Well, after alot of soul searching, research and Pro's & Con's lists we have decided to pull the pin on our amazing adventure. Sadly and basically its just getting too hard. We hoped that covid wouldnt be the excuse.. but it is. We weighed all our options, from us all sailing home, to me (Tim) getting crew to sail Polly back to New Zealand to where we are now, that is, selling Polly here in Turkey, travelling by plane to Germany while we wait for Lucy's rabies free period and also the stressful MIQ (Managed Isolation Quarantine) waiting queue. This time will also mean catching up with Silkes parents for a European Christmas . Something which may be along time happening again. To sail from the Mediterranean back to New Zealand would have taken 18mth minimum travelling 9000nm through some very rough and potentially damaging oceans and two weather systems season critical. The Panama canal passage, endless covid borders to cross (even if allowed ) then a final $28,000 GST & Import bill for Polly upon arrival. A totally around NZD$45-50k. Just too much .. too much risk. Polly has been sold and we are enjoying our last two weeks aboard. We hope to be able to buy another yacht in New Zealand to live on in Napier harbour. (Plan A). From there we will get work again and some sort of "normal life" but hopefully without the old hamster-wheel and rat-race of before. From there we want to live life fully and explore New Zealand from the sea and land. We will continue to tell our story through video and would love to continue to have you on board as Patreons. Welcome to the bipolar rodeo on Lake Okanagan. We hit so many weather systems it would make your head spin. Gusts that hit up to 25 knots and then died right down to 3. It made sailing almost impossible, but we did it! I guess with the season change so does the wind patterns and gusts. We learned a great many lessons on this trip... Most importantly If your not paying attention you might get knocked on your bow, and try as you may you just can't out run a storm. I was a sad reminder that the lazy sunny days are gone for this season but we are pumped for what the fall has to offer. We are starting to feel more confidant on our MacGregor and we don't discount all the experience...some good, some bad, but all important tools that we have gained this year so far. I have a huge surprise for Josh this coming weekend for his birthday. It's time to put all that knowledge to good use and hopefully pick some tips up along the way. Bonjour Alexandre, reporteur en escale sur Pierrick II Ce mercredi 25 août 2021 un habitants du village Poul Brohou a observé à 13 h 30 un voilier au comportement hasardeux aux abords du port du Bloscon L’habitant a prévenu la SNSM. l’intervention du semi-rigide et ensuite de la vedette on été dépêchés sur place à 16 h . 9 sauveteurs et un plongeur ont été mis à contribution. Les trois personnes à bord, le propriétaire son épouse et sa sœur ont été pris en charge par la ville. Le propriétaire restera à bord afin d’aider aux manœuvres. Drossé sur les rochers, le voilier, immatriculé à Saint-Malo, d’environ 11 m et de 2 m 40 de tirant d’eau, est remorqué Celui mettra en difficulté les secouristes , en cause la houle et de l.importance de la voie d'Eau À 17 h 30, le voilier est largement immergé finalement, il coulera au large Du Bloscon. La décision est prise à 18 h 30 de le lester dans l’anse de traon erc'h Les secouristes de la SNSM Sont retournés sur place à marée basse entre une heure et 5 h du matin pour sauvegarder les voiles et tout le matériel récupérable. Des vêtements ont été remis au navigateur à qui l’hospitalité a été offerte dans les bateaux pour le reste de la nuit. Les raisons de l’accident pour l’instant ne sont pas connues. Lauren's brother requested another cucumber drink, so we decided to try our hand at the Archangel cocktail, a recipe created by Michael McIlroy and Richard Boccato and the ultra famous NYC bar Milk & Honey- afterwards they featured it in the PDT (Please Don't Tell) Cocktail Book. It's a play on the traditional Pink Gin. So why Archangel? It's actually pretty random... The two creators came up with the name after discussing the Argentinian Football (Soccer) player Gabriel Batitusta. That’s his nickname. The cocktail is straightforward and easy to make at home made with Gin and Aperol. But wow it tastes so complex! And although it falls into the "booozy" categroy, it's the kind of drink that goes down easy during this crazy heatwave. Let us know if you try it!
