The Most Generous Village in the South Pacific? 🍫 Sailing near the equator is a game of patience. With the wind completely dead, we motored our way to the northern tip of Vella Lavella Island to a place called Pas Pas Kato. Our arrival was a comedy of errors—paddling for miles in the blistering sun looking for a village, only to find ourselves deep in the mangroves. But what started as a failed supply run turned into one of the most heartwarming encounters of our trip. Before we could even ask, a local family began loading our kayak with fresh produce, proving once again that in the Solomons, hospitality is the only currency that matters. In this episode, we go beneath the surface to help our new friend Ken maintain his seaweed farm, an incredible and sustainable industry that is transforming remote island economies. We also explore a unique "Reception Island"—a spot where the ruins of an old cacao competition now serve as the only place locals can catch a phone signal. Ken also walks us through the entire Cacao process: from fermenting and drying the beans to roasting them over an open fire. We combine his hand-processed chocolate with our own freshly squeezed coconut cream for the best hot cacao we’ve ever tasted. To say thank you, we head out to the reef to spearfish for a massive community beach BBQ, ending the day with a feast of cassava, fish, and seaweed. There’s nothing quite like hearing about the Horizon Yacht experience directly from the people who live it. In this owner testimonial, George shares his experience with Horizon Yachts and what has made his journey of yacht ownership so memorable. From the quality and craftsmanship of the yacht itself to the relationships, support and personal service behind the scenes, it’s an insight into what being part of the Horizon family is all about. At Horizon, building a yacht is only the beginning. It’s about creating something that reflects each owner’s vision, supporting them throughout their ownership journey, and building relationships that continue long after delivery. For George, that experience goes beyond the yacht itself. It’s about the people you meet, the places you explore, the time spent on the water, and the memories created along the way. Hear George share his Horizon story and what keeps the experience so special. www.horizonyachtaus.com

What if you could retire early, spend less money, live on a sailboat, and wake up to a free sunset every night? That’s the dream we’re chasing. Instead of waiting until traditional retirement age, we’re exploring a different kind of retirement: living on a sailboat, traveling, saving money, living simply, and enjoying life now. In this episode, we’re out on the water enjoying the beauty of Annapolis, Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay, with sailing, fall weather, crabbing, blue crabs, sunsets, and the simple pleasures of living aboard a boat. Our goal is early retirement—not necessarily having millions of dollars, but figuring out how to reduce expenses, live off the grid, travel, and make our money stretch further. PLEASE SUBSCRIBE Could living on a sailboat actually be a realistic way to retire early? We're documenting the entire journey—from buying and fixing up our boat to learning how to live aboard, cruising the Chesapeake, and eventually heading south toward Florida and the Bahamas. As inflation, housing costs, gas prices, market uncertainty, and concerns about the economy continue to make traditional retirement more difficult, we're asking a different question: What if retirement didn't have to look like everyone else's? Could you trade a mortgage for a boat? Could you trade expensive vacations for a life of cruising? Could you spend less and actually enjoy more? This is our journey toward early retirement, financial freedom, sailboat living, cruising, travel, and an off-grid lifestyle. 🌴 Sailing Annapolis ⛵ Living on a sailboat 🌅 Free sunsets 🦀 Chesapeake Bay crabbing & blue crabs 💰 Saving money & early retirement 🏝️ Florida & Bahamas cruising ☀️ Off-grid living 🔋 Solar power & lithium batteries 🌊 Traveling by boat 🍂 Fall sailing And yes, we're watching the bigger world too—from the economy and recession concerns to BTC and Bitcoin, inflation, gas prices, and the upcoming midterm elections. But our answer to an uncertain future is pretty simple: Own less. Spend less. Travel more. Live now. Subscribe and follow along as we turn our sailboat into our home and head toward the Bahamas. #EarlyRetirement #SailboatLiving #LivingOnABoat #Sailing #FinancialFreedom #Annapolis #Bahamas #Florida #ChesapeakeBay #OffGridLiving #marinas

I vowed never to ride a moto-taxi again, but the people here in Africa changed my mind. Meet Mamgol, a 64-year-old mast climber built like a jockey who helps us tackle the wind meter issue. But just as we thought we could get some work done between storms, trouble arrived adrift. A massive storm made its presence known in the early morning during coffee. Nothing unusual during the rain season here, except this storm was very unusual. Terrifying winds blowing at over 70kts blasted though the bay like a hurricane. Usually the winds die down after a few minutes, this went on for nearly an hour. In the chaos a steel boat broke free and nearly hit us. Following behind was a big barge which was anchored 500 meters away. It had drifted dragging its anchor and was less than 10 meters away now. I faced a nightmare scenario on deck. I was expecting the worst and hoping for a small miracle. Watch how we navigated the danger and the sheer power of that storm. Life in The Matrix? Maybe. Life in the bay in Dakar, Senegal? For real. 00:00 Intro 00:26 Never say never 01:13 Pollution nightmare 02:31 Top helper 03:21 Into the rain season 04:07 Trusting the forecast? 