The final few days in the boat yard were great! All the little jobs that I'd been working on started to get ticked off real quick and it was just win win win. We sail from Mayreau to the Tobago Cays and have a wonderful stay. When we are snorkeling we can see turtles and rays. Afterwards we cruise to Union Island, visit Ashton and Chatham Bay. At Seckie's and Vanessa's restaurant we spend a Caribbean evening with live music. Then it's time to say goodbye and we set our course back to Martinique. Sailing solo into the Worlds second busiest shipping lane at night, after a 1300 nautical miles nonstop solo sail from Martinique to Panama. It was a rush all week on the boat, it is unbelievable the amount of small things to do! It was so much that we didn't record allot of content. But a lot was accomplished. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. It is always fun to deploy a new sail for the first time, nothing can replace the sound of the fist flap before you sheet it in and get going. The only down side is that those flaps are the start of the process which knocks it out of shape and will ultimately lead to you needing a new one at some point in the future. We don't expect the new Code Zero for our J109 to be deployed many times, when it does we should be lightening fast. This could give us the best of both worlds, a sail that will last for many years that stays fast when we do use it. We are looking forward to seeing how the structured luff technology from Doyle sails works on the J109 Code Zero, with the bob stay fitted to the bow sprit we should be able to crank on the pressure on the luff which should give us both speed and hight for the those tight reaching legs. The bottom up boats Redline racing team is working hard to get to grips with the new J109 and hopes you are enjoying the footage we are sharing as we learn along the way. We hope to bring you more footage of the Code Zero in race trim our initial play tells us we should be lightening quick when we get to use this sail in anger....

This is Episode 39 of our adventure. Visually, not much happened this week, Hugh spent most his time on the phone, emailing and thinking. He does manage to fit in a bit of physical labour in the form of rebuilding the hatch surrounds. The end result might look the same but he has to use a different method for each as its a boat and everything is custom. We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. We have bought a boat we have to gut it, rebuild it, sell all of our possessions and have the guts to cast off. Quersto per evitare una "canalata", che poi sarebbe vento forte e contrario, prevista pèer martedì e mercoledì. Ma dovrebbe essere una navigazione tranquilla. Per evitare dsiu essere rallentati dai residui delle correnti contrarie, faremo rottra sulla costa calabrese dove sfgrutteremo i "bastardi" che sono delle piccole correnti vicinissime alla costra e che sono contrarier a quelle principali. Ein Jahr, 3 6 5 Tage, sind wir nun mit unserer Manatee unterwegs! Was war das für ein Jahr - es kommt uns so viel länger vor! So viel ist passiert und so viel haben wir gelernt und auch lernen müssen. In so kurzer Zeit. Wir sind unglaublich über uns hinaus gewachsen und sind stolz, was wir da zusammen geleistet haben. Denn es war nicht immer leicht. Wir haben sehr oft das Boot, das Meer und uns verflucht. Gleichzeitig haben wir aber auch gelernt auf dem Meer als Team (und nicht als Paar) zu agieren und zu funktionieren. Wir haben nach und nach unser Boot besser kennen und segeln gelernt, sodass auch die Törns entspannter wurden. Wir freuen uns, dass wir es bis hierher geschafft haben. Einige haben uns nicht viel zugetraut. Sehr viel mehr von Euch aber haben nie gezweifelt und uns motiviert weiterzumachen. Vielen Dank!
