After spending a month in the Abacos it was time to go. We were hoping to sail but the weather and wind had other plans. After a day passage, we arrived at a beautiful anchorage in Eleuthera where we met a very friendly Manatees! Don’t forget to please HIT THE LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE AND TO ALSO COMMENT! Thanks for watching
In an unexpected turn of events, we have had to haul Ragdoll out of the water due to a leaky seacock we noticed as we were leaving Lochranza.. This week, we walk you through the replacement of the seacock with a new Trudesign one - enjoy! If you have any questions, leave us a comment below! :) Who are we? We are a family of three with three dogs, sailing the coasts of Scotland, exploring one island at a time – for now! There is no set route or plan. We will go where the wind and life take us. We have two golden retrievers and a bernese mountain dog – Hachi, Luna and Meems who sail with us. We sail on a 1995 Gib’Sea 472 who we are in the process of refitting, making our own and preparing for a big adventure. Connect with us! How to make a hole in a mast As those of you that follow our channel will know, we’re refitting an Open 60 race boat in Fiji, turning her into a family cruiser to take us around the world. She already has 2 forestays, but one of the changes we wanted to make whilst the mast was down was to add an additional third forestay for multiple reasons. Firstly to give us more easily a larger range of sail configurations, plus it adds extra supports for the mast. Our mast is nearly 30m long and made of carbon fibre and cost a previous owner around 1/4 millions Aussie dollars just over 10 years ago. So the task of making holes in it, for the attachments for these extra stays made us a bit nervous. We constantly cool the area with an air compressor, the carbon and the drill bit, to we reduce the risk of delimitation and damage. Carbon is a difficult material to drill, similar to stainless steel, with the added risk of delimitation. To not heat up the material we bought a drill especially for this job, one which has the ability to regulate the speed to work slowly and that has a lot of power to work under high loads ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you enjoyed this video please consider supporting us on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/SailingNV or with a one-off donation via https://ko-fi.com/sailingnv or paypal https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/sailingnv -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Caio! We are Timo and Jo, an Italian and English couple with countless ocean miles under our belts, including sailing half way around the world from Europe to Fiji! Last year we bought an Open 66 ft race sailing boat originally designed and built by the famous Hungarian sailor Nándor Fa, which he raced in the 1990 Around Alone & 1992 Vendée Globe (round the world single handed race known as “the Everest of the seas”), becoming the first non-frenchman to finish the race. We are currently in Fiji giving this old gladiator a new lease on life, transforming her from an ex race boat to a performance family cruiser, which we'll need to make both dog and baby proof! We’re planning to set sail again in Oct 2022, so with limited time&money we have plenty of challenges ahead to turn our dreams into reality&get back on the water! How we Grocery Shop on a Sailboat - Stocking the Pantry for Passages - Yacht Highway with Drawbridge
Long walks up mountains in 40 degree celsius with cold groceries, trying not to let stuff get hot. Elevator in the grocery store. Stocking up our fridge and pantries for long passages without grocery stores. We navigate through the VERY shallow yachting highway of Lefkada Greece, ending in a cool floating drawbridge. Lefkada is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea, connected to the mainland by a causeway. West coast beaches like Porto Katsiki and Egremni feature sheer cliffs and turquoise waters. The east coast is known for its traditional villages, including the seaside resort of Nydri. In the north, Lefkada town is the island's gateway and capital. Vassiliki, in the south, attracts windsurfers.

