We sailed from Hönö (Sweden) to Anholt (Denmark) with Windfinder, our Hallberg-Rassy 43. We sailed 72 NM in less then 10 hours.
The day finally arrived for the haul out and the JCI Inspection which I need to go further offshore. Hey and welcome back! In this video, we have a serious deja vu as we haul out again for a second time in 4 months. After experiencing some damage to our hull, we have no choice but to lift the boat out again to get it fixed. We make the most of it to get on with some other big jobs that are easier to do in the boatyard like finishing painting all our exterior brightwork. We have an unpleasant surprise - we lose our solar panels and have to rebuild our solar energy set up entirely. We get through it all after 5 weeks on the hard again and look forward to setting sail again and visiting new places. Thanks for watching! Time to install our Aux switches in the dash of our Jeep and not hanging at our feet. After the install of AC in our Jeep wrangler, there is limited space under the dash, but really not hard to install the switches in the dash. We also have to repair some cracks in our dash caused by an accident and the previous owners. J-B Weld: https://amzn.to/2WxHhmM The wiring of the switch is much more complex than what was shown in this video. Here we focus more on a great place to mount AUX switches in a Jeep YJ. This video is a small part of a larger Jeep rewire project. We thought this would be great to share as we continue to edit the more complete content. The reason for this part of the project was the switches, due to the install of the AC, where hanging below the dash. We think that the dash looks so much better and how they should have been installed in the first place. These switches are wired to relays with bus bars and more complex systems to come soon. 00:00 How To Install Aux Switches In-Dash 01:50 How To Remove Jeep YJ Dash 03:00 How To Repair Dash With JB Weld 03:18 How To Use JB Weld 05:28 How To Install AUX Switch In Jeep YJ Dash 06:01 How To Install Jeep YJ Dash 07:38 Test AUX Switch On Light Bar And Fog Lights 08:48 Our Final Thoughts Of Switch Install In Dash 12:27 How To Install Aux Switches In-Dash Outtakes Tools We Love: Milwaukee 18-Volt Drill and Impact Driver Kit: https://amzn.to/366BwxM Husky Mechanics Tool Set: https://amzn.to/3kuGUzD Angle Grinder https://amzn.to/36FaC09 Forney Easy Weld Welder https://amzn.to/3romDR1 Welding Helmet https://amzn.to/3wOq58z You can also follow us on our blog: https://www.chrisdoeswhat.com/subscribe/ Or go directly to cooking: https://www.dininginwithdanielle.com Support us by shopping through our Affiliate Links! Julie, a CSSC taster guest, joined five members for a sail on our keelboats - two Squibs and a Soling. Having been greeted and briefed and issued with a buoyancy aid, it was down to the pontoon to meet RCSSC members. In the morning she sailed with Dave Grundy on a Squib in a moderate breeze, cloudy but dry conditions. She was soon setting the jib, pulling on jib sheets and finding the wind. Time to go on the helm Julie and she managed just fine, pleasantly surprised how manoeuvrable the Squib is and, with a good breeze, how Satyr quick picked up speed. A short lunch break and all change, joining John and Eric on Soling: Time Flies. The wind picked up at time and she was motoring along. Meanwhile Pete was with Dave on Squib: Satyr and Tony and Christine were enjoying their sail on Squib: Lift Off. This short video, pardon the pun, give you a taster of Julie's 'taster sail'. Welcome Aboard Julie - you did your self proud. Smiles all round at the end of the day and of course, we met up on the veranda to view the lake and reflect on a perfect days sailing.