05:25 Morning fury uncut 07:14 Barge is loose 07:55 Intense close call 08:49 We got lucky 09:15 Next week Some say it’s The Best Sailing Channel on YouTube! We sail into Ao Hat Yuan on Koh Phangan, one of the most beautiful bays I’ve ever visited. With no road access, the beach is only reachable by boat, and somehow we had the entire anchorage to ourselves. We spent the day swimming in crystal-clear water, riding the e-foil, relaxing in our floating pool, and paddleboarding to shore with the dogs for lunch. Then we finished the day with an incredible dinner at a cliffside restaurant overlooking the bay. This is exactly why we love cruising Thailand — finding places like this that feel completely removed from the rest of the world. A giant squall. Two rainbows. Breaking waves. 34 knots of wind. And one wave coming straight through the hatch while I’m sleeping. As the weather deteriorates, I’m changing headsails, switching to the storm jib and reefing the mainsail while Loveworkx is being thrown sideways by the waves. There isn't much sun, so I have to run the engine to keep the batteries charged. Then the front arrives and the wind increases to 34 knots. Through the night, Loveworkx keeps speeding towards Mauritius, with waves breaking against the side of the boat. And once again, I’m amazed by how well the Windpilot keeps steering the boat through it all. Read the full story: https://sailing.loveworkx.com/sailing-the-indian-ocean/ 💙 Love my videos?

Why do electrical installations in Spain sometimes look so different? And more importantly: why is this actually allowed? In this video, I take you inside the world of Spanish electrical installations and explain some of the things that may surprise you when you first see them. From conduit systems and individual conductors to two-pole circuit breakers, junction boxes, traditional terminal blocks, 25-amp outlets and Spain's contracted power limits – Spanish electrical installations have their own logic and regulations. Some installations may look chaotic at first glance, but there is usually a technical or historical reason behind the way things are done. I am a Master Electrician from Germany and an authorized electrician in Spain, and on this channel I share real-world information, experiences and explanations about electrical installations in Spain. ⚡ In this video: • Why conduit is used extensively in Spanish electrical installations • Individual conductors instead of pre-sheathed cable • Why two-pole circuit breakers are common • What you may find inside Spanish junction boxes • The 25-amp outlet used for electric cooking appliances • How contracted electrical power can limit your home's electricity supply • Why Spanish electrical installations can look unusual but still comply with regulations 🌐 More information about electrical installations in Spain Visit my website: 👉 https://electro-tenerife.com Here you can find more information about electrical installations, regulations and electrical services in Spain. 🛠 Tools and products I use or recommend Some of the links below are Amazon affiliate links. If you’ve been shopping for a catamaran, you’ve probably heard some pretty strong opinions about Bali, particularly the solid foredeck and that famous tilting door. Competitors will happily tell you why they think these features are a bad idea. But after actually owning, living aboard and sailing Bali catamarans, we have a very different perspective. So, let’s separate the myths from the facts. 0:00 Why the Bali Foredeck Is Controversial 1:19 What Happens When the Foredeck Floods 1:58 The Slamming and Pounding Myth 3:01 Bare Poles in a Mediterranean Storm 4:21 Everyone Copies Bali Now 5:59 Stiffness allows the Titling Bali Door 7:57 No Creaking at the Canet Sea Trial 9:01 The Derated Rig and the Speed Myth 10:52 Rudders and the New Performance Rig 12:47 The New Bali 7.0 After 25,000 miles on one, including an Atlantic crossing and a Mediterranean storm run, Stephen and Estelle answer the criticism from experience instead of from the dock. When the first Bali launched in 2015 with no trampolines, the industry called it a mistake. The predictions were specific: the bows would bury, the deck would pound, the weight forward would kill performance. In this episode Stephen walks through what actually happened when the entire foredeck filled with water at sea, why it drained in under twelve seconds, and why the angled underbody pushes the bows back up instead of driving them down. Then the part nobody predicted. Aquila, Fountaine Pajot, and Leopard have all moved toward solid or token-trampoline foredecks in the last few years. The feature that was ridiculed for a decade is now spreading across the market. The conversation also covers why Bali platforms are so stiff, the box-section matrix that makes the tilting salon door possible, why a Bali doesn't creak underway when their previous boat did, closed-cell foam core versus balsa, rudder placement aft of the saildrive and what it does for tracking, and the real reason behind the "Balis don't sail" reputation: a deliberately derated charter rig. With proper laminate sails and a spinnaker, they had their Bali 5.4 at 18 knots crossing the Atlantic. Performance rigs are now coming to the range. Finally, the new Bali 7.0 will be available to see at next year's Cannes in 2027. Designed to bring the feel of a private villa, grand hotel, and superyacht to the sea, the BALI 7.0 introduces a new way of living onboard. At the heart of this experience is BALI’s signature open concept, now taken even further with a full-length panoramic opening that connects the saloon directly to the forward lounge, creating one continuous, loft-style living space fully open to the sea. Dan from Sutton talks about the Tiwal 3R racing sailing dinghy. 