Episode 1 of my Dive Dry Road Trip! I’m in Washington, I have a drysuit & I went through drysuit training so let's talk about scuba diving specialties. 👌🏻Subscribe: https://bit.ly/2y7Se24 Not all scuba diving specialties are created equal. In this video, I break down the most useful down to the absolutely useless scuba diving specialties out there. This list is not specific to any organization, although I am most familiar with PADI. I recently did my drysuit training, but I didn’t do much research before signing up with an instructor I had never met. Hilarity ensued. Check out details and funny stories about my NAUI drysuit course in my latest video on Patreon. We went out on the Gulf Of Mexico with our friends their TakaCat. Us wanting to move on the ocean have wondered how the Catamaran dinghy performed vs a traditionally dinghy. We were really surprised how well the TakaCat performed at low tied, sometimes we ended up in a foot of water. we could still keep move when we tilled the outboard up. Check Out Deck's Water Adventures https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHlQIxs6tNvwKq33m2WHQLw This TakaCat was 13 foot with a 6 hp 4 cycle outboard that can plane with 2 people. We had 4 people with 2 coolers and could get up to 6 miles an hour but not plane. This was still a lot of fun as we cruised about .5 miles off shore, and then around the canals. My wife was kinda worried about getting out on this dinghy and thought it would not be that stable and getting wet, this wasn't a problem. After spending 5 hours on the water and trying to chase some dolphins down Danielle was in love. She said this would be a great dinghy for us once we get our boat. The great thing was the 5 hours used just over a gallon of gas, but we mostly idled. 📢 Our Website: https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/ 📢 See Our Recipes: https://www.dininginwithdanielle.com Tools In The Garage: 🛠 Milwaukee 18-Volt Drill and Impact Driver Kit https://amzn.to/366BwxM 🛠 Husky Mechanics Tool Set https://amzn.to/3kuGUzD 🛠 Angle Grinder https://amzn.to/36FaC09 🛠 Forney Easy Weld Welder https://amzn.to/3romDR1 🛠 Welding Helmet https://amzn.to/3wOq58z What We Us In The Kitchen: 🍽 KitchenAid https://amzn.to/3x0T8JY 🍽 Roasting Pans https://amzn.to/3jahTLq 🍽 Cooking Sheet https://amzn.to/3JcEa5O 🍽 Kitchen Utensils Set https://amzn.to/3Kg9xOg 🍽Cutting Boards https://amzn.to/3KhzdKw 🍽 Kitchen Knives https://amzn.to/36USV0d 🍽 Kitchen Oven Safe Pans https://amzn.to/3DGkfuY 💎 Have a Website? A small portion of the sales comes to me which in turn helps support these videos. This video is about designing through the process of model building. A swimming scow is my own concept, specifically intended for use on a small weedy lake. I’ve certainly expounded on the value of model making before and I’ll stress it again. In round bottom craft, a half model is usually the go to and I would say it will suffice in delivering a sense of shape and perhaps even dimensional information from which one can start lofting or even build moulds. In simple craft it’s not so difficult to go all in with the smaller details of construction. Let’s look at some of the benefits of that. Firstly it gives you a very representational model that can simply bring enhanced pleasure when studying its details. More importantly it gives you an opportunity to walk through the building process and consider how you might tackle orders of operation; assembly and clamping challenges. Even required tools. When commencing on this build I decided to produce scale versions of my building materials, including standard thicknesses, widths, lengths and anticipated quantities of materials. I often find I have underestimated something here or there and this is a fantastic way to work around that. You can even track your cut-offs to see if there are opportunities to reduce, reuse or eliminate waste. Scale is important here. The 1:12 scale I tried was too small for convenience. It just made it harder to build and so was more of a time waste than any sort of material savings. The 1:8 scale is about as small as you want to go for a constructed model like this and 1:4 might be even better. Of course there’s a point at which you might as well just build the real thing and bigger models can get cumbersome to keep around. Amanda and Geoff recap their dinner at McMenamians where Geoff tries their famous Terminator Stout. The two wander to get coffee at the Human Bean before heading to Depoe Bay for an excursion. They sightsee during their time at this beautiful seaside town. The couple visits the World's Smallest Navigable Harbor where they board Whale Tail Charter's vessel to try and see the infamous whales that roam these waters. After an eventful--and cold--whale watching experience, they make their way down to Newport, Oregon to try out the food and brews from Rogue Brewery. They even try their craft root beer before heading down to Foulweather Cape to take in some stellar views. From there, the couple continues driving south down the coast and stumble on a lookout point called the Devil's Churn. They discover a walking path that lets them get up and personal with the Devil himself. After climbing rocks and a little more hiking, the Mittens make their way to Three Rivers Casino to test their luck once again. After testing the fates, they head to Yachats to try out a highly recommended dinner spot called Luna Sea Fish House where they discover slumgullion for the first time. Amanda and Geoff struggle to find a place to go for the night. They eventually find a KOA in Waldport, Oregon to rest before their final day in Oregon. K-Challenge Team France was the dominant force for the first half of this GC32 World Championship, held in Lagos, Portugal, but for the second half it was Christian Zuerrer’s Black Star Sailing Team which overtook the French after today’s third of four races. This afternoon they were crowned the flying catamaran class’ fourth World Champions.
