In this episode we enjoy more time with our friends from SY Yumyum and get our promised reward for the hike on Bora Bora. Unfortunately we all realize that this is one of the last days we will see each other in this constellation. Mario finishes the anchor light project with his ESP Microcontroller via Telegram and after the weather finally improves, we set off to discover more of Tahaa. Boatlife, fixing things in paradise! Whatever can break, will break! After we hiked up last episode the spectacular Mount Pahia, it's time to leave Bora Bora and sail back to Tahaa, where we will meet again with our friends of SY Yumyum. They promised us to make a special dinner for hiking up and we hope to get our well deserved dinner! Next morning we want to fix a small rip in our Genoa and while dropping the sail, somethings breaks. Of course, we have no spare part and we can't get the sail up again. Nice start in the day, but luckily we have our floating spare part buddy boat next to us! If you like this video, please give us a thumb up and leave a comment. It helps the YT algorithms. After all the relaxation in the last days and weeks, it's time to do something completely crazy! Our destination for today is 622m above sea level, Mount Pahia on Bora Bora! For months we have been relaxing on the Tuamotus and hardly moved, but animated by the promise of a delicious dinner on SY Yumyum, we set out to enjoy the incredible view from the second highest mountain on Bora Bora. For experienced climbers certainly a piece of cake, for us an absolute challenge. The first 2 hours there is no real path, when the markings start we are not sure if we really want it. On ropes we pull ourselves up to the summit, just in time the clouds come and the visibility gets worse and worse, but we enjoy the feeling of happiness to have arrived at the top! What a view! Welcome to Bora Bora! After 4 weeks we finally made it to the South Seas Paradise. Together with our friends Yumyum we make our way to the southeast of Bora Bora, not quite an easy ride. Mostly it is only 2,50m deep with some coral heads, which is a challenge with a draft of 2,10m. The first time I still stand in front and look if everything fits, until we decide to send the drone in the air and look with it. What a fantastic view! Together with Christian and Fay from SY Zero we rent a scooter and explore the island. There really isn't much to see, but it's still fun. After spending a few nice days on Huahine last week, we are heading further west and will make a stop on Tahaa. The west side turns out to be a real idyll and we see clownfish for the first time in Polynesia! A short time later we continue to Raitea, the island lies directly south of Tahaa more or less in the same lagoon. We have great hope that we get our 2nd vaccination there and do not have to go back to Tahiti and then finally can leave for Bora Bora! Will our plan work? Bora Bora! Wait, that's not Bora Bora?! Last week we set sail to sail over to Bora Bora, but the wind dropped just after sunset, Mario changed course and we make a stop in Huahine. Together with Mirko and Sophia we hang out on the beach and have a great time with Siki, the local who watches the beach every day. He has fun teaching us how to make local food and jewelry. Welcome back in Tahiti! After we explored last time the wonderful island Makatea, we made our way down to Tahiti to go shopping, spent some quality time ashore and get our first Covid shot. Now we have 4 weeks time before the 2nd dose and we don't want to be stuck in Tahiti. Together with our friends Mirko and Sophia from Sailing Yumyum we decided to use the time and sail over to Bora Bora! But, no matter what you plan, it always comes different... After 6 months on the paradisiacal atolls of the Tuamotus, French Polynesia, we are heading towards Tahiti. However, there is still one island that interests us insanely. Makatea. Millions of years ago also an atoll, the island was pushed up and today impresses with spectacular natural paradise. Surrounded by white cliffs and breathtaking beauty, inland like a moonscape, the island was already abandoned in the 60s. Formerly a vibrant working island, specializing in the mining of phospate, the island was cleared for planned nuclear testing and left to its own devices. Parts of the machines and tools can still be found today and are being reclaimed by nature. Today, attempts are being made to make the island an ecotourism destination and to use the beautiful cliffs for rock climbing. Again and again the talks start to restart the phospate mining, but thank God the little paradise in the middle of the South Seas so far