00:00 Introduction 00:11 Which Tiwal model do you have? 00:18 Where do you sail? 00:36 Single-handed or double-handed? 01:39 How was the first handling with your tiwal? 02:28 What was your experience before Tiwal? 03:05 How is it going so far? 03:11 What characteristics surprised you? 04:29 What is your best memory with your Tiwal? 05:37 Where would you dream to sail with your Tiwal? -------------------------- Dan from Massachusetts has spent the last two years sailing a 3R racing model, often sharing the helm with his teenage daughter. While they typically navigate the ocean expanse between Cape Cod and Montauk, they initially practiced in freshwater to safely build her skills, as she had never sailed before. Their maiden voyage became an instant adventure when they capsized ten minutes in, but quickly righting the vessel only strengthened their confidence. Because they lack waterfront property, portability is essential; the boat fits in a trunk and goes from bag to water in under 30 minutes. Beyond the logistical convenience, they cherish exhilarating moments like skipping across high-speed waves and spotting inquisitive dolphins. Eventually, the dream is to travel south and enjoy the clearer, deeper waters of the Caribbean. -------------------------- Subscribe for more Tiwal sailing videos : https://www.youtube.com/c/tiwal?sub_confirmation=1 Learn more about Tiwal and check out our Best Videos : https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLp7rkGxzrxNpemhhNJ0kB8mHF9q0IZWBA -------------------------- ** The Tiwal 3R Sailboat ** The Tiwal 3R is a supercharged inflatable sailing dinghy. It offers amazing gliding sensations thanks to its responsiveness and lightness while remaining very accessible. Its design features the latest technologies used to create a rigid boat with optimal performance. The Tiwal 3R guarantees you loads of fun and plenty of oxygen! Boat of the Year Award | Best Dinghy | by Sailing World U.S.A. “The best part was reaching around in the big puffs, sitting at the back corner of the rack, with the boat just skimming. When I got my weight in the right spot, the boat just took off. It’s quicker than quick.” SAIL Top 10 Best Boats I by Sail Magazine U.S.A. “pound-for-pound this is the best conceived, sportiest, and most fun boat on the market.” -------------------------- ** The Tiwal story ** * The Birth of Tiwal * As a girl, the first time our founder Marion Excoffon was told, “No!” by her father when she asked to use the family boat, her life as an inventor began. After nine years of crewing on large vessels, he now revels in the simplicity of lake sailing, where he trades tides for wind-driven waves. The logistics are effortless: keeping the boat fully inflated in his garage, he simply slides it into his pickup truck and launches in just minutes. On the water, the experience is exhilarating; the boat feels like a rocket, surfing downwind with instant responsiveness. Bruce from Lakeland talks about the Tiwal 3R racing sailing dinghy. 00:00 Introduction 00:14 Which Tiwal model do you have? 00:41 Where do you sail? 01:14 What was your experience before Tiwal? 02:18 How do you use your Tiwal? 03:33 How is it going so far? 04:44 What characteristics surprised you? 05:38 What is your best memory with your Tiwal? 06:20 Where would you dream to sail with your Tiwal? -------------------------- Bruce lives in Lakeland, Florida, and sails a Tiwal 3R. Having grown up sailing larger boats, he was looking for an inflatable that would let him adjust the sail and feel truly in control, rather than just floating. He mostly sails solo on a nearby lake, where the boat’s stability and upwind performance continue to surprise him. While he enjoys the quiet freedom of being alone on the water, his favorite moments are sailing with his grandchildren. His teenage grandson even compared it to the fast racing boats he sails up north. One day, he would love to travel and take part in the Tiwal Cup by renting a boat there. It was then she started dreaming of building her own craft, an ambitious feat that would come true years later. On the road to creating an innovative high-speed vessel for everyone from kids and first timers to expert sailors who want to test limits, there were a number of prototypes, failures, challenges and headaches. But, if there’s one thing Marion’s known for, it’s her sailor’s grit! * Combining Fun & Technology * The award winning Tiwal concept is easy assembly and storage - maximum fun and performance for watersports and activities. A Tiwal isn’t your average dinghy! Our design is the result of tons of coordination, talent, and technological savvy. * A Growing Global Community * For our community of Tiwal skippers (more than 2,500 worldwide!) all this innovative design means their focus is fixed on the pleasures of watersports and having tons of fun on a responsive sailing craft. With excellent upwind and downwind abilities combined with high-speeds, Tiwals are a part of both fun and professional performance.
