Bonita takes you through an oil change, whilst yosh tries to get dinner. "Yosh, what are you doing mate?" How quickly the weather can change in this part of the world. One day the sun is shining bright and not a breath of wind, the next is stormy and blowing 30 to 40 knots!! Of course we decide to get under way when the weather is bad and spend the day drenched from constant side ways rain as we sail down the coast to a new protected anchorage for shelter. We are freshly home from Vietnam, and we are stoked to get back to working on our own boat. There's a lot coming up for me (in the next few episodes) of what I learned at Max Cruise for fairing...but first, we backtrack a little. Going back a few months to this spring, Matt had made gutters for our transom hatches (so no water leaks into them when the door is closed) and we get them attached and prep the area for gelcoat. Then it's time for new neighbors in the work yard, and it happens to be another YouTube couple - James and Natalie of Sailing Zeypher! Just after their arrival we all take a break from work to celebrate the 4th of July in lovely Bay Ridge, just outside of Annapolis. A picture perfect slice of Americana, we made it a full day with parades, egg toss, and fireworks. Back at the build I begin to prep a few of the bulkheads in our forward berth for fairing - but due to the extreme heat, we have to call it quits at lunch time. While sailing in The Bahamas we spotted something bright orange in the water, we checked it out with the binoculars and it seemed to be an orange lifebuoy. We furled in our gib and headed over to the buoy to see if anyone was in danger. We couldn’t spot anyone in the surroundings so we decided to pick up the buoy out of the water, this was be a good man over board exercise for us. We wished we could stay longer in Eleuthera, but we had to get South to the Exumas to pick up Brown's daughter from the airport. This is our FIRST family member to visit us. So, we staged at Tarpum Bay in southern Eleuthera and picked up the anchor at day break. We were off. It was a super sporty sail across the Exuma Sound and we tried to point as far South as possible, but the wind did not cooperate. We ended up at Cistern Cay, a beautiful island that forms the southern end of the cut with its namesake. The island is a private island and owned by some VERY rich, powerful, and cranky people. A challenging day of weather had the race committee on its toes. The Persico 69F fleet had a great day however, squeezing in 6 races while the VX One fleet ripped off three. Everyone else got in at least one race before a line of thunderstorms set everyone to port. We check in with the smallest two fleets in Race Week. After months of work and dealing with other issues BOOMERANG IV is finally ready to head north from Green Bay up the Bay of Green Bay to Wave Pointe Marina at Little Sturgeon Bay in Door County, Wisconsin for the summer. This is our annual family trek north for the summer. And once again, we ended up motoring due to the very fluky winds. One minute they were blowing at 8 - 10 knots then gone. It was a good first excursion with a new boat. No issues. Everything worked as it was supposed to. There are still a number of items that need attention, like the fuel gage that isn't working and some of the instruments. But that will all be sorted out later. Thanks for watching. We finally feel like we are getting the hang of dealing with some of the nuances of living at anchor in the Bahamas. Normans Cay, an island once used for drug smuggling, is now our backyard. Checking into Costa Rica on a good day is a challenge..known for its arduous, bureaucratic check in process and an in person boat inspection for pork of all things, not to mention pricey with fees totaling over $500. However for us the bureaucracy was the least of our concern when experienced an engine issue just as we were trying to clear in. The authorities were telling us we had to move but we couldn't resulting in a mad scramble to try and get the engine repaired in time to clear in before a long holiday! After getting our engine issues sorted it was time to explore this beautiful country. A visit to Costa Rica was well worth the hassle! After their SCUBA Dive, Lisa and Matt sail south towards Key West, they are approached by pod of wild Dolphins. The dolphin play and entertain the crew, until they all leave, except for one curious female dolphin. Sophie stayed with the boat for over five minutes, constantly engaging with the crew, splashing the camera, rolling on her side to be able to look up at Lisa, and make eye contact! Binnen durch den Kontinent - Rhein - Rhonekanal Teil 5 Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. Bereits 2018 starteten wir Richtung Wien, doch ein Motorschaden in der Straße von Messina zwang uns, den Überstellungstörn abzubrechen. It's easy to blow your budget on any boat project much less an entire sailboat refit. So we try and save a few bucks and salvage a set of winches from a neglected sailboat. We made a stop at @HarborShoppers in St. Thomas in USVI to see if they had any winches that would work with Wicked before creating a template for a missing floor board.

All my friends will tell you, one of my favourite gadgets, and first thing to be packed when I go away anywhere, is my portable Nespresso machine. Called a "Nanopresso", it lets me make decent espresso coffee anywhere I can get hold of hot water. Segeln Ostsee. Geschafft, die öde Winterzeit ist endlich zu Ende. Aufgrund Corona starten wir allerdings erst spät in die Saison 2021. Im Juni ist es soweit wir nehmen Kurs auf Travemünde. Was für ein Verkehr vor Travemünde. Da muss man ordentlich aufpassen. Aber alles geht gut und wir suchen einen schönen Liegeplatz. Wir entscheiden uns, für die Marina Baltica und unternehmen von dort tolle Ausflüge.. Viel Spaß beim Schauen!
