Après un break de quelques semaines, nous naviguons vers Las Palmas de Gran Canaria pour préparer notre voilier pour la traversée de l'Atlantique. Entretenir et préparer son bateau pour une transat n'est pas une mince affaire. Avec l'aide de nos nouveaux équipiers, nous faisons le contrôle du safran, un peu de travaux de stratification amateur, la révision du guindeau, le carénage. Et comme un travail en cache toujours un autre, le temps passé sur la zone technique s'allonge... Sans compter la réparation du frigo après que Lynne ait percé l'évaporateur... Mais après toutes ces révisions nous avons l'esprit plus serein avant notre départ malgré le rappel à nos esprits que ce type de navigation hauturière présente des dangers. Finished all the bottom work on the Gulfstar Sailboat, time to launch it from Hurricane Boatyard... Did a POV (point of view camera) launching, sailing. a little fishing... then run into large waves on the way back to our Dock in Oriental, NC. We are racing at more than 8 KNOTS! SV CUBA has made it to Turkey but we are not stopping now as our sailing adventure takes us around the many beautiful peninsulas. We are trying to find an anchorage before it gets dark and tuck into a small bay close to Bodrum. We were lucky, our anchor chain did not roll right over the vase. Oh dear, now let’s just pull up the anchor and get out of here before we get into trouble. As we rush to find a new place to anchor, we almost run aground in a long inlet on the Datca peninsula so we decide to move on. In the evening we arrive in Selimiye but a small motorboat drifts closer and closer to us and we are once again forced to pull up the hook. This time, however, all our instruments in the cockpit are dead. Luckily Enrique knows how to turn into Mac Gyver and manages to find out what the fault is. To get our instruments to work in the meantime he fabricates a fuse out of a piece of cable and we can once again sail away! We are Enrique (Kiki) from Cuba and Sarah (Salsa) from Germany, a sailing couple. We are living on a boat, our tiny house, creating a travel vlog as we sail around the world. We have almost zero sailing experience, but are determined to circumnavigate & share our adventures with you. Crossing the Schengen zone by sailboat! Continuing to sail across the Mediterranean Sea in winter from Gibraltar to Montenegro we are suddenly blinded by an unidentified boat with flashing lights and boarded by men carrying guns! These men turn out to be Spanish customs checking that we aren’t smuggling people or drugs into the country. Despite our initial shock we find them professional and, after a quick search of the boat, they disappear again into the night. As we have no wind to continue on and strong winds against us are forecast we take shelter in an inland lagoon called the Mar Menor. Whilst there Iain takes an unexpected swim off of the boat and we continue with boat jobs. Hello! In this video, we're in Cape Verde in Mindelo and are taking a ferry across to the island of Santo Antão which is very close but you can't really go with the boat as there's nowhere to anchor. We have family visiting, so we stay there for a few days and go and explore this island that is a real hidden gem! We do lots of hikes (if you would like more info on any of the hikes/places let us know in the comments), and are surrounded by greenery, fruit trees and sugarcanes! It's time to start making our hull to deck joint and cap rail pretty again. What that means is that we have to get it shaped right in order to paint it. Unfortunately, the process of getting a 90ft hunk of fiberglass shaped right means a considerable amount of sanding followed by a considerable amount of fairing... and then more sanding... and more fairing. What makes this process VERY challenging is that it all takes place outdoors, directly in the Florida sunshine. It's hot work. REALLY hot work. Another opportunity to charter a Seawind 1260 arose, and Toni and I jumped at the chance. This Seawind 1260 was a new 2022 model, Imi Ola, recently displayed at the Spring 2022 Annapolis Sailboat Show. Imi Ola had similar options that Toni and I have discussed, including the 32” TV, Fusion sound system, CZone, underwater lights, radar, solar package, forward sonar, and washer. Monica’s sixth sense kicked in and she timed her visit from Florida just in time to accompany us. We chartered Imi Ola for 5 days. Imi Ola can be charted through Sail-Away Catamarans at https://sailawaycatamarans.com/ Update: The issue with the autohelm was traced back to the CZone and low house battery. This caused the CZone to automatically go into load shedding mode which would shutoff the autohelm. Once the batteries came up to full charge, there was a setting in CZone that had to be reset. I do not know what this setting was but will need to learn it. I always like it when apparently complex problems have simple solutions.

We leave Great Keppel Island in the early morning darkness with the plan of sailing south to Pancake Creek but when we get there the anchorage is very full of boats. So we decide to keep going into the night clocking up 131 nautical miles to reach Burnett Heads. Along the way we explain what we do to stay safe sailing at night. Scuba Adventure Raja Ampat To Lembeh An epic 12 day scuba adventure on a luxury liveaboard. Starting in Raja Ampat diving some of it's iconic sites to see schooling jackfish, Wobbegong and the elusive walking shark. Not to forget the few species of pigmy seahorses that can be found at Mioskon dive site. From Raja Ampat we moved on to Halmahera to see impressive coral cover walls and the famous large school of barracudas. After a few days exploring there, we moved on to Bangka Island to see even more beautiful soft coral reefs with an abundance of marine life. The canvas dodger we had inherited aboard Avocet had seen better days; the frame was not stout, the dark blue canvas had been sun bleached and abused over the years, and perhaps the worst trait of all was that the strataglass was as transparent as milk making any sort of attempt to see through it impossible. Although it served us well as a windbreak and had gotten us this far in our journey we knew it was time to upgrade. I make and fit a custom steel channel beam which will support the hinging engine box and companionway steps as well as make and fit the last diesel fuel tank bracket; I sort out the pathway that the engine controller cables will take and adjust the panels to accommodate these AND I get back to the Heads fit-out, getting A LOT of the good foundation work done there! Mistress is designed by one of the highly respected Dutch naval arcitects E.G. Van de Stadt, a Caribbean design, length 40ft/12m, beam 13ft/3.9m, draft 5ft/1.5m. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. During season 2 We sailded south to Dieppe Normandy France. After a winter in France in Season 3 we started to sail the Atlantic coast of Europe to Xufre in Spain where we lifted the boat over the summer while we where back in Gotland to work at our hostel we got there. Season 4 got a short sailing season where we only sailed to Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal where we hauled out once again this time to go throug a long list of boatwork and to build a solar arch to make the boat more self-suficient with electricity. After 6 months in Lagos we kicked-off season 5 with real bluewater sailing first to the northerly Atlantic island Porto Santo and Madeira and then further out to the Azores that lays in the middle of the Atlantic ocean before turning back towards the mainland and south coast of Portugal again.

I have been getting to know Monaco Yacht Club a lot better this year, and there is far more to it than meets the eye. Leaving Pirates and thunders behind for now. Piracy in Panama is nothing new and it's pretty naive to belive anything else. However this time my experience is the piracy have come down a bit from last time I was here but the corruption is worse than ever. Guess this is just how Panama is and always gonna be. I choose to share how terrible it is and giving you a good reason to use agent instead. Everyone try to hustle you in Panama, no matter what. However having agreed price from an agent at least you now how much you gonna be robbed for the total service. Being in a marina in Colon district is like being a sitting duck waiting to have your boat fried by lightning. So I just wanted to get out of there ASAP. Anyway, this is a song I recorded about 10 years ago during the time we were preparing our boat Naoma to sail from San Diego to Tahiti. Before the pandemic I played this song live at an open mic night in Mo'orea. The French people in the audience clapped and cheered.
