We're kicking the end of the year off with the satisfying resolution to the ultimate question "What the heck was growing on our abandoned boat?!". This massive job took 2 whole days, and although this clean was purely for aesthetics...we feel like it's given us the boost of morale that we needed to power through the last 2 weeks of the build. We hope you feel great satisfaction watching this, as much as we felt doing it! Happy holidays everyone 💙 We would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land and seas which we work, play and live on: the Kombumerri peoples. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging: and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It’s real, it’s fast, it’s funny at times, and it’s everything why we love ocean racing (spoiler alert - it's not what you imagine racing to be like)! Step aboard for Part 2 of the Rolex Fastnet Race with seven Dazcats racing through a record 20-boat MOCRA multihull fleet. This episode is around the Rock and to the finish in Cherbourg, with raw, unfiltered access to what it’s really like to sail these boats at 20+ knots. With footage from on board six of the seven Dazcats, most of the up-close action comes from D1495 Hissy Fit - the biggest boat with the biggest crew, a dedicated media person, and enough hands on deck to capture the real moments… and still time to enjoy more than our fair share of snacks. Follow the racing stories as D1295 Minor Swing takes 1st on corrected time in the under-50ft class, with Hissy Fit close behind in 2nd, though they crossed the line in reverse order, and see why Dazcats remain fast, fun, and fiercely competitive - new and old alike. Hear from Dazcat’s naval architect Luca, who raced the season on Minor Swing, about why he believes it’s essential to sail as many different boats as possible, and how that experience feeds straight back into design. This episode brings you: Real conversations Real speed Real Dazcat life - wild, funny, sometimes wet, amazingly relaxed and full of heart Home-cooked meals, relentless snacks, and always smiling crews A true sense of community across the multihull fleet Want to dive deeper into the boats, crews, and the history of Dazcats and multihulls in the Fastnet Race? For 25 years, the Disabled Sailor's Association boat, Spirit of Scott Bader, has opened the door to the sea for thousands of disabled children, adults, families and carers, offering freedom, confidence, teamwork and pure joy under sail to people of all abilities. This video shows what that looks like in real life: first smiles, spray on faces, wind in hair, and moments that stay with people forever. But after a quarter of a century of tireless service, working with charities and government organisations across the country as well as private individuals and groups, Spirit of Scott Bader is reaching the limits of the demands placed on her. To keep taking disabled sailors out on the water, and to reach even more people, DSA now needs support to build a new, purpose-designed, accessible boat. And they have chosen a Dazcat. We've put together this little video to try and show we why we believe it's important to support the DSA and all who they take sailing. There's a timelapse of the build so far. It's real, it's very tangible and it's quite a satisfying watch as the boat comes together. But that is nothing to the satisfaction you are sure to feel by offering your support and knowing that you really are helping to change lives. If you believe sailing should be for everyone, and that accessibility should be standard, not special, this is your moment to help shape the future. Your donation helps keep these life-changing experiences alive - today, tomorrow, and for the next generation. Visit the DSA website for details on how to support them: www.disabledsailing.org Many thanks to @ScottBaderOfficial and all the other donors for their huge generosity in helping to provide freedom on the water. Harken hears from Annika and Ian Thompson about sailing in the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Race and how their all-electric boat is sending a signal to the future of the sport to eliminate fossil fuels. For the fourth year in a row, Annika and Ian Thompson are taking on the Sydney Hobart on their TP52, Ocean Crusaders J-Bird. What sets them apart? Step below deck and you won’t find a drop of fuel—just fully electric power. Annika and Ian prove that performance and sustainability can sail the same course. Meet The Surgeonfish, a stunning resident of the reef with a hidden secret. These fish are named for the sharp, scalpel-like spines at the base of their tail that can be venomous and cause incredible pain. Interesting facts from our dive: Nature's Gardener: They are vital for the reef because they eat algae that can kill corals. A Large Family: There are about 80 different species of surgeonfish. Social Creatures: They can live alone, in small groups, or even in giant villages. Long-lived: Some species can live for more than 20 years in the open water. Hidden Weapons: Their spines are harmless when retracted but act like a scalpel when they scratch. Always keep a safe distance from these magnificent but dangerous fish! #TheSurgeonfish #surgeonfish #reeflife #underwater #oceanlife #dangerousfish #marinebiology #coralreef #diving #snorkeling #naturefacts #marinelife #wildlife #ocean #fish #shorts

