But with only 3 weeks left before Jip needs to go back to the Netherlands for 2 weeks we decided it might also just be a good chance to test the boat to the max....... and boy we did!! Overnight sails in southeast Asia are particularly challenging, not least because the waters are full of obstacles that you can't see in the dark. Like logs. During this passage, we left in thunder and lightning and sailed for 150 miles across a shipping lane in ever-changing winds. We aimed to reach Tolitoli (our destination) in the morning because we prefer not to arrive in the dark at new anchorages. So it was an early start to give ourselves plenty of time for any delays if the going got difficult on our way to Sulawesi. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. During season 2 We sailded south to Dieppe Normandy France. After a winter in France in Season 3 we started to sail the Atlantic coast of Europe to Xufre in Spain where we lifted the boat over the summer while we where back in Gotland to work at our hostel we got there. Season 4 got a short sailing season where we only sailed to Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal where we hauled out once again this time to go throug a long list of boatwork and to build a solar arch to make the boat more self-suficient with electricity. After 6 months in Lagos we kicked-off season 5 with real bluewater sailing first to the northerly Atlantic island Porto Santo and Madeira and then further out to the Azores that lays in the middle of the Atlantic ocean before turning back towards the mainland and south coast of Portugal again.

We enter the Bocas del toro annual regatta, which we actually started in 2019, and have raced in every regatta since then. There is another lagoon 450 in the race, so its a great opportunity to see whether our bulkhead repairs and sugar scoop extensions actually make us sail faster, in comparison to our sister ship. But things take a turn for the worse when our drone decides to not be able to come back to the boat, in the middle of the race! They found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are almost ready to cross the Pacific Ocean!! No começo foi tranquilo até passar o canal do morro do saco (norte da lagoa da conceição). No meio da lagoa o vento sempre fica mais forte e deu pra curtir bastante a velejada com os amigos. The Anchor Hitch is a super secure fender knot which tightens on itself when load is applied. It is really simple to tie, all you need is two round turns. One over the top of the item you are securing your fender to and the second one on top of the first. The Anchor hitch will become really tight making it hard to undo after load has been applied, making it a great option if you are away for a long time and what you fenders to be in same place when you return. Eigentlich wollten wir schon unterwegs sein. Doch leider muss Arzum noch mal nach Deutschland: der leidige Behördenwahnsinn. Ich nutze derweil die Zeit, um die Dilly-Dally noch einmal an Land zu heben. Geplant war das eigentlich für den Spätsommer, irgendwo in Spanien oder Marokko. Doch da sich plötzlich gleich drei Seeventile nicht mehr schließen lassen, will ich die Zeit für den nötigen Wechsel nutzen. Ein schweißtreibender Job, denn die Biester sitzen fest. Und wenn das Boot schon aus dem Wasser ist, kann ich auch gleich einen Blick auf den Coppercoat werfen, den wir vor anderthalb Jahren statt des normalen Antifoulings aufgetragen haben. Hält der Kupferschild wirklich, was er verspricht? Schließlich hatten wir letzten Sommer Wassertemperaturen von über 30 Grad und manch ein Rumpf grünt schöner als ein englischer Rasen. Zudem haben sich die Anoden pflichtgemäß aufgeopfert und der Propeller könnte mal wieder eine Rasur vertragen. Und wenn wir schon beim Aufhübschen sind verträgt der Rumpf auch wieder eine Politur, damit er bei unserer Abreise mit der Sonne um die Wette glänzen kann. Statt schöner Buchten und Ankerplätze diesmal ein Video von der brütend heißen Betonwüste am Wasser.
