Von Galaxidi geht es durch den Kanal von Korinth über die kleine Insel Trizonia und das bezaubernde Städtchen Nafpaktos Richtung Messolonghi. Auf dem Weg dorthin müssen wir unter der Rio-Andirrio-Brücke durchsegeln und uns dafür per Funk die Freigabe zur Brückendurchfahrt holen. Ein wirklich beeindruckendes Bauwerk! Mit ordentlich Wind von Achtern segeln wir weiter nach Messolonghi, wo Dirk erstmal die neuen Motorfüße einbaut. Der letzte Abend in Griechenland wird unvergesslich. Heike und Peter laden uns in die Berge zu einem herrlichen Spaziergang mit anschließendem Essen in Anatolis Cafebar ein. Schöner hätte der Abschied von Griechenland nicht sein können. Von nun an segeln wir nur noch nach Westen. Mal sehen, wie weit wir kommen. From Galaxidi, we sail through the Corinth Canal via the small island of Trizonia and the charming town of Nafpaktos towards Messolonghi. On the way there, we have to sail under the Rio-Andirrio Bridge and obtain permission to pass under it by radio. A truly impressive structure! With a good tailwind, we sail on to Messolonghi, where Dirk first installs the new engine mounts. Our last evening in Greece is unforgettable. Heike and Peter invite us to the mountains for a wonderful walk followed by dinner at Anatoli's café bar. Our farewell to Greece couldn't have been more beautiful. From now on, we'll only be sailing west. Let's see how far we get.

On a du beau temps cette année . Chaud mais pas trop… des bateaux mais pas envahis non plus, de la place au mouillage. Mais n est encore en juillet… On verra au mois d'aout. On se dirige vers l'entrée du golf de Patras, Mesolonghi, sur le continent. On attendait du vent et on s'y est abrité quelques jours. Ensuite direction plus au sud vers l'île de Zakynthos. Leg 2 of our big trek home – and what a run it’s been! We covered another 300 nautical miles over 10 days, dropping anchor at 8 beautiful spots between Cape Gloucester, the Whitsundays and North Keppel Island. There was some wily weather, plenty of sunshine, and a few of those golden sunsets that make the long days worth it. Somewhere along the way, our sail car gave up, but with a bit of MacGyver magic we managed to patch it up and keep sailing. We also had some cracking sails and a heap of fun tacking our way through – it feels good to finally be getting the hang of it! Oh, and the highlight? A 144cm Spanish mackerel that made us (the cat and the freezer) very happy. We’ve now notched up over 600 nautical miles on the trip south – only about 260 to go. The home stretch is in sight… though there might be a few detours yet. Ben de mutfağın temizliğini, boyasını yaptım ve nihayet tekneyi tencere kaynar hale getirdim. Teknede yemek yapabilmek bütçemizi baya toparladı, masrafları hemen düşürdü. We were not only sailing from the cold, we also wanted to spend time with Monica and enjoy Thanksgiving. Monica picked us up from Fernandina Beach and took us to her place in Jacksonville, a short distance away. While Admiral Toni did most of the cooking, I got a list of chores that I had to complete, fix the patio door, fix the front door, pick up and move heavy stuff, fix her Sono’s Google Play, reposition her dash cam, . . . , you get the picture. We start in the heart of Mackay at Fifth Lane, wandering through vibrant street art and colourful murals — the talent here is incredible! Then it’s off to the Sandfly Creek Environmental Reserve, where we ride through changing landscapes of mangroves, saltmarsh, wetlands, and open pathways. Such a hidden gem! Next, we hire a car and drive 70km west into the lush rainforest of Eungella National Park. Our goal: the two breathtaking waterfalls and rock pools of Finch Hatton Gorge. The hikes are beautiful, the scenery is lush, and the swim at the end is absolutely worth every step — crystal-clear, refreshing, and surrounded by towering rainforest. From there, we fly down to Sydney for four big days at the Sydney Boat Show in Darling Harbour, showcasing our Kick N Bak FLOATS. This week’s episode jumps right into the fun stuff—Jessica’s back in the engine bay, drilling out two new holes in the starboard engine bed for a pair of thru-hulls we’ll be installing. It’s one of those jobs that sounds simple until you’re dangling over the engine bay with a big hole saw and a whole lot of trust in your measurements. While Jess tackles the inside, Matt’s on the outside of the hull laying in extra reinforcement so those thru-hulls have the strength and backing they need. Anytime we’re putting new holes below the waterline, we take zero chances—and Matt’s layers of glass make sure this section is rock solid. Then we move up to the forward lockers, where Matt starts drilling the openings for our new fiberglass tubes that will act as conduit. These tubes span across the very front of the boat, running through the lockers and eventually feeding into the spaces where all of our wiring will pass through. It’s one of those behind-the-scenes projects that doesn’t look glamorous, but it’s going to make a massive difference once we start pulling cables and powering systems. Together with another very experienced sailor, I sailed my COCON from the Canary Islands to Martinique in the Caribbean. People often say that this route is ‘really easy’. But is it really as easy as people say? Although this was already my third Atlantic crossing on this route – in addition to other blue water voyages – it proved once again that no two crossings are the same.That's why I've included separate sections in the video where I share my experiences and points that I consider particularly important. My aim is to give anyone planning a similar trip a realistic insight into what to expect, what to consider, what helps, and what my solutions and suggestions are. The weather during this crossing was very mixed, and we encountered relatively rough conditions at the beginning and especially in the last third. I am all the more pleased that we arrived without any damage to the COCON and without any other problems. A large part of this success is also due to the atmosphere on board: we were a very good team, very experienced, familiar, attentive and harmonious – something that is priceless on long ocean voyages. After 21 days on the Atlantic, we finally reached Martinique. And even though it was my third crossing, arriving is always a special moment, which we celebrate exuberantly with a bottle of champagne.

In this episode, we sail into the world-famous town of Saint-Tropez to finally see what all the fuss is about. The streets are buzzing with tourists in the late-August heat, the boutiques are filled with iconic designer labels, and the harbour is packed with superyachts. We enjoy wandering the charming lanes and soaking in the atmosphere—though the luxury price tags are definitely out of our league! The next day, we hoist the spinnaker and leave Saint-Tropez behind, bound for the Giens Peninsula. What follows is one of our best sails of the entire season. Helios comes alive in the breeze, powering up to 9.5 knots as we scream past Porquerolles.
