Benim en heyecanla beklediğim an boğaza giriş tek başıma boğazdan yelkenle süzülmemdi. Hayatımın en en en özel deneyimlerimi yaşadığımı söyleyebilirim. İstanbul Boğazı'na giriş aşırı stresli oldu. Boğaz girişine yaklaşırken bir anda rüzgar kesildi ve planladığımın aksine kendimi Anadolu yakasında buldum. Sabaha kadar gemilerin arasında, akıntı ile sürüklenerek boğazı geçtim. Ufak bir dinlenmeye fırsat kalmadan Marmara'da rüzgar arttı. Ege'deki sert havaya biraz daha geç çıkmak için oyalanmama rağmen gece yarısını biraz geçe Çanakkale Boğazı'nın girişindeydim. Fişek gibi de aşağıya indim. Sabah erkenden boğazdan çıkmıştım. İstanbul Boğazı'na girişimle Çanakkale'den çıkışım arasında 36 saat var. Maaşallah.

Orpheus Island has always felt a little out of reach – a tiny slice of paradise with a price tag of $2395 a night! But on this trip, we were lucky enough to tie up to a free mooring buoy and soak in the magic without the luxury bill. From secluded beaches and a peaceful bush walk to a lookout with breathtaking views, to ending the day with freshly caught fish cooked aboard ARGO – it all felt like such a treat. We were especially excited to visit the Giant Clam Garden, though what we found left us deeply saddened after the events earlier this year. Still, this beautiful island gave us a moment to pause, reflect, and appreciate the journey so far. This was our stepping-stone before heading out to the reef – and we’re so glad we finally made it. We reached back and forth and then headed into the sunset. However, at the last minute, we were robbed by the encroaching clouds. We still enjoyed the sail and arrive back in our slip after dark. What started as a normal sail from Georgetown to Long Island, quickly turned into one of the scariest moments of our journey. Just after we arrived and dropped anchor, Brent fell from the boom—nearly a 10-foot drop. His dad saw the fall from the flybridge and thought he might land on his feet, but he didn’t. I ran upstairs to find Brent laid out on his back, pale and in pain. He couldn’t move without hurting, and we feared the worst: a broken back. Thankfully, he was able to move a little, but he couldn’t put weight on his foot. With no urgent care option, we consulted with our doctor back home, who guided us until we could find help. The next morning, the island clinic informed us there was no x-ray machine anywhere nearby and suggested flying to Nassau. Instead, we sailed back to Georgetown where we knew x-rays were available. The results: multiple fractures in Brent’s foot. The orthopedic specialist later confirmed most were old injuries, with just one serious new break. No surgery needed—thankfully—but he’ll be in a walking cast for six weeks before easing back onto his feet. While Brent flew to Gainesville for treatment, I stayed in Georgetown with the kids and their grandparents aboard SeaDog. We spent a few extra days there, said our goodbyes to Brent's parents, and then set sail with friends toward the remote Ragged Islands in the southwestern Bahamas. With 16–20 knots of wind pushing us along at 7–8 knots (even hitting 8.8!), we made the trip in great conditions. Brent was on crutches, Wes was happy with his Nintendo Switch, and the rest of us enjoyed the ride. The next couple days, we explored Flamingo Cay, swimming through the salt pond and its famous dinghy cave—an unforgettable adventure after such a stressful week. After weeks of sanding and fairing (the least glamorous part of boatbuilding), we finally get to do something exciting — bringing the bows of our catamaran together! The longeron and forebeam are two critical pieces that tie the front of the boat into shape. Over the past few weeks, Matt has been making careful adjustments so we can get them fitted just right. It’s a big project — and one we need to finish before the weather turns cold, since bonding them into place will require methacrylate. Before we can even think about that final step, there’s a lot of trial fitting, trimming, and tweaking to get everything to sit where it belongs. We’re also working in custom details, like the section for our anchor roller. We’re getting so close to locking in their final placement — and once that happens, all the aluminum pieces can head out for anodizing. We flew the spinnaker, met stingrays face to face, and even found starfish creeping along the sand.
