we are joined in company with so many dolphins which make us feel like we are no longer alone. We find ways of entertaining each other by regularly scaring each other while out sailing and keep our spirits high. All we need is wind, dolphins and the air horn. We start to make our way north of Costa Rica in hopes to possibly clear out of the country in hopes to go to Mexico before hurricane season. Thanks for watching the adventures of WE! This episode we race through the Whitsunday Islands group making our way north.
