Our length of stay granted to us was at an end. We had to leave the USA and leave our Floridian friends and We feel that ACUTELY. We left with a crew of 3, me the beautiful Margarida and Tim the davit man. There was no weather window for us just the fact that there were no tropical waves or disturbances near and the boat had the minimum safe conditions to Sail us to Isla Mujeres, Mexico. A crossing that should have taken 4 days took us 8 long days instead and a broken motor. A shakedown cruise indeed! Sung like Buddy the Elf "I’m sailing, I’m in a boat, and I’m sailing!!!!!!!!" Sailor girl in a bikini is back at on the water sailing. After all the turmoil of engine issues and getting the boat pulled out to replace the seacock, we are back on the water and feel good about it! Previously, we had issues making any speed, we are talking under 1 knot with the engine and somehow it was also an issue under sail too, where we could make no more than 3.5 knots. So we take out sv Dodi, our trusty Island Packet sailboat, for a re- shakedown cruise. The intention is to rev the engine up and fill out the sails. As novice sailors we want to practice our skills and get comfortable with the boat. We practiced tacking with both the main sail and the head sail. We had a bit of an issues with the jibe on the first tack, but we figured it out. That is how you learn to sail. We have a great day of sailing, even though it is hotter than hot outside! In this video, we’re going to show you what it's like sailing the British Virgin Islands. We’ll show you Spanish Town on Virgin Gorda, the famous geological attraction called The Baths. We’ll then sail over to Leverick Bay to catch a pirate singing show and give you a tour of the Leverick Bay Resort and Marina. Britican’s Captain, Simon, will do a drive-by of Bitter End and Saba Rock - two massive sailor hang-outs that were destroyed in hurricanes. We’ll then sail down to Cooper Island to enjoy some raft fights and a drink at the Cooper Island Beach club. Next, we anchor off Salt Key to then take the dingy to the Rhone Shipwreck site followed by a calm sail to Norman Island where there’s rumored to be buried treasure on the island. From Norman Island, we sail over to Great Harbor on Jost Van Dyke to visit the famous Soggy Dollar and visit Roxy’s. Wow! What an experience! Humpback Whales migrate north along the Whitsunday Coast every year between June - September. Sometimes they come right up to a boat to have a good look and say hello to the humans! These guests on board one of our catamarans had an amazing experience in late July 2018 with a whale hanging around the boat for half an hour. At first it showed off with a few breaches and tail slaps, and then it came right up to the boat, spy hopping to get a good look at the people on board. How magical! Surely an experience you would never forget

How do we look beyond the familiar when it comes to beef tartar, a dish we all know and love? It’s simple, really: you give it a Frankfurt twist. Lots of SMOKE and almost TV FIRE onboard!! Shore power failure. Accidental wrong voltage and my Tv on fire: By mistake I got over 400 volts in on my shore power and my TV got fried and sent smoke signals to me. Check out this scary video of how close I got to loose my boat and my home because of faulty electricity from shore. The dangerous toxic smoke from fried TV in electrical fire is very unhealthy. This whole situation could have turned into a boat nightmare if I had not been there or if I was sleeping. Double voltage fried everything. This can happen with wrong voltage. electrical fire on sailboat. I also put the name on Mermaid after giving up on sailing due to bad weather. And I get a surprise! Back in our homeport of Racine, we start tackling the long list of projects we want to finish before leaving for our journey down “The Ditch.” Kirk researches the heck out of LED bulbs. He determines the warm Kakanuo bulb https://amzn.to/2JX40fS to be the best option — based on color cast, energy consumption and brightness level — to replace all of our energy-sucking tungsten lights throughout the boat. And then, the dinghy motor. Our friends in Charlevoix so kindly gave us their old dinghy and a Nissan 2.5hp outboard, with a couple catches: the dinghy oarlocks were falling off, and the outboard didn’t start. Kirk glued the oarlocks back on in Charlevoix, but the motor still needed attention. He tackles it in this episode, starting off with a fresh tank of gasoline, then a new spark plug, and when it still doesn’t start he decided to take apart and clean the carburetor. Once he gets it running, we go for an afternoon cruise on the Root River. We explore more of the Exumas here in the Bahamas and a lot happened in a short amount of time. Because Jessica is pregnant we have a time limit on how long we can stay in the Bahamas. We moseyed on down to the mile long sand bar near Big Farmers Cay and enjoyed our own private anchorage and beach. Had the mile long sandbar to ourselves for a little bit. We found Rachel's Bubble bath on accident and had a very gnarly electrical storm wake us up at 4am in the morning. Never a dull moment sailing in the Bahamas thats for sure! Arriving to remote island communities after 6 days at sea, we settle into island life and play with Manta Rays! https://www.sailingnandji.com In this Episode of Sailing Nandji, after a slow 6 day passage at sea, we arrive to the remote Papua New Guinea group of islands called the Hermit Islands. We spend hours diving and exploring what is below the surface and see lots of marine life. Plenty of sharks and we play with some Manta Rays. We catch plenty of fish and help out the local village residents where we can then head back to sea on an overnight passage to the next chain of islands 80nm away. Arriving to the Ninigo Islands, we are greeted by Oscar and his 12m sailing canoe. He invites us for a sail and off we go sailing a little different than normal!! We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We just arrived to Indonesia after cruising the Pacific islands. We departed Australia 12 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of no where, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it!