Pete Shuttleworth was the driving forces behind founding Rutland Civil Service Sailing Club and he gathered a group of interested sailors at Rutland Sailing Club to establish if there was interested in forming a keelboat sailing club - Tony Garrick was one of those interested and like Pete, is still sailing with RCSSC today. Recently we bade farewell to Graham Hudson, also a founding member - and we hope he and other founders will stay in touch with RCSSC and come for a sail some time. The others in the club have all contributed to RCSSC flourishing and growing and making sailing affordable and accessible. Though the CSSC we run tasters and enjoy them as much as our guests. Pete now lives back in Yorkshire and his decision to pop down for a couple of days and sail, coincides (almost - it was on 21 July 2022 at RSC) with the initial founding meeting. The Club got its boats in 2003 and was sailing soon afterwards and continues to do so. The Squib was chosen by the founders and has proved to be a good choice. It gives an exciting sail for those with experience and is kind for those who are just starting out. The Soling brings another dimension and is beautiful to sail.

This week, as the sun was out and we had a good forecast, we thought we would bring you on board and show you what kind of dinghy we are sailing now. Unfortunately for reasons that will become obvious when you watch the film the race itself didn't go to plan. So while you watch Ian sailing we will also tell you the story of why we bought one, and why it was even designed in the first place! We make these films just for fun, and we hope that you have enjoyed watching them however we have been asked on a couple of occasions now if we have a Patreon account. We don’t want to do that at this stage as we feel it would turn the channel into a business, and as we said at the beginning, this is all just for fun. However if you would like to support us and feel you could help contribute to the cost of making these films then you can do that via our PayPal account here. A big thank you to everyone that has already done this, its a great help. https://www.paypal.me/TheFoxwellFamily And a big thank you to everyone that has supported us so far, its very much appreciated. HUELE A VERANO, VELA, ¡MAR Y NAVEGAR! At first there was a dream.. a dream of travelling the world, a dream of how to imbue life with emotions, feelings, new impressions… … and how to share a bit of the real emotions with other people. Once, on a yacht ride, I was watching the smooth sea and suddenly had an insight! I saw the sun shine on the waves! These sparkles bear such a thrilling and exciting effect. That is it which promises the magic of a moment from dating with the sea. That is it which warms me up in winter, reminding me of summer while watching the snow glint on a frosty day. This insight was incredibly bright that it was as if I scooped it up with both hands, tightened each and every drop of seawater to my heart and … founded Brilions. The brilliance of the sea.. it makes every person happy, peaceful, imbues with harmony and love; the brilliance of the sea promises the special service and grants the unique experience you can find yourself in, favours you the ultimate feeling of the master of the universe; The brilliance of the sea relaxes you and leads to the best results and best solutions; The brilliance of the sea turns every holiday into the best event of your life. Brilions means a journey filled with the brilliance of emotions. We do think over every detail in order your journey will be embraced with comfort and care.

This is the very first time getting in to the open ocean, we got to try our sails, our auto pilot and our rigging for the first time, it felt amazing, we realized how much we love sailing without any engine on. It felt very relaxing after dealing with engine issues along the way. We've been sailing in the tropics since 2013 and reckon the most significant hazard to cruising is the weather. Tropical storms, squalls, and unpredictable winds make navigation challenging. The weather is divided north of the equator into three main periods: the northeast monsoon; the southwest monsoon; and the transitional periods, when winds are either erratic or non-existent. As we approached the equator, we discovered that navigating the unforgiving northern coastline of Sulawesi during the transitional period did not mean an easy journey... 🤙 Support us: PATREON | FTBMates | Rum Fund - https://followtheboat.com/pub/ 👌 Thank you for watching, please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE, it really helps us get noticed.
