Es geht in die zweite Runde! Unsere Zeit auf Curacao geht weiter mit einer ausgedehnten Islandtour über die komplette Insel, wo wir echt viel gesehen haben. Wir konnten uns einen wirklich guten Eindruck der Insel verschaffen und wir müssen sagen: Es ist mal etwas anderes nach den ganzen Dschungel-Inseln der Ostkaribik. Começo a construção da roda de leme. Tenho que fabricar as cupilhas de cedro rosa para tapar os buracos do deck. Cupilhas são pedaços de madeira que escondem o buraco do parafuso que fixou o deck. Foi difícil encontrar no mercado cupilhas de cedro rosa, portanto tive que fabricar. E construo o paiol de gás. Vou ter 2 bujões de gás de 5kg a bordo.

4th Of July Fireworks display videoed with the Phantom 3 Drone. At 30 seconds in you can see first hand a mortar exploding feet away from the drone. Sound was later painstakingly dubbed over for what i think is the most important aspect of a fireworks display. There are far more amazing professional displays filmed with drones on Youtube, but without any sound. And a fireworks show without sound is really only half a show. This is a smaller fireworks display, but the addition of sound effects makes all the difference in the world. I hope you enjoyed it, and god Bless America !!!

At the recent Versilia Yacht Show in Italy I stopped in my tracks when I saw ISA's latest launch; a 76' composite yacht that is quite different to anything else on the market. ISA have built their reputation on the construction of far larger yachts than this, and usually built from steel and aluminium, so this is quite a departure for them. Personally I believe there is a strong market for this kind of product though, and I hope it will be very successful for them. After the final briefing for the Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race we caught up with Stan Honey, navigator on Jim Cooney’s Comanche to discuss the race weather forecast and what Comanche will be up to in the lead-up to this years Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

3rd act of the 2018 Races Championship

The 2018 Channel Race proved to be the windiest race of the RORC Season's Points Championship to date, with competitors reporting gusts of up to 40 knots and a short sharp sea state for the blast to Beachy Head and back to the Solent. Effectively a 150 nautical mile windward leeward course, only three yachts retired with minor gear failure and all of the teams have returned safely to shore. ”We hit a top speed of 23.8 knots on the run down to Beachy Head, and the beat back was really heavy going." There are 5 "Super-Maxis" racing in the world and 4 are in Australia competing in the 2018 Noakes Sydney-Gold Coast Yacht Race. The other is in Hong Kong and the Skipper David Witt after newly finishing the 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race is in Sydney overseeing the delivery from there to his working base in the Phillipines of his newly purchased 60 Foot racing trimaran "Team Australia" from Sean Langman. We joined David at the CYCA and went with him on his RIB to watch the start of the Nakes Sydne-Gold Coastr Race where his 4 opposition maxis were competing. This was good for him as he could watch and asses the yachts who are his competitiuon in the forthcoming SOLAS Big Boat and Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Races. We had the opportunity to chat with him on his current and future plans for the Scallywag team boats. Also he commentates on the yachts as they start the race out of Sydney Harbour. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have one of the world's top Maxi Skippers describe his competitors reading their instruments in a race and describe what is happening. Four supermaxis and a fleet of TP52s was enough encouragement for Bow Caddy Media to get up in the air to catch the start of the Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race. With an AP declared, the Bow Caddy team waited patiently at the airport as the minutes ticked down to the cut off for our chopper hire. Remarkably, close to the last minute, the north-east wind came in, the AP was lowered and the Bow Caddy Team flew straight to the Harbour for some exciting footage.
