An extraordinary experience in the most beautiful anchorage we have ever seen. Being anchored in this place is how I dreamed sailing life would be. A quiet place with tropical blue water, endless white beaches, dolphins swimming around the boat in the morning, beautiful snorkeling reefs and sunshine. While we were on our way to the sandbank two dolphins approached us and kept swimming around the dinghy so we decided to get in the water. The little one was very curious and came really close. After SEVEN weeks, we were giddy with excitement to finally leave the Abacos and sail to Eleuthra on Christmas Eve. We had seen so many of our friends make this journey, leaving us behind. It was now our turn. Little Harbor Cut turned out to be an easy cut to navigate and we were off. We thought we would have mild wind and seas, but it turned out to be VERY sporty. We were flying, often surfing down waves at 10+kts. We caught a skip jack tuna right out of the gates and pulled it in. Soon after, we snagged a Mahi on the line. It jumped off after a 20 minute battle royale. Then, we had TWO mahi bulls hit the lines. Brown and I grabbed the poles and did our best to keep the mahi, but the boat was moving way too fast. We were occupied and couldn't slow the boat down and we ended up losing both of the Mahi. We did not have the skills to pull them in, but one thing we need to practice is heaving to so next time, we CAN take the time to reel them in. It's always a tough one when stretched for daylight on a long sail. You have to make decisions about slowing down and losing daylight or continuing speed and losing the fish. The International Safety at Sea course sponsored by US Sailing gave us hands-on experience and comfort using our own safety gear. One of our favorite features is the excellent ventilation since we mostly live as "hookers" (aka at anchor) where the boat automatically turns into the wind so we stay cool and we don't need to battle mold. We also have starlink for easy off-grid life. Our 2400 watt solar panel array also means we rarely need to run an engine to charge our batteries. The waters off the Swedish holiday hotspot of Marstrand took on a different complexion on day two of 44Cup racing, with a sharp chop and the wind backed from the northwest to the south and gusting into the mid-high teens. But once again the sun was out and the temperature perfect for three more races to be held at this mid-way event of the 2022 44Cup hosted by the Marstrands Segelsällskap with the support of the Marstrands Havshotell.

The Royal Ulster Yacht club turned on both the sunshine and plenty of wind for day two of the 2022 Bangor Town Regatta. The afternoon coastal race was tight with just a few minutes separating the fleet on corrected time after more than three hours of racing on Belfast lough. The Redline Racing team on Going To Red had there best day of the regatta getting closer to the pointing end of the fleet, it was good to get away and test our speed against some boats outside the lough that set the benchmark for IRCRA sailing in Ireland. Congratulation to the team on Storm who showed there quality across the whole weekend to take the first prize in IRC2. Looking forward to getting back on the water next month for the annual narrows series on Stangford Lough, hopefully the local boats are in the water and ready to go on the start line.

We spend 3 days soaking up the Nassau Vibe, provisioning, and buying pieces and parts for projects. With another North Atlantic system bearing down on us, forecasted to bring strong northeast and east winds for multiple days, we are in search of a more protected place to sit out the weather. The last part of our passage to Isla Parida was super light and we had to motor some but we did manage to eek out some sailing. We experienced our first battery shutdown due to overheating which began the process of installing a blower for our batteries. Regardless, it was a fantastic passage overall and dropping the hook in pretty Isla Parida was a wonderful feeling. There is something so thrilling about experiencing a new ocean . . it's hard to explain. Each step of the process has been memorable beginning with entering the ocean via the Panama Canal, Sailing in the Ocean, Swimming in the Ocean and later, more recently, Snorkeling in the Ocean and exploring it's underwater world. Our passage to Costa Rica started out beautifully with a gorgeous sunrise. Nature really put on a show which added to the thrill of embarking on a journey to a new country. The passage that followed was pleasant and using the blower worked extremely well, preventing the batteries from overheating. We love sailing in light wind because Calico Skies is set up well for it and really moves in a light breeze. Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. Bereits 2018 starteten wir Richtung Wien, doch ein Motorschaden in der Straße von Messina zwang uns, den Überstellungstörn abzubrechen. The Crinan canal runs from Crinan to Ardrishaig, and is used mostly by yachts travelling from the Clyde to and from the Western Isles. It is a regular dog walking spot for us, and this time I had my drone! Les équipes de secours nous ont demandé s'il était possible de faire une exercice sur la Désirade pour la formation des nouveaux bénévoles secouristes. En remerciement nous avons eu le privilège de visiter la vedette et surtout d'avoir 30 minutes en navigation à son bord.