A couple of explorers, modern-day documentarians, and cultivators of curiosity. We’ve been chasing our curiosity around the world on wheels and keels since 2011. Why? Because curiosity is the key to unlocking life. It pushes us outside our comfort zone, softens our assumptions, and helps us embrace the great unknown. The more we let our curiosity lead the way, the more we discover about ourselves and the world around us. Things We're Most Curious About... GETTING OFF-GRID Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. So self-reliance and sustainable living are a must. We've learned heaps about renewable energy, managing waste, creating safe drinking water and foraging for food. We carefully manage our resources and we’re always looking for new and better ways to do so. TALKING TO STRANGERS People are busy (even on remote islands) and travelers are a dime a dozen.

Day 39, Solo NonStop Circumnavigation: It rained all day, so I did a useless tack and sewed my sails. Casper didn’t help at all! It’s September 1st; 2025. We’re mid Atlantic, finally south of the ITCZ, heading towards the equator. 2,107 miles from the start (Grenada). 0 engine hours have been used since setting sail. WILL ANSWER ALL COMMENTS WHEN I HAVE SERVICE! ❤️ My name is Captain Kimmer. After tri-outs: sailing across the Atlantic without any navigation equipment, just my eyes and the stars, we’re on mission 1 of 3. A Solo NonStop Circumnavigation with a twist! I hope you enjoy the show. 🐶 ♋️ The Bravest Dog in the World Is About to Change It. Help Us Get There. I’m Captain Kimmer, Kimmer O’Reilly — sailor, survivor, and founder of a mission that shouldn’t be possible. Two-time blood cancer nearly took my life. When I survived, I expected joy. What came instead was an identity crisis. I didn’t know who I was anymore — just that the old me was gone. Then came Casper — my service dog, my best friend, my reason to fight forward. Now, Casper and I are doing something no one believes can be done: a nonstop solo circumnavigation of the globe… starting from the wrong side. We’re sailing east, into the wind and current, through the Southern Ocean and past the Cape of Good Hope — proving that after cancer, life isn’t over. It can be better than it ever was. But we’re not just breaking records. We’re launching a nonprofit to help cancer survivors rediscover purpose, identity, and joy. This GoFundMe isn’t just to keep our sails full. It’s to build something that lasts long after we return. Donate today — not just to help Casper and me sail around the world, but to help thousands of survivors believe they can start again. Let’s show the world what’s possible. 👉 https://bit.ly/BravestDogInTheWorld 🎼 🎵 MUSIC: 🎵 🎼 INTRO: Song: Chime & Nytrix - RunawayMusic provided by NoCopyrightSoundsFree Download/Stream: http://ncs.io/CN_Runaway OUTRO: Song: Coopex, KHEMIS - If Looks Can Kill [NCS Release] Music provided by NoCopyrightSounds Free Download/Stream: http://ncs.io/IfLooksCanKill Watch: http://NCS.lnk.to/IfLooksCanKillAT/youtube

We left Cagliari a sunny day and got a great sail to Porto Corallo on the east coast of Sardinia and we try to give you the same sunny laidback feeling with long 4k sailing clip where you hear the water sizzling around the hull and the subtle squeaking off the lines. We say Merry Christmas and happy new sailing year click subscribe to follow us along the way. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our sailboat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is sail the Mediterrainean Sea and really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 Find us on Noforeignland https://www.noforeignland.com/boat/fridaafwisby?sid=6095395836919808&tc=1713725044164

