We thought this would be a quick fix… it wasn’t. After arriving in Dar es Salaam, we set out to tick off a list of jobs before leaving the boat behind at anchor. One of the biggest? Fixing our anchor chain and windlass issue. We replaced the motor. We tried a deep water drop. We even swapped the chain ends. And still… nothing worked. What followed was a mix of problem-solving, frustration, a bit of trial and error… and eventually stepping away to reset before diving back in. With the boat prepped as best we could, we locked everything down—taking extra precautions before leaving her unattended—and headed off on a surf trip we’ve been looking forward to for a long time. Next stop: airport, road trip… and new waves.