So if you watched last weeks episode you will know that we made the river Crouch our first port of call as the weather forecast didn't look to clever. And we were right, it was intermittent miserable with short periods of hopeful. So this week, rather than head out to sea we head further up river, to Fambridge marina and make our own entertainment. We make these films just for fun, and we hope that you have enjoyed watching them however we have been asked on a couple of occasions now if we have a Patreon account. We don’t want to do that at this stage as we feel it would turn the channel into a business, and as we said at the beginning, this is all just for fun. However if you would like to support us and feel you could help contribute to the cost of making these films then you can do that via our PayPal account here. A big thank you to everyone that has already done this, its a great help. https://www.paypal.me/TheFoxwellFamily And a big thank you to everyone that has supported us so far, its very much appreciated. Description Nutshell gets hauled out of the water and is given a good clean. It’s time to dig deep to find our painting supplies in the starboard aft cabin, ‘the shed’. Magnus goes about checking the through hull and finds that the one in the gallery has corroded away and is only begin attached to Nutshell by sikaflex! Scary stuff. So, that means that it was like that for our Pacific crossing! Our new sails arrive! Thanks for watching. Diving with these magnificent creatures is possibly the highlight of all our lives! In far north Great Barrier Reef you will find, the famous Ribbon Reefs, and on those reefs a Bommie called Lighthouse... Nothing special, nothing out of the ordinary for the Great Barrier Reef, except for the fact that once a year for 6-8 weeks Dwarf Minke Whales 🐋 Until recently they were thought to be a subspecies of minke whales, but now DNA 🧬 testing has shown us that they are in fact a completely individual species all their own. Very little is known about these otherwise solitary whales, who ordinarily roam the oceans as far south as Antarctica. And since no one's ever witnessed them mating or giving birth, it remains a mystery as to why they come to this very spot. One thing that we known is this. They LOVE humans and are incredibly smart, so much so that they crave our attention. So when we arrived to this site, after a full day of playing with them, while making dinner with no one in the water, the Dwarf Minkes showed up to the boat and started splashing to get our attention, until we got in the water! Think about that for just a moment. An animal so smart that it sees a boat and knows humans are on board. And then splashes around to get our attention. Best day EVER! Sailing our small boat around Indonesia has been a real adventure, not knowing what's going to happen most days. This video is not about one adventure in particular, more of a round-up for a few different ones. Sailing along the north coast of Flores Island we see a huge pod of whales just lazily floating around, we sailing into a night passage with the most spectacular sunset and great wind, we arrive at one of the most beautiful anchorages imaginable and see some great small coral life. Bringing Yabá from wreck to dreamy! Episode 43 In this episode we finally shut the port side and our covering board keeps on growing, but for that, we have to lift it onto the boat first. 👉 SUBSCRIBE to not miss out on the new episodes: https://bit.ly/3dI3hBn SUPPORT OUR PROJECT: 👉 By becoming a patron - join to unlock exclusive content: https://www.patreon.com/sailingyaba 👉 Through Paypal donations: https://bit.ly/3kR4Ezo or sailingyaba@gmail.com 👉 By wearing our products: https://sailingyaba.creator-spring.com We are forever grateful to everyone that is living our dream with us ♥️ 💙 Who are we? We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted 70ft wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the works needed were a lot more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way. It is not goodbye, it is see you soon little man. https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode, we got our Dog a penthouse!! For months now, we have been jumping through endless hoops to prepare for our whippet Marley's export from Malaysia to New Zealand and onwards to our home country of Australia. This has been our entire hold up for our departure to Indonesia and our return trip home. We wanted to make sure everything was in order for Marley's departure before we ourselves begin our trip. Finally everything appeared to be in order and Marley was about to fly. With only a few days left of hanging out together, we wanted to treat the little guy. He is such a major part of our family and this is the only way to get him home with us. So putting on our big boy pants, we made the arrangements to have Marley fly home to Australia. We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across to South Africa once cyclone season had finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef... We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean once again, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... Fleeing a hurricane on a sailboat but we got it all wrong! Thanks to Keeps for sponsoring this video! Head to https://keeps.com/ExpeditionEvans to learn more and get 50% off your first order of hair loss treatment. We read the forecasts just like everyone else and made the same call that they did. But time will tell if we all got it wrong. We have the sail of a lifetime zigging and zagging between boats all fleeing from Martha’s Vineyard, and drop the hook just inside of the Newport bridge. Thanks for watching- With love The Evans' **************************************** *Our Boat* 2008 Beneteau 49 3 cabin 2 head 4JH4-TE Westerbeke generator Mast, sails and rig are in excellent condition and in storage Here's what we *think* we know about her past. Keep in mind we bought her at auction without ever meeting the owner! The owner was sailing along and ran aground - hard. Hard enough that the keel pivoted and pushed the aft end up into the hull. This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull. At some point an inspection was done, insurance was called and decisions were made. POP! After tons of swell and the puffs hitting us from the side, the dyneema just couldn't take any more. We also go hunting for our own dinner and Curtis and I hook up our third reef and inner forestay and take Sweet Ruca for a whirl in the crystal clear blue waters just outside of Carriacou. #Sailing #Sailboat #SailboatLiving #SailboatLife Who are these crazy people? We are Sailing Sweet Ruca! We are going around the world via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good