Our first time throwing our spinnaker, we don't know whether it is asymmetrical or symmetrical, there is only one way to find out. So up she goes. We're learning by doing and we are doing what we can, how not to throw a spinnaker. We leave Brisbane, it's a stellar day out on Moreton Bay, Slim is duck taping the dodger and trying to catch a fish. We are heading to Tangalooma on Moreton Island for the night, diving the wrecks when we drop anchor and get followed by hungry fish looking for bread. We cant stay for long, we're on a mission. We head to Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast the following morning. A ships wake absolutely drenches our bed as we left the hatch open and see the day as a good opportunity to fly the spinnaker, well at least now we know what spinnaker we are working with. Thinking of getting some camera gear? This is what we use and would highly recommend these products. If you purchase through these links we will get a small commission which really helps us to keep creating more content like this. This Sunday micro-adventure is a 20 km hike around four small cities, intending to meet nobody, to disappear entirely for the other people. It has been a small failure and great fun at the same time! And, as you know, failures sometimes have a more substantial impact than easy success. At least two substantial ideas are hidden in the clip, worth it to be understood and applied ;) Enjoy, and have a fruitful week! BALANCE ATHLETICS

Bvs

What will we find on our first week back on board Seagull after six months of lockdown? We are worried about mould, breakages, and things not working. This episode starts with a boat clean, the sails go on and I head up the mast to thread a new halyard. We hope to be out sailing soon. Our plan is to sail around the Western Island of Scotland this season and visit some friends in the process. To begin the search for our next cruising sailboat we self survey an Endeavour 40. The good news is that it's received nearly 100k worth of upgrades, but the bad news is that it still needs a tremendous amount of work. Could this be our next cruising sailboat? ~ Ben, Tambi, & Molly | "SAILBOATSTORY" IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO OUR SUPPORTERS & FANS: Hi, Ben here. I have a message for you that feels strange to communicate, but as a fan/viewer/supporter of our channel I feel indebted to share it with you. Here's what's happening: Our channel is funded primarily by fans who choose to support us by becoming "Patrons" through a website called Patreon.com. That funding has been falling gradually for the last 3-4 years, but over the last year, in particular, things have really taken a nose-dive. Perhaps it's Covid related as the exit-surveys suggest, or maybe part of it was that folks just didn't care for the RV travel videos. Either way, trust me, I empathize. Regardless of the reason though, we've reached a point with our earnings that something has to change. It really comes down to either needing to boost our Patreon earnings to where we've been trying to get to for the last 5 years, or perhaps it's just time for us to experience the sailing lifestyle without video cameras rolling. Our preference would unequivocally be to continue filming, but like many things in life, it often boils down to dollars and cents. To our current and past Patrons, I want you to know that we're incredibly thankful for your help. I'm still in awe of your generosity. To consciously part with a portion of your hard-earned money and send it to a family of "strangers" on the internet is something that still feels very foreign to me. Regardless of this, I'm deeply thankful for your support because without it, we wouldn't have this PRICELESS video record of our family's travels. To those that have stuck with us since the beginning... wow... you guys have been absolutely tremendous. To those who supported us for a little while and had to take off for one reason or another... we're still extraordinarily grateful for helping us out while you were able to. I have a feeling of obligation to our supporters to provide them with the videos they have "invested in". It's a sense of responsibility that I have, and I don't take that lightly - and that feeling is a large part of what's driving me to openly communicate the goal we hope to reach. The goal that we would like to reach on Patreon is $500 per video that we produce. If you take a look at our Patreon page, you'll see that we're currently at $281 right now - just a hair over halfway to our goal. We've got a ways to go, but the interesting thing is that if only 1% of our audience were to enroll right now, we would reach the goal before you finish this paragraph. We're not asking for anyone to buy us a boat or to fund our travels, instead we're simply trying to cover the expenses that go into producing these videos, and beyond that, it would be amazing to be able to put a few dollars towards upgrading camera equipment or boat expenses along the way. We feel like our $500 goal is a very modest and reasonable one, but for nearly 5 years it's eluded us. Perhaps part of the reason we've never reached this goal is because we've never actively communicated it. Well, we're changing that now, because well.. we have to! Hopefully sharing openly with you guys what we are trying to accomplish will produce better results than what we've typically done in the past, which has pretty much been just to silently grind onwards and hope. In an active effort to reach our goal we are making some big changes on our end to help add additional value and incentives for our Patrons and to encourage new sign-ups. For example, Patrons will have the option to watch completely ad-free on Vimeo as an exclusive perk. Up to this point we haven't done "rewards" at all, but we're changing things and making a big effort to show our supporters that we really appreciate them. Right now we're committed to giving this our best shot for a couple months of filming and see how things go. We're optimistic that we'll be able to reach our goal and continue forward with renewed energy and support. When we reach our goal we'll celebrate with our supporters in some kind of goofy "Sailboat Story" way - and of course, the videos will happily continue. We sincerely hope that, with your help, we can reach this goal and continue creating the sailing videos you enjoy. Please help us continue producing videos by becoming a Patron today. ▶▶▶ https://patreon.com/sailboatstory [ SUPPORT THE CHANNEL ] https://patreon.com/sailboatstory | Help us keep the cameras rolling! https://paypal.me/sailboatstory | Make a donation and help upgrade our camera gear!

