In this video I explain why sailboat-to-trawler conversions almost never work out the way people hope. I break down the hidden costs, layout compromises, performance problems and costly surprises—and why a “cheap conversion” can become a floating regret very fast. 0:00 - Intro 0:38 - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 1:56 - Super Mario Odyssey 3:23 - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 4:51 - Super Smash Bros. We’re officially crossing into Indonesia… and it’s our very first time doing it. After months of preparing our sailboat Stella, we left Malaysia and set off on a 3 day crossing into Indonesia — sailing straight through the Malacca Strait, one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. This was our first time: – sailing overnight – doing watch shifts alone in the dark – navigating around massive container ships – and crossing into a new country by sea With over 90,000 vessels passing through this strait every year, this crossing was nothing like we expected. From glassy sunsets to pitch-black night sailing… to unexpected storms, engine hiccups, and fishing boats with no AIS — things got intense fast. But after 3 days at sea… we finally saw land. 🇮🇩 Welcome to Indonesia. Next episode, we officially check into the country — with customs, immigration, quarantine, and the harbor master all coming onboard 😅 — before starting our search for remote waves and hidden islands. 🎥 If you’re new here: We’re Camille & Jesse — a young couple who worked in the Australian mines to buy a 39ft sailboat… and now we’re sailing the world. 👍 Subscribe to follow the journey 🌊 Episode 1 of our Indonesia series. 💙 A huge thank you to everyone supporting us on Patreon — you truly help make this sailboat life possible. From couch… to the start line in London. After months of training, early mornings, gym sessions, pool work and road miles, I’m taking on my first proper triathlon. This video shares where the journey started, how the training has gone, managing a tender knee, and what’s coming next — including a 5km endurance swim, an Aquabike event, and my first 10K later this year. This isn’t about winning. It’s about transformation, discipline, and proving to yourself that change is possible at any stage. London awaits… let’s see what happens. 💪🏊♂️🚴♂️🏃♂️ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you found it informative or entertaining please give it a thumbs as it helps get YouTube to promote it outside of the existing subscribers. THE DEADLIEST VOLCANO YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF This week we continue exploring the beautiful island of Martinique, but beyond the beaches and rainforest lies a much darker history. One of the most devastating events in Caribbean history, the 1902 eruption of Mount Pelée. With the volcano still active and closely monitored we hike to the summit, only to be met by thick cloud and ever changing conditions. We also catch up with Finn racing in New Zealand. #boatfoolssailing #sailboat #boatbuilding #boatrestoration #modelboat This 5-Foot Sailboat Is Built Like the Real Thing! | 1941 Bugeye Model This week on BoatFools Sailing, we found something completely different… and completely captivating. At just 5 feet long, this handcrafted 1941 Bugeye model isn’t your typical pond boat. Built and restored by shipwright Captain Neal Parker, this miniature Chesapeake classic is constructed with the same care, detail, and techniques used on full-sized working vessels. Like her full sized version, which were originally carved from logs, the scale model is too. Impressive! Originally, Bugeyes were iconic workboats used for oyster dredging and scallop dragging on the Chesapeake Bay—rugged, purposeful, and unmistakably beautiful. What makes this model so remarkable is that it captures all of that history… in just five feet. From the bowsprit to the stern, every detail tells a story. And in the offseason, while most boats are hauled and covered, craftsmen like Captain Neal are keeping maritime history alive—one model at a time. His has repaired models from all over the world and some reside in the Mystic Seaport Museum in Stonington, Connecticut. He's the real deal. If you love classic sailboats, traditional craftsmanship, and the stories behind the boats, this one’s for you. ⚓ Could this be the smallest “real” sailboat we’ve ever profiled? Luxury On A Budget? | Moody DS41 | The Marine Channel In this video, we take a tour of the Moody DS41, a deck saloon yacht that reinvents the original 'Moody' brand, with its traditional sailing yacht layouts, with a strong focus on onboard living and long-term comfort. The DS41’s raised cockpit and protected helm position create a more enclosed, secure sailing environment. The layout is designed to keep everything on one level, with easy movement between the helm, seating, and companionway—making it particularly well suited to short-handed cruising and extended time onboard. One of the defining features of the Moody DS41 is its deck saloon concept, which brings the main living space up to cockpit level. This creates a seamless connection between the interior and exterior, offering excellent visibility, plenty of natural light, and a more sociable layout compared to traditional sailing yachts. Below deck, the accommodation is designed with practicality and comfort in mind, offering a well-laid-out galley, spacious cabins, and plenty of storage for longer passages. The overall feel is closer to that of a small apartment on the water, rather than a conventional sailing yacht. If you enjoy detailed yacht tours, don’t forget to like, subscribe, and turn on notifications for more marine content.