successfully resists. Tikehau, South Seas beaches as you would imagine them! A real dream. After leaving Rangiroa last week after a wonderful time, it is time for a short stopover on the neighbouring atoll of Tikehau. Known for its countless manta rays, which we unfortunately did not find. We had planned a 3-day stop, but the wind forecast changes and we are stuck here for over a week. Is that bad? No, of course not! We use the time for extensive days on the small islands and enjoy the sweet idleness, as we want to make our way to Tahiti shortly and thus leave the Tuamotus archipelago after 6 months... After many weeks on Rangiroa it is finally time for us to sail on. The alternator and a new diode are installed again and Trampi is ready to go. With one laughing and one teary eye we leave Rangiroa and set sail for Tikehau. Whether it's just because we haven't been out on the big ocean for so long or the conditions were really just perfect, this sailing trip should be one of the best in a long time. The wind and the wave play along and bring us quickly but stress-free to the next atoll of the Tuamotus, Tikehau. Only with the fishing it should not work out once again... After we still hang around in Rangiroa, the possibility arises for us that Mario can sail with another boat to Tahiti that he can take care of our alternator problem and some other stuff. While Mario sails to Tahiti, I stay on the boat and enjoy the peace and silence. Normally we are 24/7 together and in the first few nights it feels strange to be alone. Besides reading a lot, I do my diving license and get to dive with dolphins. Mario works diligently through his to-do list and tries his luck at a dentist before returning to Trampi by plane. We make our way back to the west pass of Rangiroa. The promised wind does not show up, but we are accompanied by dolphins. Back at the east pass we briefly explain why we are still stuck in Rangiroa, start to work off our betting debts and spend time in the aquarium, including a fish on Mario's finger. After a relaxing time off Rangiroa town we set the gennaker and head to the Blue Lagoon. Our project for today will be to show you the steps needed to make your own coconut milk. Sure, we could just open a can, but that would only be half the fun. On the small excursion island we seem to be the most entertainment and everyone is very eager to help us with our project. Polynesian warmth as we enjoy it since the first day in the country! If you like this video, please give us a thumb up and leave a comment. It helps the YT algorithms. Time for some more underwater fun in Rangiroa! Join us for some shark feeding on the beach from the local fisherman including an explanation what they are doing, a short swim with dolphins and I eat a tasty fresh oyster I found while snorkeling! Rangiroa is the second largest atoll of the world and the biggest of French Polynesia. There is not a lot to do, but still you can spent weeks here without getting bored! After stopping at Toau's False Pass, we go ashore to pay for the buoy and look around a bit on the moto. The mountains of garbage are once again extremely dissapointing. We leave westwards for Rangiroa, the second largest atoll in the world and are greeted again by our bird friends and explore the local underwater world. Toau, one of the worst pass entries for us as we showed in the last video, turns out to be a beautiful, uninhabited place in Paradise. We enjoy a few lonely days, relax and explore the underwater world and then we have to get out again! Where we went in, it goes out again, we are sure, nevertheless, the nerves are really tense early in the morning. The timing should fit this time perfect and yet the waves already look scry again. This time I don't dare to go forward with the camera, but enjoy the safety of the cockpit while Mario brings us out. Actually, we wanted to continue to Apataki, but the wind is probably still asleep. So let's hoist the gennaker and make a new plan! If you like this video, please give us a thumb up and leave a comment. It helps the YT algorithms. In this episode, we leave Fakarava and head to the next atoll, Toua. It's only a short trip of 15 miles, but entering the pass turns into uncomfortable riding through the waves. While I'm still filming the dolphins in front the fun starts, I almost go overboard, but finally we arrive safely at our anchorage. Totally done from the crossing I don't want to do much more, but the next day the sun shines again and everything is forgotten. Mario cooks us homemade spaetzle for the first time and can't get enough of it - thanks to Mirko from SY Yumyum for this awesome recipe.
