We visit Indiantown Marina and talk to the onsite broker to see what boats they have for us to look at. They take us to look at a catamaran which has not been something we have even considered in our search for a sailboat due to being out of our budget. This boat is very close to our budget and in great shape. Check it out and if you are looking for one of these contact the broker and they will help you purchase this one. We install our Raymarine wind transducer and itc5 converter but for the last 9 months, it hasn't worked. We are pretty sure that's because we installed it incorrectly from the beginning. If you are installing your new Raymarine or any marine electronics make sure to read your instruction manual. Love the chase fam adventures from the future! Hey! Welcome back. In this video we’re in Almerimar marina, on the south coast of Spain - and we’ve come into the marina to get through a long list of boat projects before continuing on. Welcome to the other side of sailing. It’s definitely a work hard play hard kind of thing. It’s time to haul the boat out and it's the first time we’re hauling out since we bought her so we’re hoping we don't have any nasty surprises. We’re living on the hard in this video and it’s long days and exhausted evenings. We get cracking on our boat jobs - starting with scraping all the old bottom paint off which is peeling off, before being able to start repainting. This job is crazyyy slow - and very labour intensive. We scrape, then sand before even being able to start painting. #tayana37 #haulout #boatyard #boatjobs Thanks for watching! It’s been several months now, working in this area, to try and get the dredge up the river to multiple locations and testing for the best place to sign leases. We left for a weeklong expedition up the river and tested multiple locations and decided on two fantastic spots where we averaged about 10 g for the day of working. We estimate at these locations we can probably put about three dredges on each location, giving us the availability to get at least an ounce per day, per site, which is fantastic. Then just a day's weather window - light winds, but enough to sail and sometimes Rutland Water does its own 'weather' thing and comes up with a surprise. We started with very light winds, but launched anyway and there was enough wind to sail. We sailed out passed Normanton Church and over to Whitwell Creek before tacking and heading up towards the dam A wind change and a pickup made for more interesting sailing. We head on a broad reach towards Hambleton Peninsula and then saw the cruiser fleet sailing well in the distance - down the southern leg of Rutland Water. Another wind change and we were tacking towards the end of the leg, at times sailing close to the cruisers and at one stage passing through comfortably. The wind changed again and we tacked back towards Rutland Sailing Club and the pontoons enjoying the sailing. In the distance we saw 30+ Waszp foiling out towards the 'Pond' for their race - taking advantage of the improved wind. BTW I did get my hands on the helm a few times too. Mike took us back and did a perfect landing at the pontoons. Boat recovered and back on her trailer in the boat park - ready for next time - soon we hope.

Hey Folks, We continue west across the Okeechobee Waterway (spanning 134 nautical miles across Florida), making a pit stop at Indiantown Marina and then testing our luck by passing a bridge with minimal clearance. 😬 We're Esther and Michael, an American couple with writing and photography backgrounds. In 2017, we sold our loft in Atlanta and moved aboard a 1994 Island Packet 35 named Hope that needed some love (and boat work after sitting on the hard for over three years!). As we learn how to become better sailors, we’re especially interested in living small to gain abundance—cultivating sustainable living habits and having more time for nature and art! And we're learning about ways to 'live small' by reducing our waste footprint on and off the boat! #suriname #kayaking #rainforest #boatarrivals #checkintosuriname #sailingsouthamerica After sailing to the only marina in Suriname, we had to go through the check in procedure in the capital city of Paramaribo. We caught a taxi into town and were surprised at all the different religions practised in this country. Once in town, we had to go to the department of health to be screened and cleared, immigration for the E -visas, the Maritime Authority Suriname and finally the military police. After this we bought some shopping and a sim card to get online. When we finished in town, we headed back to Waterland Marina Resort to explore the nearby creeks on the kayaks. Here we found monkeys, birds of prey, one clawed crabs and even a massive tarantula! DISCLAIMER: Marine-16 gave us this Diesel Dipper for free, it has already saved our bacon and I'm really pleased we have it on board, but I feel it's important that people know we were gifted this awesome device and I appreciate it's not an inexpensive bit of kit. I can honestly say that I wouldn't be without one now, but you have to factor in my biases when I say that and make up your own mind if this would be something you see as a sound investment for your boating needs. This is an addition to this weeks video and it's an interview, well, perhaps it's more of a long form conversation with the inventor or the diesel dipper who talks to us about him, his background, and how the diesel dipper came to be, along with how Marine-16 became one of the countries go to companies for diesel management issues in the UK. https://www.marine16.co.uk to speak to someone directly at Marine-16, either about the Dipper or the fuel treatment chemicals available, then you can find all their contact details here: https://www.marine16.co.uk/contact