hope in our performance cruising monohull, a J Boats J/46. We used to be sailboat racers, but have turned to the cruising life, along with our sailing dog, Roxy. Come sailing around the world with us and learn how to sail as you go! Other sailing channels we like are Uma, Soulianis, Zatara, Nahoa, Delos, and Doodles (without the sexy Instagram models). We are Kate and Curtis aboard our boat s/v Sweet Ruca. We are kind of like Sailing la Vagabonde, except we have a sailing dog named Roxy instead of a kid, and a monohull instead of a catamaran. For more satisfying video subscribe to our channel and sail away with us. If you like sailing videos and are looking for a new sailing channel to follow, check us out. Sardinia ITALY is so beautiful, one of the most beautiful islands we have visited in the mediterranean and has the bluest water we have ever seen throughout the whole Mediterranean! This week we work our way up the coast and ride out a few heavy winds. Thank god for Thor, our new 30kg Spade Anchor (Check him out here - https://spade-anchor.com/-home-page-.html ) we managed to stay in one place blowing 30+ knots consistently for a few days straight!!! We even put him to the test at a minimum scope of 3-1 and he didn't budge an inch. Then to top it off, the water was still blue as blue!!! It's time to put Leviosa, our sailing catamaran, in the marina so we can take a couple months off - and being in a marina always brings some conveniences that we won't take for granted. Charles has a traditional 9-5 position as the Vice President of Customer Success and Jes owns her own business doing art commissions for clients. #WorkingandSailing ❓Where to Next? ⚓️We are not sure. We are LOVING boat life and exploring Moraira in Costa Blanca. Our friends from Sea Heroes have family here so we were lucky enough to be shown around and even cross off a luxury job we had on the list! In this vid we part from our boat buddy after spending which was hard after so much time with them. We loved every minute with them ♥️ ♡ Welcome to our Sailing Vlog - Sailing Coco! After 7 years of renovating boats, we sailed our 33ft Colvic Countess Monohull around the Med. Last year we left London for good and bought a Lucia 40 Fountaine Pajot Catamaran! SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners. KEMO SABE is a first generation (US built) Nordhavn 40, Hull 19 out of 44 produced in southern California by legendary cruising sailboat builder, Pacific Seacraft. When this California builder faltered at hull 44, PAE/Nordhavn shipped the tooling to the Nordhavn yard in China to continue production starting with hull 45 and differentiated the two versions in this series as Mark I US made, and Mark II China built. Following in the footsteps of the older and larger siblings that preceded her, the Nordhavn 40 established a production hallmark that set the standard for all Nordhavn models to follow. Starting with highly polished tooling, she has a solid fiberglass hull layup with integrated swim platform. The deck layout took advantage of many preferred features including a recessed anchor well on the bow, built-in deck boxes on the foredeck and a Portuguese bridge. Outside and up some steps, takes you to the boat deck. The dinghy is mounted aft (athwartships) and the mast supported boom is used to launch and retrieve the tender. Seventy Nordhavn 40s have been produced, approximately 44 in the US and 26 in China. The rising costs of materials and labor has pushed the new boat price for a well outfitted Nordhavn 40 into an uncomfortable territory. Fortunately, the quality construction and owner care supports a high residual value for brokerage (used) boats that have kept this model increasingly popular for over two decades with no end in sight. Nordhavn 40 KEMO SABE 360 Trawler Spin Tour is not really a video, it is a virtual tour. Please read on. If you see the message "360 video playback is not supported on this browser. Please use the YouTube app.", download the YouTube app and watch the video in the app. We are posting #TrawlerSpins on our YouTube channel to make it easier for you to view these 360 images. Please try it out, we think this is a great method to give you, the viewer, control over what you see. JMYS has been using 360 images on our listings for the last couple of years and discovered this process which allows us to connect all of the 360 images together to provide a more cohesive tour and plays like a short movie. Each area completes a 360 rotation for a short time before automatically going to the next location. You can watch it as a video, or pause the screen to take control of the image look all around. Play around and you’ll see that these 360’s allow you to look in every direction – left, right, above, below – as if you are actually aboard. You can look closer and zero in on the details of interest and easily skip to the next location. Please think of this as a photo album that is not a collection of one directional images that you have to click on one at a time. This process is easier, faster and a more efficient way for you to spend your time versus the old method of clicking on 360 photos one at a time and waiting for them to load. There is background music instead of voice overs so that you can jump around without missing anything. Hopefully you’ll agree this is a cool new way for you to view our listings and gives you the ability to stop and look around, or to let it flow seamlessly room to room. Don’t worry, we will continue to do our industry leading, narrated Talk Through videos. This is an additional promotional approach we want to share, thanks for giving this a spin! The time to sail has come! Long before we dealt with a broken shackle and jammed halyard we were preparing for this passage. But finally it's time to depart and raise the Code Zero, pointing Calico Skies' bow towards foreign shores once again! We are off to rolly, choppy start with confused seas. We get our Code Zero and poled out genoa up to stabilize the motion. We both head sails up speeds are good and we are on course to Isla Mujere's Mexico, about 300 miles away. We aren't underway long before the shout of fish on is heard. We hooked a large wahoo on our hand-line. As we are about to gaff the fish it slips the hook. Not long after loosing the fish we hear a loud pop and notice our code zero is luffing. We have broken a shackle and the mast head and the sail is now hanging from its mast exit. Without halyard tension we are unable to furl the sail nor can we drop it as the halyard cover has chafed and is jammed in the mast. There is no other option but to climb the rig to manually release the sail. The question is will be able to recover the sail without damaging it!?!?
