ESCAPING MATERIALISTIC HABITS isn't usually that hard on a SAILBOAT. Down island, you don't have much choice...you either adapt to what's available or you go home. NOT an option for us! And we've done quite well enjoying local food, unusual brands, etc. UNTIL we get thrust back into the land of endless consumer goods! St. Martin is the first island we've been to since the USVI with EVERYTHING available. And not only available, but at crazy low prices! It threw us back into some old materialistic habits. But again...it's all relative. We haven't been able to buy Rivers decent new clothes for nearly 2 years! And then there are the restaurants...oui, oui!! Enjoy!!
