Since the Viking 68 Convertible was launched five years ago, HMY has had the pleasure of building many versions of this excellent mid-sized convertible both for retail customers and for stock. However, when HMY had the opportunity to build two 68s for stock during Summer 2024, the team decided to build two different versions to satisfy two different buyers. 68-055 (recently sold) is a snow-white traditional 68 Convertible tower boat with an elegant décor of white and blues. For 68-056 however, the team decided to push the envelope by ordering the very first 68 Convertible with a molded- in staircase in the cockpit. The molded-in staircase option has been very popular for smaller-sized convertibles such as the 54, 58, and 64, with very few examples with the larger models, and in the past have been ordered by customers who are looking to have a very fast cruising sportfish. However, HMY is seeing more customers who are heavy anglers simply looking for extra comfort by having the luxury of walking up a flight of stairs rather than climbing the ladder. That is why HMY decided to order 68-056 with this configuration. The molded-in staircase option consists of a molded fiberglass staircase that starts to the STBD side of the salon door and ends at the entrance of the flybridge, teak tread steps with bullnose edges, and strip lights underneath of each step for extra safety. 68-056 is an open bridge version with a Palm Beach Towers Hardtop and is being constructed as with a Pamlico Blue Gelcoat Hull Color, a deleted bow pulpit, and with a handsome combination of faux teak complimented with a teak cockpit/mezzanine and teak coaming and covering boards. The décor will be tasteful with a great combination of white taupes, and light browns. With the cockpit molded-in staircase, the salon day head is not affected. Rather, the day-head will be moved at an angle giving preference of entering the space through the cockpit. Kevin Whitcraft's Team Vayu TH 72 and Ray Roberts' Team Hollywood swapped spots today in the two races held in Class Zero of the 36th sailing of the Phuket King's Cup with Team Vayu TH 72 winning the first race, a windward-leeward, and Team Hollywood the second, an island course. Ex-Australian Olympian Steve McConaghy's Aftershock finished third in both races in the three-boat class. Principal Race Officer Simon James staged the same start sequence as day one with six rolling starts to begin racing: first off was IRC Zero, followed by the Premier Class, and then IRC 1, and IRC 2. The Bareboat, Cruising and Classic classes all started together and then the Multihull fleet was the last to cross the start line. On Tuesday 3rd December, leaders Charlie Dalin on MACIF Santé Prévoyance and Sébastien Simon on Groupe Dubreuil have managed to make the best of the light winds ahead of tomorrow's storm in the Vendée Globe, while Yoann Richomme on PAPREC-ARKEA fell into light winds as he heads north to position himself for the approaching low pressure system. We take a look at the tracker and options for routing using PredictWind, to see what the options are for the fleet to make the best use of the wind, while also avoiding the strongest winds, which could top 50 knots at times and be combined with huge seas. The Australian built Riviera’s are know for their craftsmanship and build quality, and this 2005 Riviera 33 Fly, “Well Adjusted” is no exception. Perfect owner/operator size for some overnight fishing trips with a spacious salon and plenty of outdoor comfort. The bridge is fitted with an isinglass enclosure, two helm chairs, a comfortable forward facing bench seat, updated twin Garmin 12″ displays, Garmin closed dome radar, autopilot, fusion stereo, and a full hardtop for added protection. Garmin displays and radar updated in 2022. The spacious cockpit has two in-floor fish boxes (one insulated, one storage), a transom livewell, and a starboard transom door for easy boarding. There are molded steps on both gunnels for assisted boarding as well. The swim platform with chock railings gives the opportunity for a small tender/jet ski or additional space for activities. There is a sink and tackle storage to starboard and portside boats a large deep freezer and stairs to the bridge. Six rocket launchers mounted to the aft bridge and additional rod holders around the cockpit. Moving inside, you are welcomed by large hull side windows allowing plenty of natural light inside. The boat does have shades over the windows to give you privacy when needed. She includes a large dinette with expandable table aft, and a well appointed galley down. The birth forward sleeps two comfortably, and the head includes a separate shower. This 2005 Riviera 33 Fly has plenty of storage on board and finished in classic walnut interior.
