On traverse de la Sardaigne jusqu’en Corse avec le Moody 56… et la passe nous a donné tout un accueil 😅 Vent dans la figure, rafales à 30 nœuds, mer serrée. Et comme d’habitude : la caméra ne rend JAMAIS justice. Dans l’épisode, les vagues ont l’air minuscules… mais en vrai, ça brassait pour vrai 🌊 Ce bateau-là nous a vraiment impressionnés. On ne pensait jamais dire ça d’un monocoque, mais il prend la mer avec une douceur surprenante. On s’est sentis en sécurité tout le long. On arrive en Corse juste avant le mistral. In this episode we interview Dan and Julia, who went through a horrific ordeal in remote indoneisa, where Julia contracted malaria, and no one was able to diagnose her correctly until it was almost too late. Her organs started to shut down, and she puts her survival largely down to the fact that she got an emergency medevac flight back to australia for treatment. She is very lucky to be alive, and this is an eye opener for all of us traveling in these parts of the world…. We escape the hustle and bustle of Georgetown and make a run to Long Island. Hiding from 30+ knots winds in Thompson Bay makes it the perfect place to reunite with some friends. This episode is an emotional roller coaster. After moving forward, it feels like we're taking two steps back. Unfortunately, we found that 80% of our work now involves fixing severe structural and leveling problems from the initial welding on the aluminum deck of our boat. We face a huge challenge in aligning the forward deck, which is completely out of line and uneven. You'll see the frustration, but also the clever solution we found with Peter to shrink the stringer and bring the deck back to the correct position, using heat and tension! In addition to dealing with the structural problems, we had to make a crucial final decision: Design Change: We simplified the original plan and moved the chain locker to the bow, for safety and usability reasons. Final Layout Decision: It's time for the cuts of no return! We marked and cut the new hatches and portlights. My DIY project continues. Lots of sanding is required to prepare Celinas hull for the osmosis treatment. Luckily her hull was dry to the bone and no osmosis was detected. To keep it this way I closed all holes and cracks with thickened epoxy and applied five layers of Gel-Shield 200. Antifouling protection was applied afterwards using Hempels Silic One biocide free fouling release system. To be continued...

What was supposed to be a calm sail quickly turned into a wild birthday at sea… and the captain (me!) definitely didn’t see this surprise coming. 🎂🌊 After weeks of storms, jellyfish stings, and sleepless nights, we finally started making our way back down from Thailand to Malaysia before Jesse flies back to the mines. But this crossing had it all — flat calm seas, wild squalls, and one massive birthday surprise that left us both shocked (and with dinner sorted for the week!). From catching a giant Spanish mackerel mid-sail to dodging storms across two countries, this was a birthday I’ll never forget.
