This nine mile stretch of water means sailors can avoid the arduous passage around the Mull of Kintyre to enter the Clyde Estuary. In search of more shelter and warmer weather we point Seagull south and make passages whilst dodging the storms. After 3 weeks in Ullapool avoiding strong wind warnings and lumpy seas, we finally get a weather window and make a bid for freedom. The only downsides are it is an overnight passage and tight in time before the next storm comes in. Keep watching to fond out how this journey with three tidal gates goes.