The market was stabilizing in the new norm, and we had a great January/February, and then as conflicts in the Middle East heated up, the market cooled off a bit. We're starting to see some traction again as consumers start to tune out the "white noise" in the media. If you are in the market to buy a catamaran things haven't looked this good in quite a few years. Life aboard in Luperon, Dominican Republic, including engine troubleshooting, camera testing, cleaning, baking on the boat, and everyday liveaboard sailing life. Combined Life in Luperon has been a mix of engine trouble, cleaning, and trying to enjoy the small wins when they come. This week that means a hike cut short by mosquitoes, more digging into the starboard engine, a new camera to test, and the first batch of brownies from our new oven. In this episode of Sailing Dark Angel, we’re moored in Luperon, where a hike gets cut short by mosquitoes and Dave starts digging into the reasons behind our failing starboard engine. We open up our new DJI Action 5 Pro and compare it to our long-suffering GoPros, while I keep after the never-ending job of trying to keep the boat clean and mold-free. We ran aground and hit as we attempted to enter the anchorage... We spend our last days in Recife working on finally installing the new windlass we bought earlier on our sailing trip. After we finished the work we continue sailing north along the Brazilian coast to an anchorage at Itamaraca. As we enter the river we end up on a shallow sandbank. We managed to get loose and anchored at the river. We spent a few days exploring the area, hanging out with locals and doing dinghy excursions. When we ar about to leave we use the dinghy to map up the inlet, so not to run aground a second time! After spending about a week there we found that we really like the city; lots of Brazilian vibes. While it is more intense than cities we are used to, Recife turned out to be a place we are really glad that we visited. 🛠 Subscribe for more updates from our journey as we sail from Sweden to Brazil and the Caribbean. --------------------------------------------- Hi, we’re Thomas and Petra! 📞 Hello, it’s Lagoon here... An exceptional event in Bordeaux✨ The dream opportunity to discover our entire range of catamarans. We discussed exciting projects and had the immense pleasure of presenting our new Lagoon EIGHTY 3 for the very first time. A big thank you to our partners, the entire team, and everyone who joined us to share these unique events. _______________________________________________________ CATAMARAN INNOVATORS SINCE 1984 Lagoon was formed in pursuit of connection – with ourselves, our loved ones and the world around us. By bringing the human experience to the 7 seas, we’ve been able to unleash an unbridled sense of curiosity and instinctual need for quality since 1984. Something we wouldn’t have accomplished without a collective passion for spectacular destinations and even better journeys getting there. As confirmed sailors, we all know that our boats have to be fast, comfortable and safe: seaworthy. We build them based on our love of the sea and the constant aim of good-quality work. We design them as if we were the future owners. As shipbuilders and sailors, it is part of our logic. Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser, mostly solo, making videos whenever we have time for it. Comfortable at sea with 4 decades of sailing experience and hundreds of thousands of miles behind me. Even though this is season 8 on YouTube, I did not make that many videos in the beginning, and obviously not from my entire sailing life. Before full-time sailing 7 years ago, I sailed several seasons in the Mediterranean, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing and racing ever since. I also have more than 10 years of experience as a captain in search and rescue at sea in Norway.

LIKE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT ⛵ Seawind 1160XL Review – Real Sailing Test, Performance, Space & Value! We didn’t just walk through the Seawind 1160XL at a boat show… We lived on it, sailed it, and pushed it for two full weeks at sea. This is a real-world review — not showroom talk. In this episode, we break down what actually matters: ✔️ Liveaboard comfort ✔️ Space and layout ✔️ Ease of handling (even solo!) ✔️ Build quality and construction ✔️ Real sailing performance (with surprising light-wind speeds) ✔️ Overall value for money ⸻ 🌊 What stood out? Space & Livability The 1160XL absolutely nails usable space — a practical galley, generous cabins, and a layout that works whether you’re a couple or a family cruising full-time. Ease of Handling This boat is incredibly simple to sail. Single-handed? No problem. Even packing away the sail bag is manageable solo. Performance (Real Numbers!) We were hitting: • ⚡ 4 knots in just 6 knots of wind • ⚡ 6 knots in 9 knots of wind (screecher only) It points high, tacks effortlessly, and feels smooth and responsive at the helm. Build Quality Solid, quiet, and confidence-inspiring. With bulkheads integrated directly into the hull during construction, this is a boat built for serious offshore cruising — proven by sailors taking these boats around the world. ⸻ 💰 Value for Money At around $399,000 USD, the Seawind 1160XL delivers an exceptional balance of: ➡️ Performance ➡️ Comfort ➡️ Strength ➡️ Simplicity Whether you’re dreaming of circumnavigation or just epic weekend escapes, this boat delivers. ⸻ 🎥 What’s Next? This is just the beginning… In the next episodes, we go deep into performance testing, sailing setups, and how this boat handles in a range of real conditions. 👉 Make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss it! ⸻ 👍 Our Verdict Two weeks of pure sailing bliss. The Seawind 1160XL gets a big double thumbs up from us. 👣 About Us We’re the Barefoot Doctors — medical doctors and lifelong sailors living full-time aboard a performance expedition catamaran. This time on Distant Shores we have something a little different for you - a behind-the-scenes look at the design process taking place for the new Enksail Orion 54 aluminum sailboat, the big sister to our Orion 49. If you are interested in boat building and boat design, we share a recent video conference we had with Ronald van Enkhuizen, the general manager of Enksail Yachts, where we discuss how the design of the 54 is taking shape, go over early design drawings and make suggestions based on our experience sailing over 17,000 nm on the Orion 49. To illustrate our recommendations, we show video clips that relate to topics in the discussion that we filmed on location on our current Atlantic circuit. I showed up expecting my new $1.5M electric catamaran to be finished… but something wasn’t right. The boat looks nearly complete — and honestly, it’s incredible to see how far it’s come. In this video, I take you inside the Island Spirit factory for a full walkthrough of the latest progress. But there’s one missing component that’s keeping everything from being finished… I’ll show you the entire boat first — then reveal what’s holding it up, why it matters, and how long the delay might be. After that, I switch gears and start getting the Highfield dinghy fully rigged and ready to go so we’re set the moment the boat is finally delivered. 👇 Let me know in the comments: Would YOU wait another month for everything to be done right? Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? If you wish to support our video efforts, all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, SHARE our videos with your friends, AND COMMENT! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TO KNOW US MORE DEEPLY?
