cabin fever, connecting the riser, dancing, tiny home, daily life on a sailboat, bags of tools, comments and questions Cabin fever strikes as we let you see some aspects of our relationship living on a sailboat a.k.a. tiny home. Every nook and cranny is filled to the brim with necessary tools, provisions and living essentials. Although there is only about 480 square feet of space including the engine room on Isabella, we manage to make it work. Finally!!! The riser is installed. Steve used special parts, gasket and bolts, ordered from Cummins along with their torque specification recommendations to secure the riser to the engine and muffler. In this episode, we finally get to start rebuilding the hulls of the boat after grinding a lot of the damaged glass out from the bow areas. Osmosis had caused blisters to form along the entire centerlines of both hulls, so it had been excruciating work grinding out all of the damaged areas in the blistering Malaysian heat! SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. They found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are now sailing through Asia and planning to cross the Indian Ocean!! On a trois jours pour se préparer à passer 21 jours en mer, et tout devient tout de suite très concret. Nourriture, eau, sécurité : une fois partis, il n’y a plus de retour en arrière. Dans cet épisode, on s’attaque à la plus grosse épicerie de notre vie pour huit personnes, avec des choix “mode survie” et des chiffres qui remettent les priorités en place. On fait aussi un tour du bateau côté sécurité : radeau de survie, sac à prendre avec nous, quoi faire si le catamaran se renverse, et les petits tests qu’on veut vérifier avant une longue traversée. Et au milieu de tout ça, il y a l’envie de traverser l’océan pour l’accomplissement… et notre rêve qui se réalise enfin ! A group of Geriatskis took advantage of fairly good sea conditions to paddle to a reef off the old Whaling station, the Bluff, Durban. Anchored one surfski and tied the others to it and explored the 5-10m deep reef structure. Highlights were a large puffer fish and an even bigger crayfish.

It’s gross, it’s necessary, and it’s happening next week. ​Super Bowl Bound: Danielle’s dad’s Seahawks are headed to the big game, and we’ve got friends in town to help us celebrate (even if they're living it up at a resort while we’re on our "old dirty boat"). ​Production Secrets: I’m ditching the old phone and moving to a better setup. I'll be sharing how we edit everything without a computer in a future video. ​Life is quiet with the kids grown, so we're filling the silence with salt breeze, diesel repairs, and damn good food.