We sailed into St. Croix with one big mission, to dive the Frederiksted Pier. We first start off by fixing our watermaker that has been out of commission for almost a year. Fresh water, it is the most important resource on Saoirse. Back when we didn’t have a watermaker, being able to get water determined where we should go next. But we didn’t know any difference so it wasn’t that big of a deal. But once you have one it can be a challenge adjusting back to jerry cans. Ours has been out of commission for about a year. After a misdiagnosis; Beau is finally getting around to rebuilding the high pressure pump. Hopefully this will do the trick! St. Croix, one of three islands that makes up the US Virgin Islands. It’s considered to be the most underrated island of the three, probably because it’s a little further to get to. But the diving here is among the best in the world. Frederiksted Pier is one of those spots. Because of the pandemic, cruise ships haven’t been at the port in a very long time, leaving nature to do it’s thing. It’s the most vibrant coral we’ve seen to date. We took the opportunity to do our first night dive there too. Hope you enjoy it! We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted 70ft wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the works needed were a lot more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional Brazilian shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way. The Decks needed a serious upgrade, Time to Redo the Deck with Kiwi Grip... This was a bad one!! https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode, we take a little step back in time to when Nandji was still high and dry on the hard stand. We first painted the decks with kiwi grip back in 2017, before we departed Australia. I also completed a massive deck repair back when I knew nothing about fibreglassing.... I say it a lot in our videos, there are great repair jobs on Nandji, and there are shit ones. This one I did was shocking!! 😂So a quick fix up and repaint the entire boat with kiwi grip to bring everything up fresh and flush! Every man is proud of their Deck! Thank you. https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/Sailingnandji Grab some Sailing Nandji merch and help support our adventures whilst looking good! https://sailingnandji-shop.com With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef... We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace as we have just had our first baby, born in Malaysia! Well, we got our behind's kicked by New England winter! Our boat (and ourselves) are not equipped for such conditions. We are lucky enough to have a yard willing to go above and beyond to help us out. They hauled us out despite having winterizing their yard and really being at capacity. They found a corner and shoehorned us in. Thanks for the help! And make sure you stick around to the end of the video for the surprise we think pretty much everyone has been waiting for. More details on that to follow! Thanks for watching- With love The Evans' **************************************** *Our Boat* 2008 Beneteau 49 3 cabin 2 head 4JH4-TE Westerbeke generator Mast, sails and rig are in excellent condition and in storage Here's what we *think* we know about her past. Keep in mind we bought her at auction without ever meeting the owner! The owner was sailing along and ran aground - hard. Hard enough that the keel pivoted and pushed the aft end up into the hull. This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull. At some point an inspection was done, insurance was called and decisions were made. We are preparing to cross the Atlantic, upgrading the boat as needed and biding our time for the right weather! In this satisfying video, we up anchor at St. Georges and motorboat to a special place to hide from hurricanes in our sailboat. We anchor our sailboat in a pond like bay and have some fun aboard catamarans in between some torrential thunderstorms full of thunder and lightning. We go scuba diving on a wreck that we learned about from SV Delos, the Tyrrel bay. The girls have a bit of fun with karaoke. We tour the island and dive a bit deeper into the local culture. Our new friends teach us how to play dominoes island style! Special Guests: SV Kuma Too: Mandi & Joe The crew from Kuma Too charters their Leopard 47 in St. Thomas USVI as they work toward their around-the-world sailing plans. SV Dragonfly: Jen & Ryan This power couple is cruising the Caribbean with their daughter aboard their Leopard 46 catamaran. Ryan helped us out with some awesome drone shots. SV Kraken: Don & Lisa These entrepreneurial cats are hanging out for a bit, having started Grenada's only chiropractic clinic. Special Mentions & Thanks SV Delos for diving inspiration, Scubatech Grenada for taking us underwater! Who are we? We are lifelong sailors and accomplished sailboat racers that got a taste of the world and wanted to see the rest. We are from Ohio/Michigan and we bought a sailboat and re-fit it in a boatyard in Rhode Island, and keep doing boat projects along the way to improve her. We have been cruising the northeast, Maine, Bahamas, and the Caribbean and have been living off the grid since then. We set off almost two years ago with a goal to sail around the world via the Great Capes. We are Kate, Curtis, and Roxy the Dog. It is still our goal to sail around Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope, it is just going to take a little longer than we thought, until then, voyage with us via our YouTube channel :-) We were inspired by videos from the likes of SV Delos, Sailing La Vagabond, Gone with the Wynns, Tula's Endless Summer, and many other YouTube sailing channels. We don't have a fancy catamaran, but we think we have the perfect performance cruising sailboat, for us at least. We wanted to pass the same inspiration along. Hopefully, our videos motivate you to get out there and go sailing as well. And unfortunately, there is a northerly blow headed our way. Which means we’re going to need to move along, even if we don’t want to. And we don’t! We’ve only scratched the