Will Oxley is a highly experienced and renowned ocean racing navigator and meteorologist. He will be the navigator, along with Chris Lord, on the 100 footer SHK Scallywag for the 2025 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. One of the most memorable of the many interviews we have held with Will over the years, was at the end of the 2019 Hobart Race when he was navigator aboard Matt Allen’s TP52 Ichi Ban. At the time, devastating bushfires were raging across Australia and the fire-driven pyrocumulus clouds were directly changing the race weather conditions along the NSW and Victorian coasts. We asked Will at the time how the pyrocumulus impacted the weather and, as always when talking to Will, he first went back to the general climate context to describe how that was changing the weather – and ergo changing the weather patterns of the Sydney Hobart race. Some six years later we were keen to understand how those patterns have evolved and changed in the time since. In this second part of our discussion with Will (who is also an experienced marine ecologist), he offers some extraordinary evidence of how the ongoing southward migration of warmer water is strengthening the Australian East Coast Current and dramatically changing the marine ecology of Tasmania’s coastal waters.

This time, the sea was kind to us! Ella and I sailed 180nm from Samaná, Dominican Republic to Grand Turk Island, Turks & Caicos, and this passage could not have been more different from the previous one: No waves. No squalls. Just steady 14–16 knots on the beam, full mainsail and Code 0, and Mirage gliding effortlessly across the ocean. The night sail was pure magic - full moon, calm seas, and that deep, quiet rhythm of perfect sailing. One of those moments that remind you why you go to sea in the first place. Daytime was just as beautiful: Sunbathing on deck Relaxed breakfast underway First glimpse of the iconic light-blue, crystal-clear waters of Turks & Caicos Most importantly - Ella truly enjoyed this sail. Smiles, calm seas, and that rare feeling when everything simply works. 🎶 Soundtrack: "Dreaming" by Camouflage sets the mood for the passage 🕺 And yes… stay until the end for a little afterparty with classic Italo Disco - because good sailing deserves good music. If you love night sailing, smooth passages, and tropical arrivals, this one is for you. Fair winds, Vlad & Ella ⛵ Mirage

Five years ago, we spent every dollar we had on a sailboat that wasn’t ready to go cruising — and somehow, that turned into the adventure of a lifetime. After a tense fuel scare and a 26-hour sail from Bimini to the Exumas, we’re finally settling into island life… but not without a few surprises. In this episode of Sailing Zola, we: ⛵ Navigate rough conditions in the Bahamas 🌊 Explore reefs, surf the dinghy, and find a private beach ❄️ Install and test the smartest DC-powered marine air conditioner on the market ☀️ Run air conditioning overnight entirely off solar and batteries 🦞 Dive for lobster and lionfish and cook an unreal dinner onboard This has been our goal since we bought this boat: staying cool at anchor without running a generator — and we finally made it happen. We’re Banner & Nellie, sailing full-time and sharing the highs, lows, and lessons of life on the water. The humorous metric that you should add a foot of boat length for every year that you get older seems to have escaped Victorian-turned-Tasmanian Chris Dare. Chris once owned the TP52 Audi Centre Sydney, but these days he can be seen at the helm of the GP42 Ambition. Chris bought the boat in March this year but has wasted no time at all in getting up to speed, training with his crew in testing Tasmanian conditions, as preparation for their race south. He had sworn off doing another Hobart after his 10th edition in 2009, but says that his son Lockie twisted his arm to give it another go. The team will be joined by talented up and coming navigator Clare Costanzo.

A week out from the Sydney Hobart start (when the forecast was for light airs) we spoke to the owner/kipper of the Marten 72 Aragon, Andries Verder. Andries enjoys combining family, Corinthian sailors and top professional sailors when he goes ocean racing. The list of the ‘600 milers’ (long ocean races of 600 or more nautical miles) that he and his crew have already competed in is remarkable; not the least of which was in winning the Transatlantic Race in 2016. So, unsurprisingly, the Sydney Hobart was on the list and for this race his professional crew include navigator Adrienne Cahalan and Volvo Ocean Racer Carolijn Brouwer.