What happens after the TV cameras go off and the last champagne is sipped from the Cup? We’re left to wonder. It just ends too abruptly. Are AC75s on ships right now headed back to Challenger bases? What happens to those super-fast team rescue boats? Who moves into the team bases? We’re Cup fans. We want to know! There may be nobody on Earth better to ask about this than Terry Hutchinson, Skipper and Executive Director of American Magic. Terry was kind enough to answer lots of these pressing questions one-on-one with us. This one's a bit overdue, but similar to Episode 2, here's a transition from Winter to Spring at the marina, courtesy of the webcam. It's really quite peaceful to watch the seasons change - the docks and islands stay the same, while the snow and ice eventually recede, leaving the ramp, roof, and docks bare. And finally, a couple of boats in the water and at their docks. While COVID restrictions have certainly delayed Spring Launch by weeks, it doesn't mean that the season is ruined! Even a shorter season is better than no season at all! Thanks as always to The Landing at Ivy Lea - http://www.thelandingivylea.com/ Enjoy!

Hi Guys, I bought a new narrowboat - a 57ft cruiser stern reverse layout. This vlog shows the tour of the boat and what I plan to do with it. Hope you enjoy. Kayleigh I'm Kayleigh and along with my two dogs Hugo and Coco we will full time on board our 37ft narrowboat Grayswood. After living nearly two years in our self-converted campervan we decided we needed more space. So we decided to purchase a boat after spending some time on our friend’s narrowboat. Grayswood was conveniently located less that 5 minutes from my work and was found kind of by accident. I was visiting a friend who was staying in Aston Marina and whilst we were out walking the dogs, I seen the advert for Grayswood. I said to my friend “that looks a nice boat” and as I said it the marina manager appeared and asked if we would like a look inside. Naturally we did. After looking inside the boat, we made an offer after going back for a second viewing, after some negotiations within a week she was ours pending a survey. She was hauled out the following week and the survey went well. We kept her out on the hard standing for a further six weeks whilst we renovated the insides including fitting a new kitchen and bathroom. Subscribe and welcome aboard - follow us on our narrowboat journey, where I will show what its really like living and navigating the English waterways as a solo female. New video released every Monday. Instagram - @liveaboard_lifestyle

After many weeks on Rangiroa it is finally time for us to sail on. The alternator and a new diode are installed again and Trampi is ready to go. With one laughing and one teary eye we leave Rangiroa and set sail for Tikehau. Whether it's just because we haven't been out on the big ocean for so long or the conditions were really just perfect, this sailing trip should be one of the best in a long time. The wind and the wave play along and bring us quickly but stress-free to the next atoll of the Tuamotus, Tikehau. Only with the fishing it should not work out once again... I'd get my excuses in early if I could, but I don't have any because this feature doesn't seek to explain the differences and similarities between sailing and flying. It doesn't, (for once), make reference to the America's Cup. Instead, I just went flying with a friend in an impressive, state of the art, two seater...and what a machine.