surface of a few islands and considering there are 62 here, that isn’t saying much. But, we have yet to win an argument with mother nature and we’ve learned better than to even try. Luckily, we’ve made a couple of friends who are keen to show us around before we set off into the horizon. So, not only do we have a lovely day of exploring remote islands and reefs, but we also get a full tour of their off-grid, self-built island homestead! Glen and Karen started a little eco-resort on Uoleva island six years ago called Fanifo Lofa (it means kite surf in Tongan). I bet you can’t guess what sport Glen is into? In non-covid times, when borders are open, kite surfers from all over the world flock to their eco-resort to kite, eat, sleep and repeat. But, like the rest of Tonga and most of the South Pacific, they haven’t had a guest since 2019. WHO ARE WE? We’re Jason and Nikki Wynn. We been living #OffTheGrid and exploring the world for 10 years. Our first six years of #travel were an epic road trip around North America. Now we’re on a #sailing voyage about the world. Did we have any previous sailing experience, of course not! Neither of us is overly talented, smart, rich, lucky, or retired. But that doesn’t stop us from reaching far-flung destinations, having wild #adventures and managing everything that makes living aboard a moving vessel possible. We’re two ordinary people that just so happen to live an extraordinary life. And this is why we publish our lives on the world wide web. We share in hopes of inspiring you to find your adventure. Colin finally gives his opinion on the Lagoon 450 design flaw involving the weak bulkhead. Too many Lagoon 450's have contacted him with exactly the same failure, for him to rule out there being a design flaw anymore, as the count is over 20 boats, and counting. Boats that have never been through a hurricane, never run aground, never had their rigs over tensioned, are falling victim to the failure, which costs tens of thousands of dollars to repair, so it must be time for Lagoon to step up to the plate and do something about this now... This series will show never before seen footage of how we straightened and strengthened a 45ft production catamaran, in order to be able to complete a circumnavigation. Located in Linton bay, in Panama, we meet our fair share of challenges trying to rebuild this boat from the bulkheads up... Not only do we have the catamaran build happening in the tent, but there's another secret project that we've been working on lately. While I turn my attention towards that for a few days, Matt is still busy inside of the tent preparing for our bulkheads to go in. Now the unidirectional is in place and we have the alignment on hulls of where they're supposed to sit, they just need to be trimmed into place. Luckily, the laser needed for this was much easier to see this time! Stay tuned next week for when our first bulkheads get permanently installed! We hope you enjoy! Much love from Annapolis! We're Alejo and Andrea, a Colombian / American couple in love with adventuring and exploring the ocean. We previously lived in a converted travel trailer as we explored the best kitesurfing spots of North America, and now we're living in our off-grid sailboat while managing our online business as digital nomads. We're now sailing the Caribbean as we explore the best of this blue planet by kiteboarding, free diving, scuba diving, and fishing. ⛵ Our goal here is to inspire you to chase after your own dreams! We hope to create a community of like-minded, positive individuals who will grow to love and support one another on their own journeys.
ESCAPING MATERIALISTIC HABITS isn't usually that hard on a SAILBOAT. Down island, you don't have much choice...you either adapt to what's available or you go home. NOT an option for us! And we've done quite well enjoying local food, unusual brands, etc. UNTIL we get thrust back into the land of endless consumer goods! St. Martin is the first island we've been to since the USVI with EVERYTHING available. And not only available, but at crazy low prices! It threw us back into some old materialistic habits. But again...it's all relative. We haven't been able to buy Rivers decent new clothes for nearly 2 years! And then there are the restaurants...oui, oui!! Enjoy!! And be sure to SUBSCRIBE for WEEKLY CONTENT EVERY FRIDAY! Cheers!! Thanks for watching SailAway, the travel documentary of an adventurous sailing couple, plus toddler and dog, sailing the world! Let's go to Washington D.C. and talk about money! In this episode we open our books a bit to share how we are able to live the full time travel and RV life. We also celebrate a National Holiday (or not)...Brandon's birthday! But what would an MGM video and adventure be without finding friends. We're finding that the places we go are truly made better by the people we get to meet. Do it (whatever "IT" is for you)...fear is nothing compared to regret! We leave Cape York and sail to Thursday Island where we visit the Quetta All Souls Memorial Cathedral, which was built in the early 1900's, and named in remembrance of those who perished on board the Quetta which sank in 1890. The church has several artefacts from the Quetta shipwreck including several of the benchtops that are made from stonework from the ship, a port hole that was recovered in 1906, and the life ring that was found washed up on Albany Island We check out the Green Hill Fort which was built between 1891-1893 as part of Australia's defence against a possible Russian invasion. It was decommissioned some time in 1927, before being reactivated during WWII and was used as a signals and wireless station We then head south down the western side of Cape York to get a better wind angle for the 2 night crossing from Port Musgrave in Queensland, to the Gove Peninsula in the Northern Territory, across the Gulf of Carpentaria. #seawind1260 #circumnavigationaustralia #thursdayisland #seawindcatamarans
