Ever wondered what it’s like to fly by helicopter from Spain to North Africa? 🚁 In this video, we take the short but spectacular flight with Helity from Algeciras to Ceuta—crossing the famous Strait of Gibraltar in just minutes. This is one of the fastest (and most unique) ways to travel between Europe and Africa. We show you the full experience—from check-in and boarding to the flight itself—so you know exactly what to expect if you’re considering this route. Is it worth it? How does it compare to the ferry? And what do you actually see from the air? If you’re planning a trip in southern Spain or looking for a different way to reach Ceuta, this might be the most memorable part of your journey. Last week my brother joined me onboard and we had a pretty rough sail... this week it changes! We have the most perfect conditions while moored in a location unlike any others in the Tuamotus! We dive, make fires, open coconuts, and finish with a slow, easy sail to pick up my parents! Sailing vessel Tapatya This is the story of SV Tapatya, a self-built, Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of our adventures as I live aboard, sail and strive to find out just what such a self-built, low-budget vessel is capable of. These videos take a lot of time and effort to make, in what is already a time-intensive project. Your support in watching, subscribing and sharing these videos is very much appreciated. #Voilier #SanBlas #SailingLife #VoyageEnVoilier #Caraibes

We finally finished another job. Just 72 days left of our 100 day to launch challenge. We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. We have a frequently updated blog at https://sustainablesailing.net with membership options and a weekly newsletter at £2 per month for Early Bird Supporters. Our free Sustainable Sailing book is at: https://sustainablesailing.codeberg.page/ Or visit our shop at https://sustainablesailing.teemill.com/ for great hoodies, t-shirts and bags. When we bought Vida in August 2019 she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all-electric (motor, cooking etc). Building internal systems from scratch?! It's not an easy feat. We're pushing to get out of the Marina and live on anchor as soon as we can manage, but we also happen to be LIVING on the site that we're working. This means we'll need power, fresh running water, a functioning toilet and waste management systems before we motor out of here. Not only do we have to consider what will be the fastest way, but also how these systems will work for our permanent set up so that we're not backtracking and re-running cables and lines. It's a lot to consider, but we don't have the time to sit around and consider it. It's time to get to work! ____________________________________________________________________________ For ad-free and early release episodes, behind the scenes content and live updates, check out our Patreon! This one's for anyone who's been overthinking it. 00:00 - The honest disclaimer 00:30 - The two versions of "get experience first" 01:33 - What I actually believe about learning to sail 02:27 - How I'm doing this responsibly (not recklessly) 03:03 - The gatekeeping problem in sailing 03:40 - Where I land on all of it #sailing #sailboat #learntosail #sailinglife #liveaboard #monohull #bahamasbound #captainseabound #sailboatbuying #beginnersailor

I’m sailing from Almere toward Lemmer in The Netherlands – the town where my love for sailing started when I was just ten years old. Now I’m back with my 27ft Grinde Loveworkx, ready for the next big chapter: my solo circumnavigation. I moor at Zeilmakerij De Vries Maritiem, the same place where I once worked at the reception desk. Today they’re making a brand new sprayhood, a rain-catching cover for the tropics, a dinghy cover, and even a cockpit hammock for better watch-keeping. Watch the whole process: measuring, bending frames, cutting fabric and the final result. It feels incredibly special to return to the place where it all began while preparing my boat for the big oceans ahead. Full circle moments like this make the journey even more meaningful. ❤️⛵ 💙 Love my videos? Subscribe, hit the notification bell 🔔, and leave a comment—I’d love to hear your thoughts and questions on my journey or your own sailing dreams! 💨 Follow my solo circumnavigation (started July 1, 2023, from The Netherlands) at sailing.loveworkx.com. 🌟 Support my journey: Patron: patreon.com/loveworkx (€1.50/month) PayPal: paypal.me/Loveworkx Shop: sailing.loveworkx.com/shop Thanks for watching, liking, commenting, and subscribing! Here's a quick video on how to remove the gear housing on a Yanmar 4JHBE so we can access the timing gear set underneath! This is a relatively easy job and a common one performed on many marine diesel engines. This engine uas a fairly common setup similar to what you'd find on most marine diesel engines!

This video walks through everything you need to inspect on your anchor chain, rope, and splice before the start of every sailing season — and what to do when you find a problem. What this video covers: - How to lay out and inspect your chain link by link, and what wear, corrosion, and pitting look like - Why pitted chain must be replaced and when re-galvanizing is worth considering versus buying new - How to wash down your ground tackle dockside and why rinsing out salt regularly extends the life of your entire rode package - Why the backsplice joining your rope and chain must be inspected every single year for flexibility, fraying, tail separation, and elongation - Why a gap is intentionally left in the splice when it is first made, and how nylon shrinking around the first chain link causes windlass problems over time - How to restore flexibility to a stiff splice using your hands, a mallet, or a flathead screwdriver without causing any damage - How fabric softener in cool water can restore the flexibility of a stiff rope and extend its working life - How to double the life of your rope by cutting off a worn splice at the working end and re-splicing from the bitter end Annual inspection takes an hour on the dock. Skipping it can cost you your anchor at sea. Boat building, regardless of whether the main material used is wood, fibreglass, carbon fibre, or a combination of them all, relies on epoxy for laminating, bonding and infusion. PRO-SET® Epoxies have been developed since the mid-1980s, and offer enhanced handling characteristics, excellent cure profiles, and uniform mix ratios, making them the perfect choice from boat builders such as Ovington Boats. At the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show 2026 I spoke to David Johnson and Hamish Cook of Wessex Resins & Adhesives, as well as Nathan Batchelor from Ovington Boats, to find out more about how the companies work together. #boatbuilding #dinghy #epoxy #epoxyresin

► From offshore racing to cruising, the world's leading manufacturer of navigation electronics is essential aboard many multihulls. Founded in 1956 in Lymington, England, B&G – short for Brookes & Gatehouse – has gradually established itself as a benchmark in sailing instrumentation. Now part of the Navico Group, a subsidiary of Brunswick Corporation, the brand leverages a global ecosystem, with technical teams located in the main sailing areas. ► This network allows B&G to support shipyards for original equipment installations as well as retrofitting multihulls already in operation. ► B&G's history is closely linked to offshore racing. Navigation tools are developed and tested there to provide reliable data and ensure continuous updates that are immediately usable on board. These technologies are then adapted for cruising and recreational boating, with simplified interfaces but without any loss of information. Certain systems, like Hercules, have left their mark on generations of sailors. ► Today, instruments, autopilot, C-MAP chartplotters, and radar are designed to work together within a single onboard network. Current solutions extend this logic. Zeus systems now form the core of the network. Nemesis displays, dedicated to providing information, allow for configurable readings of key data according to the navigation phase, from fine-tuning to standby. We will soon return to these systems in more detail, particularly the Zeus SRX. ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! In this video I carry out a full service on my Yanmar 3JH2E boat engine aboard my sailboat, a Hunter Legend 376 What started as a simple maintenance job quickly turned into one of those typical boat days… where nothing goes exactly as planned. During this service I change the engine oil, oil filter, diesel fuel filters, and bleed the diesel system before starting the engine again. If you own a Yanmar marine diesel engine, this is a real-life look at basic maintenance you’ll eventually need to do on your boat. And yes… there are spills, frustration, and a few things going wrong along the way. Just another normal day of boat maintenance.