What is the Cruising Meraki Project? The "Project" began back in 2018 when we first decided to start working towards a goal of sailing the world as 3 generations. The term "Project" is fitting for us as we are working together collaboratively to achieve a common goal. meraki [mer-ah-kee] (verb) This is a word that modern Greeks often use to describe doing something with soul, creativity, or love - when you put "something of yourself" into what you're doing, whatever it may be. This week we continue to explore the archipelago Bocas del toro, we take our tender into the mangroves in the search of the famous sloth. We've been on the island for approximately three weeks without seeing the little creature, I am beginning to wonder if they even exist. Kieran takes on the job as being my personal gondolier, he sings me a song as he paddles deeper into the mangrove jungle. We see a snake lying in the sun and Kieran (from Australia) can't get away from it quicker... A family of monkeys surrounds us as we paddle further in and a little baby monkey wants to get a closer look at us. Paddling out we spot him! A sloth!! He starts to climb closer and closer to us and finally one meter away he reached out his hand as if to say "I wanna join you Sailing Merewether" (or something to that effect). I could not be happier!!! On a sad note, we say Goodbye to our close friends SV Wildthing 3 and Macushla as they leave for the canal. It's not easy, we've been sailing with our New Zealand family ever since Gibraltar and have been to over 10 countries together. We end our week with our favourite activity (when we're not sailing) SURFING! Join our crew! We are looking for new crew to join in the future journey. After Adam was less than impressed with the amount of weather helm that our boat was putting out on our recent sail from Ice Fourchue, we decide to make the most of a sunny day in Grand Case, St Martin to retune our rig and ease some of the pressure. After a successful morning we took her out for a test sail a few bays down to Marigot where we noticed a quirk with our steering but that we had significantly improved the amount of weather helm on the boat. Will I ever manage to get a Berth in the Marina to start the refitting? It has been my last week of waiting and who would know getting a space in a marina for a week would take so much effort. The refitting of my rig is supposed to start Tuesday but the service pier was too shallow. So I need a Berth in the busy marina here. Martinique is really showing they wanna do something with all the boat wrecks here and take care of their island, and Hanna let me borrow her car again. I did not have much to do so I wanted to give her car some TLC. Can't wait to get out sailing again but first refitting has to be done. Thank you for watching and hope you enjoy this video! You can also follow sailing with Thomas on other platforms for almost daily updated pics and videos: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sailingwiththomas Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sailingwiththomas T-Shirts and stuff: https://sailingwiththomascom.wpcomstaging.com/shop/#!/ ABOUT THIS CHANNEL: I'm trying to sail solo around the world in my Bavaria 55 Cruiser, making videos whenever I have time for it. Most of the time I sail singlehanded but occasionally I do have sailing friends onboard. Still in the Caribbean due to Covid and was supposed to be in Asia by now. Even though this is season 3 on youtube I have already sailed 4 seasons full time but did not make that many videos in the beginning. Before full-time sailing, I have sailed several seasons in the Med prior to this, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I have been traveling the world before and also been an active regatta sailor. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and been sailing ever since. PLEASE BE KIND IN THE COMMENTS! I'm just a normal person sharing my travel adventure through my eyes and experience from my perspective! Remember how I do things might work for me but not for you. It might even not be the correct way to do things, and I don't have the blueprint either. I'm not perfect and nobody is. The day I believe I know it all and don't think I can learn new things I should go ashore.

We hope you're ready for the second installment of this episode (remember, there's no additional charge on this!!) as we get busy once again with unidirectional fiberglass. After the mess we got ourselves into last time - now we're armed with a bit more knowledge. As well as plastic cable covers, which are going to make our lives much easier. Since the unidirectional alone isn't going to be enough to fill these areas though, once it is cured we also hit it with a mix of resin, cotton flock; silica; and 1/4" chop strand fiberglass. All that's left to do now is bond the deck to the hulls so we can get these bad boys in place! We hope you enjoy! Much love from Annapolis! We are free... Sailing the beautiful Mediterranean Sea! After weeks of work and turmoil we finally drop our lines, lose sight of land and sail our way across to Melilla, in Morocco. About a third of the way across as night fell, we become aware of a very fast moving boat, which is following us! It kept approaching and backing off, finally after passing beyond the shipping channel and away from any radio contact we were approached at speed. The unmarked vessel with a huge search light circled in front of us came around the back and was approaching us from behind... We were getting more and more concerned, especially with our children on board, so as they crossed in front of us, about a quarter of a mile off we took the tough decision to go completely stealth. We turned off all lights, including all our nav lights, and turned our AIS off so we wasn't trackable. It was a tense few hours and the vessel shone its light around in our rough direction, but thankfully didn't find us! It's amazing how big the sea is and how hard it is to find another vessel in complete darkness... thank god for the cloudy moonless sky! After quite a while they gave up and went off and as we approached another large ship, which we could also radio if necessary, we put our nav lights back on and as the daylight broke we put our AIS transponder back on too. We are safe and well, just possibly a little nervous to make the return journey! Join us next episode as we explore the beautiful and unique Melilla.
