After a peaceful night at anchor off Koh Larn, we woke up to the bay filling with jet skis and tour boats, so it was time to move on. Unfortunately, I was already feeling terrible from something I ate the night before. We got the boat underway and made the 10-mile run north to Koh Sichang, a much more industrial island with a completely different vibe. Chloe, the dogs, and I made it ashore for lunch, but I was still feeling too rough to do much exploring. So Chloe grabbed the camera and took over, giving you a tour of Koh Sichang, including one of the island’s beautiful temples, while I headed back to the boat to recover. Hello everybody. After a little hiatus, we are back to producing videos. Season 8 took us from Panama and finished on the island of Tahiti in French Polynesia, and Season 9 will take us from Tahiti to Tonga, then Fiji, and all the way to New Zealand. There is a lot of passage making in this upcoming season, and some more great exploring and diving in these wonderful islands that dot the South Pacific. These videos are about six months behind, but we will be catching up with this season. Today, the boat was loaded on a ship in Auckland, New Zealand, headed to Spain for our summer sailing in the Mediterranean. It was bittersweet to finish Season Nine in Auckland and leave the boat and come home. The fourteen months of cruising from Panama to New Zealand was all that we hoped for and more. It's a bit melancholy to have it be over. I know, I know, there will be more adventures ahead, but I don't know if anybody can top crossing that ocean. We spend four incredible days exploring remote motus and the underwater world, soaking in everything this special place has to offer. But an earlier-than-forecast return of the east winds quickly changes the picture, turning the anchorage into an untenable spot. We head back toward the westernmost pass, and after checking the weather again, make the call to relocate—knowing the west side offers no protection once those east winds set in. Doch statt wie üblich drei Wochen sind sie bereits seit drei Monaten auf der Insel. Wegen des Ölembargos fahre keine Fähren, landen keine Flugzeuge mehr. Ohne Touristen ist Kuba nicht überlebensfähig. Knapp eine Million Menschen arbeiten direkt oder indirekt in diesem Sektor. Fast alle haben derzeit keine Einkünfte.
